Billionaires of Shoals Island

Trusting the Billionaire

Rate this book

A single dad billionaire and a free-spirited surf instructor only have two weeks to come to an agreement.

Landon Langford isn’t looking for love. In fact, she wants nothing to do with it. And to double down on her independence? She’s desperate to ditch her dull small-town job at the ice cream shack for a full-time surfboard. Happy as a clam on her own, her world tips upside down when a man who looks strangely familiar approaches her at the county fair, causing undue feelings to ignite. Oops.

Henry Evan Neal is the lonely and laidback billionaire from Southern Kentucky who prides himself on two things— his exceptional ability to close a business deal and the exciting life he’s built his kids, Ryley and Cohen. But when he enrolls them in private surf lessons on a whim, he decides to take a risk for the sake of romance. Strong business acumen aside, the only thing Henry can’t seem to close on? A serious relationship with Landon.

As Landon and Henry bond over a shared connection, the past comes back to plague them. Will the two be able to tie up loose ends in the name of love? Or will Henry’s final decision on the island cut him out of Landon’s life for good?

Trusting the Billionaire is a sweet small-town romance with no cliff hangers and an HEA.

Lovely.

A nice clean romance. Just wished there was a bit more of the story. Always hard to leave a good story.

Got to 60% and skimmed the rest. I love an insta love book but something was missing from this book and I can't pin it down. It was totally boring and it really needed another going over with an editor because some conversations just didn't make sense or it seemed liked we missed a whole conversation between sentences. And this amazing connection and chemistry didn't really translate. We were told more than shown.

Beautiful ending!

Perhaps this was so touching because the kids were well behaved and cute. But I believe it is because Emma Sutton wrote as if she has lived this very life.

Each chapter brought forth emotions from their characters that felt so right, it made the book seem more real . It actually brought this reader much closer to the story, as if I were part of their group.

The ending was so well written, I can't find the words to describe how it made me feel. Although I wanted to read more about these people, my heart knew they would be okay. That the love between them all would continue to grow. That someday, they might be surrounded by children and grandchildren, their love still strong.

Beautiful book Emma Sutton! Thank you.

After her last relationship broke apart, Logan, the main character, was on a strict “no relationship diet”. That was until she met Henry, the protagonist, and all these feelings started developing. She was very cautious to not open up, but after a few days, she was willing to try and trust him. Unfortunately, he made a bad move and all her walls were back up. When Henri wanted to apologize, she was not willing to let him in and get hurt again.
It was a very entertaining story. Logan was a bit stubborn, but it is understandable to be cautious after being hurt. Fortunately, Henri had a very effective secret weapon that I won’t tell you about. It was sure to open a door to her heart ☺. Be ready to enjoy your book.

Cute

Cute and very clean story about a single dad and his kids. I wanted more of Landon and Henry together but it was a short book. Glad for the HEA, though I still wanted a more permanent ending.

Great book

Loved this book. It takes a lot of trust to love again after things go wrong by both Henry and Landon. Can they do it?

I loved this story centered at the beach. The characters were great and the children were sweet. This is a sweet, clean romance.

First of all, this writer and this story showed me that a good romance story does NOT have to have explicit language or sex scenes to be good! Henry is a widower with 2 adorable kids. He has come back to the coast of North Carolina - to the place where he spent many happy memories as a teenager - for a family vacation. The first day he's there, he runs into the granddaughter of one of his grandmother's friends and soon begins to see the possibility of a second chance at love. Emma Sutton does a wonderful job of letting us feel the emotions of her characters. The relationship between Henry (H) and his kids will have you smiling and his daughter, "Ryley with a y" will have you laughing out loud. Sutton took the "formula" of a widower and second love but put her own spin to it with some new fresh ideas for romance.

Landon Langford lives in the small tourist town of Shoals Island, working in a job she hates and hoping to be able to devote herself entirely to her great passion, surfing.
When Henry Evan Neal returns to the city to spend the summer with his two children, Ryley and Cohen, he didn't expect his heart to be healed from the sorrows of the past.
The surprise he and Landon have when they discover that she is the children's private surf teacher is very funny. They all connect instantly and start spending time together, until Landon and Henry decide to give the feelings between them a try.
But when the past threatens that happiness, will they be able to overcome and move on, or will it drive them apart forever?
I loved the story and the characters, especially little Ryley. I recommend the reading.

This is the 3rd book from Emma Sutton that I have read and they have all been amazing! Each book contains a well written fun loving story with so much heart and clean romance, and this book is no different. Henry is left to care for his two kids following the death of his wife and decides to move back to his small town in North Carolina. Landon is a surfer and surf instructor who has given up on love and men. In the midst of grief and rebuilding their lives, they find a second chance at love. Trusting the Billionaire is a sensational story about finding peace and the courage to open one's heart to love and new possibilities. Readers will fall in love with these characters and story, they won't want to put it down. I can't wait for Emma Sutton's next book release.

A widower, Henry, a very savvy businessman billionaire arrives back at his grandmother's house in NC planning to put it on the market and return to his home in Kentucky within a couple of weeks. But he runs into Landon, a surfing instructor, who also has ties to his past. When he signs up his two children, Cohen (8) and Riley (5) for surfing lessons, their lives begin to change. There's great chemistry between Henry and Landon, especially when he realizes the affection his kids have for Landon and she for them.

I just love these single dad stories with cute young kids. It's one of my favorite tropes and Emma Sutton writes them with humor, warmth and love. For a feel good story, I heartily recommend Trusting the Billionaire!

This is a sweet romance. I like the fact that it doesn't include any major theatrics in the story. It is a very relatable to an everyday life. The only hint that the main character, Henry has money is a comment that is made from his young daughter. There are two children who belong to Henry. This helps with the story being relatable. The characters of the kids are so adorable. You have the quiet somewhat shy son Cohen and the outspoken and rambunctious younger sister Ryley.

Landon gets attached to the kids very easily and quickly. Not her typical response to kids. However, attaching herself to a man is not an option. She is not liking to date anyone. She is done with heartbreak and all the rest of it that goes with opening yourself up to someone.

A fun story to read.

This is the story of Landon and Henry and Henry’s kids Ryley and Cohen. This story is a clean read about going on, after your spouse passes away. Landon has decided to take a break from love, after ending a three year relationship, a year ago. Imagine her surprise when she runs into Henry at the fair. Then she sees him again, when he brings his kids for surf lessons. Can she open up her heart to Henry and Rye and Co or is she too jaded and can only be friends? Grab your copy and see what happens. Ryley with a “y” is absolutely adorable.

Widower Henry is just visiting the North Carolina island on summer vacation with his children Kyley and Cohen, while Landon is making a life for herself there. They get wrapped up in a summer romance when she’s giving his kids surf lessons. I didn’t like how he lead her on thinking they would have a life there with her when he was planning on going back to Kentucky. I don’t blame Landon for being hurt and afraid to trust him again, especially after being hurt by men before. Henry’s kids are adorable especially little Ryley with her friendship bracelet for Landon. This was a clean summer romance.

Landon is not looking to be in a relationship as she had been jilted with her past relationship, Henry is back in his home town for a summer break, a place he has not really wanted to return to after his wife’s death. They bump into each other at a fair and have a catch up. Landon teaches soft lessons and has taken a booking of 2 children, she is surprised to see that it is Henry’s children. Henry and Landon keep bumping into each other as the days go by. They start to become more than friends but Landon over hears that Henry and the children are not staying much longer. Can they both risk their hearts and try to love again, your have to read it and find out.

Landon and Henry’s journey was very emotional and heartbreaking at times. I felt like I was going on this journey with them. Being in love with someone and not knowing where you stand with them is so torturous. This is a well written story of that journey. There are no hot sexy times but just pure attraction and the process of discovering that deep love.

A great. Story with an awesome storyline and fun characters. Landon is in a job she doesn’t love and is scared of love and relationships. Henry is a widower trying to raise his two young children. Their first meeting, after years, is funny and opens the door of closed memories. The children Riley and Cohen are fantastic and add great moments to the story. Henry and Landon both have to work past their insecurities a find happiness.

His grandma bought her grandma's house when they were children. He vacationed there. Now he is a widower with two children. She was dumped by her boyfriend a year ago. Neither think they are ready for a relationship ship. Do you think they will stand a chance? The children are adorable and that should help. I enjoyed my ARC copy of this book and hope you will too.

Landon is afraid to open up to love again. That is until high school crush comes to town with his two children. She didn't expect to find love with Henry especially since he is a widower. The story shows how both Henry and Landon deal with the revelation of their feelings and that of the children.

I was given an advanced readers copy for my honest review.

It was such a sweet story about family, second chances, and facing fears. You know right away from the beginning that the characters had some serious baggage and this irresistible chemistry. It was nice that surfing was somehow the balm that soothed a lot of the aches of the past.

I always enjoy Emma Sutton books. A sweet clean romance. Landon will teach Henry’s children how to surf. Henry is interested in Landon but can Landon let go of her past and find happiness? No spoilers!
