Finally fortune appears to have smiled on the Fitzwarren brothers.
Richard and Jack are back in England, and Richard's loyalty to Elizabeth looks like it is about to finally be repaid. Jack is afforded an opportunity to meet with his father on equal terms. Will all go well?
Will Richard finally receive the recognition he deserves? Can Jack's father finally accept him? Does England want the brother's back? Has the shadow of the Order of St John finally been lifted?
Find out in the next instalment - "A Queen's Champion."
I always look forward to Sam Burnell's next installment of Jack's, Richard's, Catherine, and Lizbet's story. And I have given every book heretofore a 5 star rating. This time, however, I give it 3 starts. There were far too many careless errors, typos, misuse of words, missing letters, missing words, incorrect and missing quotation marks.
So many I couldn't over look them.
In the Kindle copy I read, a (I think) Beta Reader's footnotes were left in the manuscript.
It was very frustrating reading.
I'm loathe to pre-order the next installment.
These were not language differences between Brittish and American. These were errors in any language.
Overall a well written historical fiction. Richard and Jack are back in London after a horrific ocean voyage that took the lives of several crewmen. Queen Mary is dead and Elizabeth had ascended to the Throne. The mystery and intrigue continues. Looking forward to reading book eight.
Have enjoyed reading this series of books so much I can barely wait to get the next one. They have everything an historical tale should have, action packed and great detail. This would be a great TV series
This book feels more fiction than history. But it is a fun read. I have enjoyed watching the main characters grow and changed. And what changes they go through in this book. Looking forward to the next installment.
Since this is book number seven in the series, and I have read all the others, it’s obvious I enjoyed them. The story in this one was as good as the others, but the poor editing and errors were horrible! If this had been the first book I never would have read the whole series. To me the most egregious error was at the very beginning when the year of Queen Mary’s death was off by five years!
I will read the next book in the series that’s still to come, but I’d be willing to wait a little longer for the editors to get it right!
