I picked this up because it was free and I love BDSM. This was all erotica, no plot, and no romance. Just a giant fuck fest! The sex scenes were great and all, but that was literally all there was to this book… got kinda boring after a while!
Loved this collection. I loved every chapter. The challenge and detail of tasks set for the characters made for very entertaining reading. The relationships fostered drew me in and I am wanting to read more about them. I liked the quality of the writing. It seemed to come from a place of strong identity giving me a feeling of confidence in the material. I look forward to reading more.
I enjoyed this more than "Fifty Shades of Grey" trilogy. It was better. Than Fifty Shades in watching a young curious young woman calling in love at first sight with a man she only knew we Sir. She found The Center for Submission Training. It showed the development of special skills to please their Dom. She took the desperate chance at love with her chosen Dom. I would recommend this book for ages 21 and over. This is an adult -themed book, not 18 and Alexa qq.
I have rated this book as a GOOD READ with a 5 stars of excellence. Easy to read, drama, humor, and the deep commitment of trust of the of the sub for the Com's ability to read and understand her. It's a sexy read.
I must confess that I only read 13% of the book boxset. I couldn't get into the story.
As an erotic novel about a woman's experience learning about BDSM at a school for teaching submissives, this story didn't sit well with me. Keeping in mind that it was written in 2014, I am disappointed by the portrayal of BDSM. The main focus of BDSM is consent, this book portrays a more mainstream media diluted idea of what the community is, which can be offensive. Also, all the students are straight women with no explanation of the lack of male or queer students. And they are taking a class about being submissives but there's slut-shaming and bullying and even space for racism? All with no discussion of STDs or the use of protection or what consent is. The ideals portrayed so far seemed to be trope-y and cliched themes found in lazy erotica.
The plot was a bit boring so far, but it is a night class setting so that may change throughout the book. We all know the term "show, don't tell". There is too much telling in this book. I prefer the author to set the scene and describe the characters' emotions and thoughts without telling me 'it was sexy'.
The characters are varied but flat. The main character misses the mark. She's judgemental about new things (like anal) and then gushing everywhere (from anal). She is concerned with being seen as 'slutty' but easily has sex with strangers. It doesn't seem like a choice a person constrained by society's ideals would make. Further, there are a lot of conflicting behaviors. For example, the main character is adamant about not having anal sex when asked, but in class when she's told that she'll have anal sex with someone she agrees without question.
Some of the sex scenes are alright. But I found it hard to get into the sexy parts when I was so hung up on the above items I mentioned.
Long story short, if you enjoyed Fifty Shades and its inaccurate depiction of BDSM you may like this. If you are part of the BDSM community...run.
Brie's Submission was a very different read for me. I don't typically read books with BDSM in them. The Fifty Shades book series is actually the only other time I've read a BDSM book and Brie's Submission is completely different. Even though Brie's Submission was too much for my taste, Red Phoenix creates a unique story with interesting characters that will keep your attention. If you love super sexy BDSM stories, then you should definitely check out Brie's Submission. I voluntarily received a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.
This was seriously close to a DNF, if it wasn't for a reading challenge it would have been. I've not read such laughable "BDSM" (yes I'm putting it in inverted commas) since I had the misfortune of reading 50 shades. Honestly has the author spent any real time researching what goes into training a sub? What a true power play relationship dynamic is?
Dear lord... what have I just read?? (In a good way I assure you!) This book has been sitting on my to be read list for who knows how long now seeing as I found it a couple years back but couldn't find a way to read it. So imagine my happiness when I'm looking for ebooks in google Play store and this pops up an says 'FREE' next to it? I was a very happy girl! I found this... I wanna say... last week Tuesday... or Monday. I can't remember, an now I'm finished!
While some reads may find some of the contest offensive or otherwise. Of a reader of erotica reads this I have to say, knocked my socks off. Seeing as it's so unlike so many of the other books out there. While most books have the Dom already and the sub as a female that the Dom likes an wants to get together with. This actually doesn't. An that's not the only thing that's so much different. Seeing as with this their's a school that girls go to; to learn how to be subs an they get trained and they learn about what it means. An in turn the reader does as well. (Although personally I have no interest in living this kind of life style, I simply just enjoy reading it.)
The charters were all different in their own way and the trainers as well. I can not tell you how hard I wanted Brie to end up with Sir in the end although I did switch sides for a while an wanted her to pick Tono seeing as I wasn't a big fan of Blue Eyes.
The fact that she still asked Sir at the graduation to collar her despite the risk of most likely getting turned down because it was against the rules for a trainer to collar a student... took a lot. But in the end she did it anyways. I must say I was shocked, when he said no to her seeing as I was so sure that he would, but when he called her back an accepted it... it may of been the best part of the whole book. An there was a lot of really good parts, even if doing so caused him to resign from being the Headmaster of the school.
Ugh! Peeps! This I think will become one of my top books for at least this year. I would say a favorite by my favorites are always changing so I can't. Now if only to find the next set... maybe I'll see if I can get my hands on them at a book store.. or wait until I decide which ereader to get an do it that way through amazon.. save some money.. we'll see!
Anyways, I loved the books an can't wait to read the next set! Hopefully this helped those of you trying to decide if you wanna read it.
this is a difficult 1 to rate ... why? I know nothing of the life style, I would be consider to know it Mrs. Phoenix really learn the lifestyle or at least research it, I would assume so??! ...but darn it I had to know who Brie would pick? I was so in the know all they way from the beginning, a girl knows, u know. ...but wonder why it did take 3 books to get to her figuring out etc. etc. I know that I would never ever get into this lifestyle ...but if you are ... enjoy it. I guess??! whatever. I enjoy Red Phoenix's writing style. fun to check out.
I had to stop reading in the middle of the first book, this is NOT anything resembling a good representation of BDSM. They pretend that a submissive is a sexual doormat that should take anything a “Dom” wants to do to her sexually, there was never any mention of Safe, Sane and Consensual, and most grievously of all, of soft and hard limits. That scene after Bree is expected to try being face-fucked and she freaks out, the talk afterward by “Sir” left me fuming, yes he said that she should have used her safe word instead of enduring, but then on the next breath he tells her she should try to overcome her aversion to it because many Do s will like to do that to her? WTF? Where is the notion of “maybe this is a hard limit for you and you should include it in your list of limits” but oh yeah, they never even introduced that. I don’t know if maybe later in the book they actually introduced that but I just can’t keep reading.
Also, there is mention that Doms can be men or women but then there is no LGBT characters anywhere? Or, you know, the expectation that if someone is gay they wouldn’t be expected to perform sexual acts for the opposite sex, or viceversa? It was like a glorified gangbang trying to pose as BDSM.
Also, the “types of submissives” on that first “lesson” is a joke, every D/s relationship will and should negotiate their own relationship parameters which can vary wildly as it is natural because no two relationships are the same, what is that nonsense of “oh you can be only a pretend submissive or submissive all the time, or a slave” jeesus.
This is as good representation of BDSM as 50 shades, at least the male characters here are not quite as psychopaths and abusive but yeah, please don’t bother with this if you are actually involved in the lifestyle in any way.
More please!! What will happen when Brie falls in love with the head master of the Submissive Training Center??
I read a few of these books years ago, and they stuck with me, I loved them!! They were the first books I read that had to do with D/s, they got me interested in it. The stories are fantastic, and the characters are really well developed!
Brie takes classes to learn to be a submissive. With everything she goes through she grows. But she is torn between four men she would like to serve..who will she pick. The journey Brie took to become a sub and to who she picked as her Sir and than what life was like after that...A very wonderful read that I couldn't put down.
Abandoned. Maybe a training center like this isn’t completely unrealistic, but I would have liked it if there’d been more details about expectations, consent, etc. It felt like a silly pornographic story with no real basis in reality that didn’t even really have a plot. Flat, uninteresting characters that I couldn’t connect with was the final nail in the coffin.
I still need to finish this series... THIS is how you do BDSM!! Very 🌶️ with lots of story and character insight throughout the books. Who cares if the series is 20 books long (and still going...)? I'm determined to read them all!
Oh my. First, let me say that the subject matter in this, and subsequent books, of this series may offend some people. Not everyone understands the D/s lifestyle and not everyone finds it their cup of tea. I do. And it is rare that I find an author that understands it and can write about it in a way that is both hot and sexy AND entertaining. Oh, and I might add, informative, for those among us who think that Fifty Shades was anywhere near accurate. Brie is the absolute top of her class at Submission Training, and the Headmaster has caught her eye from the very moment she sees him. But in between the beginning and the end of this book, you'll find hot, steamy sex (and love) scenes. You will also find characters developed so well that they stay true to themselves throughout the book. Color me amazed. I am already on the third collection in this series, so will review them as collections rather than individual books. PLEASE read these in order. If you should skip a book, you will miss the nuances that make the D/s lifestyle so attractive to those who practice it (or even those who only enjoy it occasionally). Besides, I don't know one reader of this genre who doesn't like a bit of adventure while reading. This is a panty melter, guaranteed.
Since I was scolded by a novice reader one time for giving away too much of the book, I'll stop there and allow you to read it on your own. I highly recommend it. Even if you aren't a fan of submission and dominance, I think you'll find it highly enjoyable.
So I picked this box set up after seeing it on offer via Facebook as free. I quite enjoyed the three books, although truthfully at this stage I would have given it 3.5 stars, only because I have now read up to book 9 in the series will I give it a solid 4 as the series gains strength as it progresses. This books are quite compelling and I believe Red has some knowledge of the BDSM lifestyle as it is mentioned in one of the dedications in the books. I found the overall the flow of the books was good and the troubles that Brie and Thane have to overcome helped to develop the characters and build a re pore with the reader. The 'scenes' were erotic and extremely well written, showing love and compassion throughout, whether the scene was with a collared partner or any other submissive. I think a great sense of community, friendship and love through the BDSM characters was conveyed by the author. So you're thinking if they are so good why only 4 stars. Firstly, although this is essentially a romance, I think Brie can come across a little bit too good at times. Secondly there were times in the earlier books where the friendship between Brie, Lea and Mary seemed a bit too wacky and girly without enough depth of emotion. Finally and this is something that really started to irritate was the continuous use of the word 'manly' referring to Thane/Sir's various body parts!! Surely there are enough words in the English language to vary it with say masculine chest, sexy thighs, strong, muscular, please anything except manly!! When all is said and done I thoroughly recommend these books wholeheartedly.
This was my first taste of Red's writing and I'm completely smitten! Brie's Submission is wrote exceptionally well! The plot and characters are absolutely flawless! By far one of the best BDSM books I have had the pleasure of reading! The details in this book are exceptional and well versed! You can tell the author has done her research and knows all a great deal of information on the subject. This book was complete sophistication and sensuality.
Brie Bennett is a aspiring film maker currently working at a tobacco shop awaiting her big break. Her life was drastically changed when a mysterious man leaves her a simple business card. Brie quickly finds out how little she truly knew of herself and her true desires. Brie's life is about to change in part one of her journey.
Thane "Sir" Davis is headmaster at one of the most respected BDSM training schools in LA. He was content with his position and status. He was intense and scorching HOT. He had no idea fate had other plans for his life until it blindsided him.
Overall I can't stress how satisfied I was with world that the author conveyed for Brie during her journey! The submisse training center does everything you would expect it to do. Thoroughly train women on how to be the perfect submissive for their future Masters. I must admit I was almost jealous of Brie and would gladly hand in my application to The Center! If your looking for a erotic scorching HOT read this book hands down slays any other BDSM book I have previously read! 5 stars almost feels like a insult to this book!
