Please lower the safety bar in front of you, and make certain your belt is securely fastened. We will be traveling at an astonishing rate of speed; keep your hands firmly on your book or digital reader. As you finish Six Million Accusers: Catching Adolph Eichmann (incorrectly spelled by goodreads),you may be disoriented and need to remind yourself where you are and what day it is. It's that gripping.

David Lawrence-Young packs a powerful story into a well plotted, brilliantly paced narrative in order to tell the story of the capture of Adolph Eichmann, one of the nastiest and most powerful Nazis responsible for the deaths of six million Jews in eight nations, not to mention millions more who were Gypsies, political opponents, disabled, gay, or who were mistaken for somebody else. And of course, these numbers don't include those who died in the battlefields, seas and skies of the European theater of World War II. Only Hitler and Himmler were above Eichmann in the fascist pecking order.

Because story is such a potent vehicle for the truth, the author has chosen historical fiction over a more expository nonfiction format. I think he chose well. He has a long list of previously published books that precede this one, from Shakespeare to an English textbook to other works of historical fiction, but he says this one was the most difficult, and I believe it. As is true of the finest writers of this genre, he has a bibliography at tne end of his work to let us know that the story is absolutely true; he has filled in the cracks by inventing the dialogue instead of paraphrasing as he would have to do with a work of nonfiction, but this is the real deal nevertheless. This is what happened.

Once this was made plain (I always read the introduction, and I also read the author page before I begin), I dug myself into my favorite reading corner and prepared to concentrate, convinced that while compelling, the historical journey would require full focus and strong literacy skills. I was surprised to find that he wrote in a manner that will be accessible to just about anyone who wants to read it, and the need to focus is moot, because from the get-go, he has our eyes and full attention automatically. The pace builds in a glorious arc, reaching breakneck speed as we close in on Eichmann along with the team of spies and undercover representatives of Israel's government.

The questions that arose in my mind were answered. Given that these agents slip into Argentina with the assumption that they will need to act outside that nation's unfriendly rules of law, and are essentially going to kidnap Eichmann, I wondered why the fuss. If they were willing to go that far (not that they shouldn't), why not just sail in under a black flag and cap him behind the ear? Why all the fuss and bother to smuggle him back to Israel to be tried?

And it became clear. Many other SS officers were dealt with in the manner I had been thinking of, but this man was so utterly symbolic of the Holocaust that the world had to see him tried, and Israel and her people had to lay out the facts, document them irrefutably, and wisely so, because half a century later would come the Holocaust deniers who would want to pretend the whole thing was a hoax, sham, or exaggeration, and the Nuremberg Trials make it much harder for anyone to do so.

A thing that gave me great pleasure was reading about the agents, including our nominally fictitious protagonist, Haim, who DID get out of Germany or other parts of Europe in time to avoid arrest, torture, and maybe death.

I was surprised, and surprised to be surprised, about the news that Israel had had to fight for its independence. How is it that I did not know this? On the surface, it looks as if they bit the hand that fed them; hey, they put up a Jewish homeland to help people escape Hitler, and now you're going to shoot at them?

But it turns out this was very necessary. Part of Britain's game plan was to limit how many Jews could come. They were more generous in their immigration policy than the USA, but that's not saying much. Israel needed independence in order to have a nation where all Jews could safely exist. (I won't even go into the Palestinian question which is worth many other books, a huge issue unto itself.)

Like a lot of academics, I have many Jewish friends, and though all are too young to have experienced the horror first hand, they have family stories, even legends. ("My grandmother personally rescued one of the last remaining Torahs from a burning synagogue", a colleague told me.)

But even if I had not had their friendship, simple justice would have permitted me to sigh with satisfaction, once when Eichmann was in custody, and again when he was convicted.

Don't just read this book; keep it. Share it with your children. The world must never, ever permit such a thing to happen again. It is by educating the next generation, and they the one after them, that we keep the neo-Nazis firmly on the fringes, which is the best place for them to enjoy the First Amendment rights they would gladly grind beneath their hobnailed boots for the rest of us if permitted to do so.

My deep gratitude goes to Mr. Lawrence-Young, his publishers, and NetGalley for letting me read and review this amazing novel.

(Note: after rereading my review, I realized that I could change GR's misspelling of Eichmann's name, so I went in and added the second n. A small thing, but satisfying.)

I really don't feel like I'm going to do this book justice by writing a review, but at the same time, it deserves a review. I usually will not award five stars to a historical fiction. I am almost always disappointed in them, no matter how much research was done before the book was written. This is a case where this book would get more than five stars if I were able to give it.

Nazi War criminals have been on the telly a lot lately. Through old black and white films and descriptions and accounts written by those who survived the terror, we have learned quite a bit. Still, I feel like most of the time, we watch these things on the History Channel or in films and we seem to be removed from the reality. We see the images and we know that it is not fiction, but never feel like it could happen to us. Those who went through it do not touch us on a deep, emotional level most of the time. That is where this book comes in. If you want to see the lives of people who wanted retribution for these heinous crimes up close, this book will give you that.

Yes, this is a fictional account, but I guarantee you that once you begin reading, you will forget. A lot of meticulous research went into this book. A lot of man hours of studying and learning about what actually happened make this an extraordinary read. This author also has a knack for story telling and character creation. I broke down more than once during this book, which is a rarity for me.

Although Eichmann's name is displayed prominently in the title, this book is actually more about the dedicated group of people who came together to bring him to justice. The novel doesn't focus as much on his reign of terror as it does the years after and the search to satisfy "six million accusers." I thought the way this was written made it feel very personal and easy to relate to. The author did an extremely good job of filling in the voids in Eichmann's history and making it believable.

What I came away with after reading this novel, was a sense of just how much it took to take this man down. He may not have looked like much, bookish, what today we might call a geek. He may not have felt guilt nor remorse for his actions--he was doing as ordered, by his own admission, but I came away from this book with a sense of awareness. There is darkness in this world. There are evil people who commit senseless acts of violence and genocide. Yet, there are people who will work tirelessly to make this world a better place. I think this author not only understands that, but it one of the good ones.

I would encourage anyone who has an interest in this subject to read this book. I loved it.

Six Million Accusers: Catching Adolf Eichmann
By D. Lawrence-Young
Genre - War
Plot
"Six Million Accusers" is a historical novel reliving the hunt for, and capture of one of history's most evil criminals - a leading Nazi named Adolf Eichmann.

Having disappeared after WWII, members of an Israeli organization search the world for Eichmann, hoping to one day capture one of the men responsible for brutally massacring millions of Jews, and others. Following any tip possible, eventually they discover a Jewish father and daughter who swear Eichmann quietly lives in their community, under a new name. The search for Eichmann ramps up, and the agents begin to fervently believe they have found their man.

As they get closer and closer, a plan must also be created to capture Eichmann, and secretly transport the villain back to Israel. Is it really Eichmann? And if so, what complications may arise that might destroy their plans to have this notorious Nazi held responsible for his crimes?

"Six Million Accusers" is based on historic detail, and David Lawrence- Young does an excellent job reliving the hunt for, and capture of Adolf Eichmann. Well written and easy to read, "Six Million Accusers" should be a staple of the educational discussion of WWII and the aftermath.

Review
I've alway had an interested in history, specifically periods in time when humanity is tested and no other time in the last hundred years has tested humanity than WWII. Its a time where there were heroes who were couragious and fearless. but also a time where there were individuals that were so evil, that they are infamous.

Adolf Eichmann's name is in the title, of this book, but the focus of this book is about a group of Isreali Mossad agents who were dedicated in their goal, in bringing him to justice. The novel doesn't focus as much on his reign of terror as it does the years after and the search to satisfy "six million accusers."

Well written based on true events,I found this to be thought provoking. The thought of how one man was responsible for so many deaths is horrifying and saddening. I feel that young adults should read this book, to get to know more facts about the Holocaust, its survivors and the spineless men who were behind the horrific murders. Fantastic read!

Six Million Accusers is a historical fiction novel based on the historical facts surrounding the mission to capture Adolf Eichmann, a high ranking Nazi responsible for the death of six million innocent Jews during World War II. It is the story of bringing him to justice after years of his evading it. Although the narrative is fiction, it reads like a first hand account of the activities leading to and after the capture of Eichmann.

This was an emotional read for me, as is pretty much every book I’ve read so far that has dealt with the subject of the Holocaust. I found myself in tears multiple times throughout my reading of this book. This is the first book I have read from D. Lawrence Young and I will be reading more…he has written this story so beautifully that I felt like I was actually there witnessing these events and looking into the eyes of one of history’s most terrible men.

I definitely learned a lot from reading this book. Although I had read about Adolf Eichmann before and knew a little bit about his relationship to Hitler and the Holocaust, prior to reading this book I hadn’t really known any specific details or the breadth of his involvement.

I am so glad that I was able to read this book and have the opportunity to share it with you today, I think that anyone can enjoy this book and be touched by it. It reminded me of the many failures and successes of our human history, the fragile nature of all of our lives and the fact that even if it takes awhile, good always conquers evil. Six Million Accusers is an interesting, powerful, fast paced, and beautifully written book that you will not want to put down. Read this book!

Six Million Accusers: Catching Adolf Eichmann is a gripping novel about one of the most horrendous acts in history and the capture of a notorious high ranking Nazi Official who played a key role in the "solution to the Jewish problem."

As the story unfolds we learn of several Jewish families who were able to foresee the immanent danger Hitler and the Nazi Party posed decided to escape to Palestine. Many of those who escaped join military forces and fight against the Nazis. Some are asked to take on secret missions to help defeat Hitler. The skills learned during these missions become invaluable especially after the war when Adolf Eichmann's whereabouts are discovered. The Mossad, an intelligence agency in Israel, sets out to verify the identity of the man believed to be Adolf Eichmann who is living in Buenos Aires. Their mission is to capture him and return him to Israel in order to stand trial for his crimes. Can they carry out their quest undetected before Eichmann slips away?

D. Lawrence-Young has a gift for story-telling. Vivid details and well-developed intriguing characters make Six Million Accusers an all around captivating read. Before reading the story, I hadn't really known much about Adolf Eichmann, but since i have done a little research and was even more pleased with the author's retelling of events. The discovery, chase, and capture of the infamous Adolf Eichmann is a thrilling account and the book is difficult to put down.

I highly recommend picking up a copy of Six Million Accusers: Catching Adolf Eichmann. Available on Amazon.

The title of this powerful book comes from the opening arguments in the trial of Adolph Eichmann. I vividly recall the trial and execution of this wicked man from my childhood. Over the years, a number of books have been written about the search for and the capture of the architect of The Final Solution. This one measures up to the best of them.
Told in first person, the author informs the reader upfront that the events are as accurate as research will allow but the dialogue must be given some slack. It does not detract from the story. In fact, it enhances as you are held in thrall at the various twists and turns as the Israeli operatives find, confirm and transport Eichmann back to face his accusers.
There could be no doubt they got the right man. He admitted his identity. The heinous nature of his crimes could not be disputed. Thanks to his organizational "talents", six million people accused him of those crimes. However, right to his final minutes, when asked if he regretted his actions, he said no. He was, he said, only carrying out orders. This man whom many thought looked like an unassuming bookkeeper was the worst sort of unrepentant monster Despite knowing the outcome of the story, the book still held my interest. I found myself cheering when they got away with their audacious plan. But like so many of the characters for whom his crimes had a very personal connection, we are still left with the lingering question: no matter the judgement, can there ever be justice for the victims of his inhumanity?

*I received this book for free through Goodreads from the author in exchange for an honest review*

I was very excited to win this book as I am a retired history teacher and I love reading historical novels and most all books that relate to history. This book is one that I really wanted to win when I put my name in the hat so to speak. I have always done a very in depth unit on this time period in history and have recommended this book to friends and teachers, as one to have available for students to read.

Though this book is a historical fiction it is based on fact and tells the story of the hunt for Adolf Eichmann, and his capture. The story is based on the real hunt and capture of this horrid Nazi criminal. I like that it gives background on the main character that includes some of the details that real members of the Jewish British Brigade actually lived through. It tells of the attacks on the kibbutzim in Israel and gives details that bring it to life.
Eichmann was the architect of The Final Solution and deserved to be brought down. This dramatic telling of the story behind his capture is well written and kept my attention from beginning to end. It lays out the story in an orderly fashion and the dialogue is written to enhance the facts. The details in the book from beginning to end add to the story and show how well researched the background was for the book.

D. Lawrence-Young did an excellent job of researching and presenting his research in a well written easy to read novel. I applaud him for his work and look forward to reading his other writings.

Six Million Accusers: Catching Adolf Eichmann by D. Lawrence-Young is a gripping and fascinating fictional account of the hunt and capture of the evil mastermind of the perpetration of one of history’s most diabolical deeds - the 'Final Solution.' Based on historic details, this documentary novel brings to life actual people, places and events in the planned extermination of the Jews in Europe and the subsequent worldwide hunt for its mastermind Adolf Eichmann who was living in hiding in South America.

Through meticulous research and vivid imagination, the author reconstructed the events and brings to life all the people through twenty-one absorbing and suspenseful chapters, employing his unique style of writing, building up the momentum as the search for the elusive evil man progresses. Zeroing down on a suspect, and after establishing his true identity, Adolf Eichmann was captured and transported to Israel to stand trial.

Six Million Accusers: Catching Adolf Eichmann is no ordinary story. It is not just the story of how the perpetrator of a crime against humanity was hunted down and brought to justice, but it is also the story of men and women who met, planned and followed up the cold trial with much hardship and perseverance but sang:
Unknown soldiers are we, without uniforms,
Around us but darkness and death,
We have joined the army for life,
Only death will relieve us from the ranks…

"As I sat there I could not believe that this boring, average-looking man with his receding hairline and large glasses- a man who looked like thousands of petty clerks the world over- had been responsible for the deaths of six million of my fellow Jews. "

Six Million Accusers: Catching Adolf Eichman is a documentary novel that recounts the Mossad operation to locate, capture and bring to trial Adolf Eichmann. The story is mostly told through the point of view of Haim A., one member of the Mossad team that was responsible for his capture. Haim's character is perfect for the job, he is able to speak several different languages and is a mechanic. Haim would also like revenge on one of the men who pushed him family out of their homeland.

Through meticulous research, David Lawrence-Young has recreated this suspenseful operation. What I got most out of this book was an education, and that is why I love reading historical fiction. I did know that many former Nazi were found and tried for their crimes years after the war, but I had no idea who Adolf Eichman was, his role in the Holocaust or the lengths that were gone to in order to locate him. A wonderfully, written historical drama that may not have all of the adventures and excitement of fictional novels, but accurately recounts the story of the capture of Adolf Eichmann.

This book was received for free in return for an honest review.

Everyone should know who Adolf Eichmann was and what he did.

If you don’t and you’re reading this, at Google him. He is one of the people we talk about when we say that we must remember history or we are doomed to repeat it.

And one of the best ways of teaching today’s people is through fiction. This is why D. Lawrence-Young’s fictionalized account of the hunt for and capture of Adolf Eichmann by the Israelis and their Mossad operation appealed to me in the first place.

I didn’t know much about his capture, only that he was caught in Argentina by Mossad in 1960. This book taught me so much more. And I say “taught” in referencing a fictional book because Lawrence-Young includes in extensive bibliography that makes his work all the more important. I imagine specific conversations and details might be made up but the cast of characters is not. That much is clear.

The only real problem I have with the novel is the ever-changing and ever-unclear perspective. It’s written in the first person, all the perspectives are, but I was never quite sure who was telling the particular part of the story until I reread passages for specific details or references to other characters.

Other than that, it’s an excellent historical novel that needs to be read by a wide audience.

(I received a copy of SIX MILLION ACCUSERS through NetGalley in exchange for an honest, original review. My review will be cross posted on NetGalley, Goodreads, and my blog.)

Six Million Accusers: Catching Adolf Eichmann By D. Lawrence-Young

This is a part documentary and historical novel about the capture of one of history's most evil criminals, a leading Nazi named Adolf Eichmann. One of the leaders under Adolf Hitler, part of the SS and Gestapo.

Members of The Israeli Institute for Intelligence and Security, commonly known as "The Mossad". With the help of a German-Jewish man, Haim they track him to South America. The story details, plans to find and capture the man responsible for killing over six million Jewish people during WWII.

I love learning about and reading history books. Even those loosely based on history interest me a lot - despite the fact that I am awful at remaining facts and dates history books always entertain me. I was very impressed with D. Lawrence young and the clear amount of research he had put in to this book. I often had to put the book down and reflect on just how much suffering Eichmann put people through and the sheer amount of Jewish people that were lost.

Six Million Accusers is a historical novel which focuses on the hunt and capturing of Adolf Eichmann. This book is so gripping and I honestly couldn't put it down. Young's research and vivid and detailed description really bring the horrific events in this book to life.

This truly is how historical fiction should be written. An amazing book. An amazing read. I would thoroughly recommend!

I was too young to grasp the Eichman trial when it occurred. I had a minimal awareness of the nastiness imposed on the world by this person. I was delighted to come upon this work of historical fiction in order to understand the horrors of this man.

I was surprised that this book minimally addressed what Eichman did during the war. Instead, we are treated to the story of what Israel did to kidnap Eichman and bring him to Israel for trial. I did not find any specific character or event to be awe inspiring. I found that this remarkable book was so well written that it wove a singular event with an ensemble cast of character so that I was able to fully understand the difficulties facing the young country of Israel as they chased down the infamous Adolf Eichman.

This is historical fiction at its' best - true to all the details of what happened but written in a manner that we can feel a part of the story. I will certainly look into the other books written by this author.

Mr Young has a knack of bringing history to life with his meticulous research and a style that involves the reader in the dramas of the past. He has come more up to date with his recent novel which is a compelling account of the Israeli hunt and capture of the mastermind behind the Nazis' "Final Solution", the planned extermination of Europe's Jews, Adolf Eichmann. We see this through the eyes of the only fictional character in the book who becomes one of those tracking down Eichmann to his South American hiding place. The book is full of surprises about what they found there, the way Eichmann was living and his family. The suspense is maintained even though we know Eichmann was brought to Isreal, but right to the last we are kept wondering what might go wrong with his capture and clandestine return to Israel to face trial.
This is a book that's hard to put down until at last justice is served.

Adolfo Eichmann was responsible for brutally killing Jews and others during World War Two. Eichmann disappears after the war. An Israeli organization searches for him throughout the world. They follow any tips they get to his whereabouts. Finally the Israeli organization is successful.

The author does an excellent job reliving the hunt for Eichmann. His writing is based on historical facts. It is easy to read due to the author's excellent writing. This is a good addition for the reader who wants to know more about Eichmann.

Mr. Young becomes one of my most favorite author's.

Mr. Young becomes one of my most favorite author's.

This is the third book by Mr. L-Y I have read. In fact, he asked me to read it after I reviewed two other books by him. What can I say about this one? Totally different frame of reference, history of our day, not hundreds of years gone by. It is very hard-hitting, truthful, and tearful. I watched the documentary on TV several years ago, and the book brings it to life. I do wish, however, that the Kindle edition had pictures of the safe-houses, Eichmann, and others.
I do heartily recommend this book to anyone who likes WWII history, or, like I do, the way Mr. L-Y writes.
next I am reading Arrows over Argincourt, which is my favorite period of history.

This is a gripping tale that chilled me to the bone!

Although this story is told by a fictitious Mossad officer, the author brings him to life by including historical actualities. I was immediately entranced by Hiam’s tale and exhilarated as his chase began. You’d have to be made of stone not to be affected by the characters and the sacrifices made, in the name of the “Accusers”.

After the emotional journey this novel chartered, I would read ANYTHING D. Lawrence-Young wrote. The historical significance and the brilliant manner in which this tale is delivered educates, while keeping you entertained. Excellent read!

This is an absolutely enthralling story written by one of the Israelis that found, watched and finally kidnapped to bring Adolf Eichmann to justice in Israel. The characters in this gripping, true account are all given such a depth, that you feel like you know them, and the commitment they had to bringing this brutal monster to justice. I read this in one sitting and was totally engrossed in the planning, and execution of the difficult phases going into the identification and final capture of Adolf Eichmann. I was given a copy of this for an honest review. I will read anything else by D. Lawrence Young, he is a great author.

thoroughly enjoyed this book. I have never had the opportunity to read such a great detail of the capture of Adolf Eichmann and although many personal feelings came up while reading this book, I was mesmerized at how efficient the Israeli men were able to capture and put Adolf Eichmann on trial for all the crimes he had committed against fellow human beings. Told as fact instead of with emotion, I felt this added to the greatness of this book. Being able to stand back from such an emotional topic makes the author a better historical teller. A great read in my book and one that held my attention through out.

Are you sensing a theme yet? I have been reading a lot of books about the Holocaust due to my current status as Choosing Jewish. I am a huge believe in Sun Tzu's quote "now thy enemy" (or maybe that was someone else. Whatevs). How can I possibly understand how to defeat racism, bigotry and anti semitism if I do not understand it? And so reading this book was a godsend. I loved it. Jam packed with detail and understanding, I am very pleased to add this biography of millions to my virtual library.

I was fortunate to recieve an ARC in exchange for an honest review. This was an intense and detailed read of the events leading to the capture of Adoph Eichmann, a war criminal. It took me awile to get through it (a few weeks), but I was able to follow the storyline easily. A very good read, about a story I hadn't heard much about

I just loved this book as it shows how Adolf Eichmann was eventually caught and put up for trial for his war crimes, how he fled to argentina under an assumed name and lived there with his family who didnt know about how he committed genocide of the Jews, Polish, Gypsies all the essence of the final solution, how about 6 millions people were unaccountable and how the Israelis sent in a special team to capture him.

Wow! What an amazing book. Definitely a good read on how “Operation Eichmann” came about and how justice was finally served to the mass murderer Adolf Eichmann and the expertise and vigilance of the Israeli people and their security forces.
