Christmas is fast approaching, and this year, in addition to Christmas preparations and a full house at the inn, LuAnn Sherrill has been asked to step in and chair the Marietta Christmas-In-History Tour committee. But LuAnn’s love of making lists and organizing is put to the test by the overbearing behavior of Fern McPherson. Nothing LuAnn does seems to satisfy her. Things are further complicated when Jerri, one of LuAnn’s former students, comes to town to visit her sister, Michele, and Michele is immediately carried off to the hospital, unconscious. Can LuAnn and her friends make sense of the cryptic notes in Michele’s notebook and solve a possible crime in time for Christmas? In the midst of the mystery, LuAnn realizes her feelings for Brad Grimes may be something more than mere friendship. Can she sort out her feelings and decide, once and for all, where she stands?

Mercy's Song is one of the best cozy mysteries I've read. It was a perfect holiday read, but is a wonderful "anytime" book. Lu Ann Sherrill, Tess Wallace and Janice Eastman are best friends and co-owners of the historic Wayfarers Inn as well as being a sleuthing team nicknamed, " The Inn Crowd". When an ex-student of LuAnn's (Jerri) comes to Marietta (Ohio), after an urgent call from her sister, the mystery begins. Along with the current day mystery, the courageous adventure of Prudence Willard and her husband Jason, which is set in December of 1857 and is a perfect compliment to the current day mystery.

Jerri is a driven, responsible PH.d candidate who has always taken care of her younger sister, Michele. When Michele , who is rebuilding her own life, falls and suffers a serious head injury and is unconscious, it's up to the "Inn Crowd" and Jerri to find out what has caused Michele to be afraid and who is threatening her.

I loved the "mystery within a mystery", the holiday backdrop and the kind but determined ladies of the "Inn Crowd"! There are so many facets to this book - mystery, history, forgiveness, faith, friendship, humor and a bit of a budding romance.

Mercy's Song is a wonderfully written faith-based mystery that will "keep you guessing" and warm your heart.

I received a book from the author with no expectation of a review. My review is a fair and honest opinion of the book.
