The Civil War veteran stands alone in his fight for justice and safety for his townsfolk.
Friendly cowboy Gil Richards is one laid-back bronco buster. The war veteran happily makes his living as a wrangler near Hugo, Arizona. But that all changes when a stranger mysteriously dies right in front of him.
Gil suspects the dead man may be a state prisoner being used illegally by shady businessman Mort Odom.
Mort, and his henchmen don't let anything or anyone get in their way. If that involves murder, then so be it.
For the good people and townsfolk of Hugo, Gil takes on the injustice.
And among those folks is Jessica Davidson, the woman that Gil will protect with his life and at all costs, especially from Mort’s reign of terror.
How can Gil bring law and order back to the untamed land of territorial Arizona? Will his guns alone save Jessica and himself?
A WB. Arizona Western Action Adventure (TOI) (ACWN)
WB. has penned an Arizona western action adventure titled, "Taking on Justice", which begins with two ranch hands reporting a shooting to the County Sheriff, who was soon murdered. The two cowboys take the positions as Sheriff and Deputy. They investigate a rancher and find he is responsible for the mayhem in the area. The investigations begin and the Sheriff and his Deputy stop the ranchers illicit operations. This is an excellent read for the genre.....DEHS
It was a good story, but I am giving it three stars because in my opinion there is an issue with how the story flows and other editing issues. The story jumped around and sometimes didn’t feel like it was well thought out. This was very distracting for me and often caused me to set the book aside. One of the reasons it took me so long to read. I normally read a book of this length in a matter of days.
Overall the story was worth finishing and I would recommend reading if you like western crime stories.
Good story. Some day William Black will be a good writer. What this book needs is an editor , I am guessing that is what the person who checks for misspelling, or too many words in a sentence is called. There were words out of context. Any way I enjoyed the story. Good job Mr. Black.
There was way too much repetitive explaining of the same things. It is not necessary to explain different facts of the story repeatedly. I found this book to be more for the teen age group.
This was an excellent book that from page one I could not put down. Lots of action and suspense, along with a nice romance. The main characters were very interesting, as well as the storyline.
I'm not sure many 78 year old women enjoy good westerns, but this one does, especially by William Black. They have lots of action, but are clean with a happy ending. I look forward to the next one.
This is a wonderful book that is well written but poorly edited. Hence four stars instead of five. Words are misused, missing or misspelled. very distracting.
I just love reading western but not all stories as good as this one. Started out strong and I couldn't put it down. Will be reading more of this author.
Kept me interested throughout the book. Realistic and well written. Only improvement would be English corrections in several sentences. Thanks for great western story.
