Vampires exist and have finally been categorised into three main groups by the remaining governments dealing with the outbreak; The Ferals, blind and grey skinned, the Stalkers, pack hunters and the Mirrors, dark reflections of humanity.
When a researcher goes missing, Matt is thrust out into the world to find them and bring them back into the safety of the Walled Cities. Except, rumours of a new category is spreading. And at the rate at which events are going, it might be already too late for survival.
I. Ogunbase is an up and coming author starting with his first book, 'Counting The Seconds', and the recently released ‘Alpha’, which is the first book of ‘The Hierarchy Trilogy’.
He's an avid reader with some of his favourite books including the ‘Wheel of Time’ series, the ‘Malazan’ series, the ‘Harry Potter’ series, the ‘Old Kingdom’ series and alike. As his influences, he enjoys writing and musing about fantastical and supernatural stories.
He also likes to dabble in answering random writing prompts around the internet, across different genres as it ‘gives him a chance to exercise his literary muscles whenever he can’.
When not writing, or working, he spends his time either playing video games, coding, reading comics and novels or enjoying movies with his fiancee and friends.
Ok kids, this was a gooood one. Verging on great but with a few too many oopsies that I personally couldn't abide very long. So let's get down to it. In The Hierachy, we get a new look at some old enemies, with a twist. I shan't tell you what is going on so just grab this book and start reading!! Now, oopsies were near and far in this book. I get so into what I am reading that any little oopsy bounces me out of the story. PROOFREADER please! I hope you enjoy this book as much as I did and I am quite looking forward to tne next book. Great job author Ogunbase!!

I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review. I could not get it to this book. I will try the book later. I will be reading other books from this author.
I have read A LOT of vampire novels in my time. Good ones, bad ones, indifferent ones. Often, no matter how good a book is, there's something missing.
Originality.
Alpha, however, is stunningly original. Part vampire thriller, part dystopian adventure, the end result is total awesomeness.
The characters are vivid, believable, and will win you over quickly. The world is richly drawn without becoming self indulgent, and the way that the characters interact with the world is completely realistic.
I'll continue with this series, and HIGHLY recommend it to fans of vampire stories, dystopian literature, and vivid horror.
*I received a free copy of this book from the author via voracious readers only in exchange for an honest review* I liked this book. It’s nice to pick up a book about vampires that is more traditional in the sense that vampires = bad guys. Don’t get me wrong I like twilight, vampire diaries and the house of night series a lot just it’s nice to have vampires that are actually scary for a change. I really liked the concept of having different categories of vampires, I would have liked to see more about the mirror category but maybe they’ll come up more in the next book? Overall it was fast paced easy to read and I loved the big bad persona of the alpha. Excited to see what happens next, love a cliffhanger.
