Silva Hart demonstrates her knowledge of being an excellent writer. The release of Fighting Filthy is insightful of the struggles young men go through when they have a rough start.

Jett Dixon is the typical bad boy. His home life is troubling. He turns to boxing out of survival. When Lexi Moore takes notice of Jett, he is not sure what to think about it. He struggles with his feelings for Lexi. Lexi does everything she can think of to show her devotion to Jett. Will it be enough?.

Not for me
2 stars

I hate it when a book misses the mark with me. One - because I always want to love the books I choose and spend time with, and two - because I know that the author likely put their heart and soul into writing the book and I never want to take that away from them.

That said, I just don’t think this was the book for me.

This is Jett’s story, and is written in first person completely in his point of view. While that’s good in some respects, because of this I felt that Lexie was pretty unlikeable and her motives at the start a little suspect. I just wanted to hear what she was thinking. Why was she after Jett? What did she think when he did certain things or acted in a certain way towards her?

We learn a lot about Jett both from his thoughts and what happens to him throughout the chapters. We definitely get a good feel for him and his character - and that was, I suppose, one of my problems. He was, ostensibly, a brat. Or maybe just a typical teenager. Either way, we did not connect.

I’ve read and enjoyed both New Adult and Young Adult books in the past, but with this one I just felt that I (as a woman in my 30s) was not the target audience. It all felt a bit frivolous and while the characters are completely overrun by their emotions, we as readers are left to add the emotions into the story. I mean, it’s obvious that Jett’s terrible (and abusive) home life would leave him scared, upset, angry etc - but I never felt it from the pages, just from my assumption that he would be feeling these things. So I think that someone more of Jett’s age would have an easier time with connecting with the characters. I just felt judgemental and frustrated. And old.

I have to say that the writing was good. I mean, any author that can make you feel something for the characters and storyline is definitely doing something right. It certainly wasn’t the writing style or ability that made me dislike this book.

I also see some people calling this a ‘happily for now’ ending rather than a ‘happily ever after’. While I understand this perspective, I honestly think that’s only being said because the characters are so young, and as adults, we probably distrust the emotional commitment of teens. But fear not, this is a happy ending - although there is a link to extended epilogues that you can read after this story that I believe give you updates into adulthood so you can see for yourselves how their lives are getting on.

Anyway, I’m definitely not saying this book is bad - it’s just the first young adult book that’s made me feel more like an adult than ever. Whatever book I’m reading, whatever the age of the characters, I want to connect with them - and that just didn’t happen here for me. But if you’re younger than I am, or if the premise sounds good then give it a go. Not for me but might be for you. 2 stars.

Jett is very popular with the ladies, even if he’s only 18 and still in high school, it’s been that way since he was 14. Lexi is the cheer captain, rich and golden in every way, and she’s decided she wants Jett. He’s confused by her sudden attention and thinks it’s just a phase. He’s also captivated by the the new girl, Anna; his English teacher seems to have an interest in him too. It’s nothing he’s not used to, every woman wants in his pants. Home life is the pits, all he can trust is the gym and boxing. An intense look into the life of a hot teenage boy learning how to make a life for himself and learn what love is along the way. I wouldn’t call this an enemies to lovers as Lexi and Jett didn’t know each other enough to be enemies, but certainly a different worlds or opposite sides of the track pairing. Steamy, angsty, full of drama and a sweet HEA.

Loving the Bad Boy . . .

Eighteen-year-old Jett Dixon has a tough life, especially at home when his stepfather is drunk or hungover and goes after him. To stay out of his way, he hangs around at the underground gym and engages in bare-knuckle boxing to get money for his car. Jett is a bad boy from the wrong side of the tracks who can’t seem to stop making bad decisions. He wants people to see him for who he is and not judge him for where he came from. He is also very alluring to most of the females at school.

But when Lexi Moore, the cheerleader captain and daughter of a billionaire, makes a move on him, he can’t figure out why she would pick him. He has no special interest in her but she won’t let go. Then a new girl, Anna, starts school there and gets his attention. Will he continue to play the field, or will one of them win his heart?

This was a very interesting read. I did read it from start to finish but I have so many questions... I feel like there should have been a second book to dissect all the emotions and scenarios that played out in this story. Without writing spoilers, I felt like this story was a little bit all over the place, there were certain sex scenes where I had to just stop and think for a minute at what in the world was happening! I was really hoping for an unhappily ever after here, the HEA just didn’t fit at all.
I’m not sure if I will pick up this author again, why me will not be leaving my head anytime soon...

This is a new author to me, and I was intrigued that this story is unique in that it is told by Jett’s POV. Jett has had a tough life, and this outcast bad boy’s is a boxer in underground fights. Jett is taken aback when he ends up in a triangle of sorts as Lexi who is a rich girl cheerleader, and Anna who is the new girl at their school both want him. No spoilers: this is a definite must read if angsty coming of age stories are your genre. This is a well written tale which is filled with relatable and engaging characters, drama, angst, twists, and is a raw, gritty, steamy, and powerful story. I was hooked throughout, and I look forward to reading more from this author in the future.

I had some reservations about reading this book because it is not my genre (young adults), but I am happy I took the chance and read it. It is absolutely fantastic! Well written, well developed, well described, witty, emotionally deep, engaging, and relatable with drama and ups and downs. The characters are strong and believable with amazing chemistry between them. This book is guaranteed to leave you wanting more. Definitely recommended!

I LOVE this book!! Jett is my new “book boyfriend.” I love that this book was written in his POV. I thought Author Silva Hart did a fantastic job in writing it from the male’s POV. Poor Jett doesn’t have life easy!! He is constantly fighting, figuratively and literally!! Jett really is thrown for a loop when not only, Anna the new girl in school, but Lexi the popular head cheerleader, are both wanting him. It definitely leaves him saying Why Me? 😉😉 I highly recommend this book!! I hope we get more Jett ♥️

Why me? Because she believed in him, that's why. Jett is just trying to get through high school. He spends all day everyday just surviving until the next. He has a crappy home life, deals with difficult school life, and now has a cheerleader who has attached herself to his side. I loved this story. Everything is Jett's POV and he really had to figure out life. He doesn't want Lexi. He has his eyes on another prize, yet this prize doesn't know what she wants. It kept me interested until the very end and that epilogue...yes you want to read this one.

5 STARS for Why Me by Silva Hart

Ms Hart is a new author for me and I will check out more of her work. Thank you Booksprout for introducing me to this author!

So refreshing that this story is told by Jett’s point of view! He is quite the bad boy with a bad reputation. There is quite a bit of angst and sizzling chemistry in this young adult coming of age storyline.

I could not put this book down and ended up reading in one sitting SO GOOD !!

Jett doesn't have the best home life; he does what he can to make through the last year of high school. Avoiding home Jett has taken up boxing and is involved in underground fighting when he needs cash.

Lexi is a cheerleader and has her eyes set on Jett. Even though he is constantly turning her down, she does not give up the chase and has decided to latch herself to him.

This is a good story that pulls you. I love that it is told in Jett's POV.

Why Me? High School Bad Boy Romance
by
Silva Hart

This is a beautiful book at the end. The characters, Lexi and Jett are irritatingly annoying; like Why? But I loved them. I wanted to strangle Jett more than a few times. The story ended up being really good, but I really hated the end. I think it needed a few more sentences at least. You will not be disappointed if you do read this though.

Why Me was a quite an interesting book as Jett is wildly popular and chased by all. Though he had good chemistry with Lexi, it was quite the journey to travel to their HFN as his emotions were all over the place which made it quite confusing. It was steamy, dark but with some fun moments.

This was a good story. Did I enjoy it sure. I felt that some parts dragged a bit but the world and character building were spot on. You get to know these characters through her writing. There were some spots that I found were too wordy but all in all it was a good story.

This was a bit different to what I was expecting and up until about half way through I was still a little bit unsure if I liked it or not, I didn’t really like Lexi in the beginning but liked Anna but then I completely changed my mind, loved it had an epilogue and that gave it a great ending 😁

This was a very interesting story, well written and from the male point of view. This book is a coming of age story about Jett, a bad boy from the wrong side of the tracks. He is such a complex character. This story is fast paced and action packed. I had no idea how it was going to end. This was a fun read and I do recommend this book.

This is a great read. I enjoyed it very much. It is a story of how two people that you wouldn't think would connect end up together and fall head over heals for each other. The author did a great job with writing this one.

The author has given us a great read that pulls us into the lives of Jett and Lexi and does not let go. He is an outsider from the wrong side of the tracks, and she is a cheerleader from the wealthy side of town. What could they possibly have in common?

When I first started this book, I wasn't sure that I was going to stick with it, but I am glad that I did because the ending was definitely worth it. This book is about Jett who is the bad boy boxer from the wrong side of the tracks and his relationship with the head cheerleader at his high school who is also a billionaire's daughter. Jett just cannot understand what Lexi sees in him. He doesn't get why all of a sudden she seems so interested in wanting to be with him, but her bubbly attitude starts to bring some joy to his joyless life. His mother is in a relationship with an abusive alcoholic and Jett took up boxing in order to defend himself against the guy's attacks. After the one attack, Jett packs up his things and goes to live at the gym.
A new girl comes to school and she gets Jett's attention and he fancies himself in a relationship with her, but soon realizes that she just cannot forget her ex-boyfriend from where she and her mother moved from. Anna sort of uses Jett as a distraction and he definitely uses her to try to help him deal with the unknown situation with Lexi.
There is a rich dude that thinks Lexi is his and that he needs to look out for her, but Lexi keeps telling Jett that she only cares for him(Jett) unfortunately the rich guy doesn't get the hint and comes after Jett a few times with several of his cohorts.
This book is full of a lot of teenage angst, boxing scenes, and coming of age decisions with several other surprises. I am curious about what part 2 is going to be about. I read the full length novel.

Not a fan of high school bully style novels but this was so much more. Won't tell the story but it was well written & detailed with enough complexity to make me not want to put it down. I received an arc & this is my honest & voluntary review.

Weird

Disappointed in this book, it was very strange I felt like the main characters had more of a connection with anna, anna comes across as strong but then runs back to get cheating boyfriend, Lexus is really clingy and a push over

I gave this book 2 stars instead of 1 bc I genuinely believe Jett fell in love with Lexi
Unfortunately, i didn’t like how many people he slept with along the way, esp. the older women.

Loved this book! Its filled will teenage angst, bad decisions, and lots of violence (boxing, street justice, bullying, self defense) and a ton of sex. The lead literally plows through everything that looks at his twice until he finally comes to his senses and commits to the angel that has been his ray of sunshine and constant champion (even when he didn't deserve it). Its a coming of age novel, where a boy finally becomes a man. Its messy, ugly, hot, fun, beautiful and hurts. But in the end, love prevails. Reminds me a lot of LJ Shen books.
