“Sara, the vampire is unique! He…”“Okay, Alex, so mind-blowing sex then, aren’t you a lucky girl?” A journalist for The Daily News, Sara attacks her work with a Warrior-Princess attitude, her fiery, red hair, the hint of a dominant personality. Alex, her sidekick photographer, always speaks her mind and keeps Sara on the straight and narrow. The Fortress stands outside the Village nestled against the mountain, away from the busy city metropolis. Its secrets of Alien Vampires, ancient wolf-like creatures called Wolfen, Shapeshifters, and a resident wizard, pepper the stories told by the Village Elders. Fate dictates the journalist duo; their destiny to save the world from the ‘Blood Moon’ and ‘The Feast of Souls’, prepared by Luna the Evil One. Jarrid the Village Councilman, and his family are immersed in the fate of the Redheaded One. They are waiting for her to come into her power, seize the medallion, and save the world, all with the help of her Fairy Grandmother, Lucinda.

I have no idea where to start or even what to write. So much happened within the pages that I am at a loss. I can say that this book was incredible and I absolutely loved it!

I am always happy to be met with a strong female lead no matter the media form or genre of said media. We are given that and so much more in Sara, Alex and Mary.

Sara and her friend Alex, are journalist and come together to create a dynamic dual working cohesively to get the best out of the stories they deliver. After Sara stumbles upon a village in the woods during a hike, she takes the time to get to know the town’s people. She finds a special connection with Mary. After some time, she is finally given the go ahead from her boss to do a story on the village. Knowing that this story could catapult their careers, they are willing to go further than they even realize necessary to get to the heart of it. With the assistance of the village’s head councilman and Mary’s oldest son, Jarrid, they sit in on a council meeting. It is there they find that they have unknowingly entered into a battle that Sara was already destined to fight.

This story is an epic battle of good and evil, light and dark. While the plot itself is not realistic when taken at face value, one could, however, make many moral philosophical arguments. I found many of the he characters to be extremely likeable and some downright loveable. On the other had, there were some that were just awful, Ted for example. Yet and still there where characters like Alex who is strong willed and tough all while being someone annoying.

The author takes us on an amazing and emotional journey complete with many of commons tropes of the genre along with the supernatural beings we have all come to enjoy. There’s some lag here and there but every second spent reading is well worth it. It does end with a cliffhanger of sorts so I’m hoping for a follow up story. I can’t wait to read more from this author.

What a great book! I was sorry this book ended and I hope the author does a follow-up.
The characters came alive. And what characters they were! My favorite is the vampire, unlike any I've read about before. A very compelling character.
OMG the sex! Thank you, Sarah Kage.

I enjoyed my complimentary copy from Voracious Readers Only. A little long, but worth it. Pure over evil. Loved the way it didn't end when expected but went on further into the future.

Honestly, I’m not sure where to start my book review...

I am 21% into the book and I just cannot get into it. I felt like some of the chapters are missing. The chapters, that I did read, felt rushed and I felt like they had too much/too little stuff going on and not a lot of details or information. I wasn’t able to connect with the characters. Overall I’m confused and couldn’t follow along with the chapters.

Though I would still recommend this book to a friend or anyone that wants to read it. It just wasn’t for me, maybe someone else would be able to get Into it...

I received a complimentary copy of the book from the author via Voracious Readers Only within my review.
