This had all the elements I enjoy, but despite that, I thought several times about abandoning this series. My rating is 2.5 rounded up. I felt like there was a lot of filler and although the opportunity for drama and angst was there, it was never really fulfilled.
I thought this one started out great and I was really interested in it, but it just fizzled out about halfway through. Liam was way too hot and cold with Samantha which got pretty old pretty quick. I had trouble connecting with Samantha as well. Enjoyed the first half and didn't much enjoy the second half, so it ended up being an okay book when all was said and done.
Overture- This novel is a perfect execution of combining classical musicians with a suspenseful and thrilling forbidden romance! I wish I didn’t have to wait until May to read Concerto!
I've never read a book by Skye that I did not enjoy and get lost in, but Overture is by far my favorite of hers to date! The suspense in her stories, the emotion the characters feel for each other, and the secrets they hold is all the power needed draw me in. This is a very compelling story told by both Sam and Liam, which I appreciate. I love reading into the minds of all characters so that I can take in all perspectives.
The age gap between Liam and Samantha holds a different aspect than most of her other work. All in all, I enjoyed this telling from a girl growing into her woman-hood and the feelings she develops for her guardian. It just so happens this guardian has noticed all the qualifying details of her personality and has fallen just as hard for her. Nothing sexier than catching the attention of an older man. in my mind, Samantha's character is very mature for her age and her need for affection is what she craves from this man. The beauty of this story that caught my attention is the passion these two have for Samantha's talent of playing classical violin. Music is my heart and soul, that's all I needed to hear to have me one-clicking on my purchase.
Concerto - Book 2 of the North Security trilogy continues as Liam and Samantha both venture on in different directions after leaving the compound in Kingston. The storyline of Concerto is just as illuminating as Overture if not more, and the classical references are just the cherry on top. Only Skye could write a forbidden love story with such elegance but still keep the allure and intensity of this couples chemistry. Seriously, my palms were sweaty from all the steam and sexiness that is Liam. His devotion to Samantha and her safety is limitless. This is a compelling continuation of a masterpiece that will leave you mesmerized!
Samantha is preparing for the launch of her first international tour as a guest to the immaculate singer, Harry March. When Liam sets forth on a quest to discover the culprit behind Samantha's attack in Kingston, problems arise when Alistair Brooks, Samantha's father, is presumed to be alive and behind the attack on her life. As Liam distances himself from the violin prodigy, his only acquisition is to eliminate the threat on Samantha's life. Secrets begin to unfold, and Liam begins to question the loyalty of his security team.
Sonata - Sonata is the third installment in the North Security Trilogy. It's a bitter-sweet ending to a couple that I have come to love in what started out as a forbidden romance. After the epic ending in Concerto, I was sure that these two were never going to reconcile their romance. Liam always seems to keep Samantha at arms length while keeping her so close.
Liam and Samantha cannot seem to find their middle ground. Liam will always continue to fill the role as her guardian and finding a balance that will separate his guardianship versus being her lover is hard to maintain. This man will hold all restraint if it means letting her go. Yet he cannot seem to keep Samantha out of his sight. The angst in this book is killer.
Samantha, on the other-hand, has experienced a multitude of violence and death in her life. By having the security of Liam as a child versus as an adult, she finds comfort in his security but seeks the affection that Liam refrained from giving her.
We get a few surprises in this book and I love the action that was written into the story. I still seek the closure in finding out what happened to Samantha's father. I hope to find it along with reading about Josh and Bethany's story in Audition.
Please, Please, Please keep writing about all of the North men! I've fallen victim to your work and I need more!!!
A new hit from Skye Warren, Liam North become a guardian for a twelve year old Samantha Brooks. Until she turn eight teen and they both realise their feelings are far from a father and daughter. But something evil lurking in the shadow. Not just the taboo of their turn out relationship, the truth about why Liam become Samantha guardian also have chance to change it all.
Now... Liam North... Have mercy...even his name on my lips make me a fool for him. That man... That beautiful, tough, torture soul of a man... Gaaah I want to grab him by the shoulder and shake him while screaming, "whyyyyy! " Dang all sexy Alpha book husband! Liam North makes me crazy!
And Samantha... My beautiful Samantha. I'm screaming like a loon cheering for her. This young lady is amazing. Skye Warren breath a beautiful soul in her.
Love every detail the author sew in Overture. And all those extra FYI on top of every new chapter? I love that!
5 Show more Review Second book from the trilogy, we start Concerto from Samantha step in Grand for her first performance. Leaving her heart in Liam's hands, Samantha know she could never leave him. And with the truth of why Liam became her guardian is now in the open, Samantha need Liam to see her as a woman and not this twelve year old girl he saved and feel guilty about. With the succes of her first world performance, danger lurk. Evil from her past is coming to get her. At the end, Samantha come to face choices. Her love to perform or Liam. And Liam, he must choose. Loving her as a woman or being a martyr who love and would die to protect her.
With this second book, I get more suspence from the danger lurking for Samantha. Not just the complicity of Liam's struggling his feeling for her. I love how Samantha get all grow up. In the first book I see a glimpse of it when she fight so Liam would see her as a woman and not a child anymore. And succeded at the end, if I may add. In this second book, I love her mature vurnerablity when she realise she needs more from Liam. Not just the hot chemistry between them. Not just his need to protect her. How she realise he can't or won't give him self to her and Samantha know, with her world might crumble, she have to let him go. For me, that's the greatest being a woman. She know when and how to fight same as when and how to let go although it hurt so much. And Liam... I love you, but man, you got get your act together! I'm gonna be a huge spoiler if I keep this review up. So I'm just gonna let that go with Liam😔
Over all, Concerto is a sexy taboo romance with a hint of suspence and action. And cliffy! Need the third and last book like...yesterday!
3 Show more Review I don't want it to end😭 Have you ever read a book or series you love so much you don't want it to end, you read it deliberetly slow just to prolong but end up finishing it in one sitting because they won't let you go? That's Liam and Samantha's story does to me😭
Five star for this trilogy! I can't wait to read Bethany and Josh's story, but Liam and Samantha definitly won't be forgotten. Amazing and brilliant and full of passion story telling, I applause you Ms. Skye Warren
Overture This is story of Liam & Samantha. Liam is Samantha's Guardian since she was 12 years old, since her father died. She had a terrible childhood. She is afraid that everyone she comes in contact with will get tired of her and eventually leave. She is an accomplished violinist. He was 28. That was 6 years ago. The story begins when she 17 years old. They are highly attracted to each other. He is very protective of her. Once she turns 18 she is determined to make him see her as a woman. He has always been in a dark place in his life due to his childhood. He started and owns North Security, which is very discreet in their operations of what they do. His two brothers, Josh and Elijah are part of it. There is an accident when she goes out with her friends on the day she turns 18. It is a suspicious one. Liam makes sure she has a bodyguard at all times, even when she can't see them. There were advances on both their parts towards each other, until finally they get together. She leaves to go on tour. Looking forward to the next book to see what happens. Great writing keeps you glued to this story.
Concerto This is the continuing story of Liam & Samantha. His brother Josh is in this story a lot, also. Samantha is learning how to stick up for herself instead of having Liam do it for her. Josh is her bodyguard on her tour with her playing the violin. Liam & Samantha have these raw emotions. Liam doesn't want to admit to them still. He becomes her bodyguard himself. There is a lot of action in this story. There is a surprise at the end of the story I never expected. Very well written. I can't wait to find out what happens to them both in the next book.
Sonata This is the last part of Liam & Samantha's story. His brother Josh and Bethany would be the secondary characters. It is jammed packed with action. North Security is trying to keep Samantha alive, due to a threat to her life because of her father. Liam, at one point, finally lets go of all the guilt he has felt for years, enough to stay with Samantha. I would have liked to have read about their wedding, though. It was a great series. I didn't want it to end. Looking forward to Josh & Bethany's book.
The North Security Trilogy (North Security #1-3) was a great read by Skye Warren. This set consists of; Overture, Concerto, and Sonata. Overture (North Security #1) was a great read by Skye Warren. Samantha is a violin prodigy who will be going on tour after graduating. She also hides the fact that she harbors feelings for Liam, her guardian. He has custody of her for six years and hides how badly he wants her. He will do anything needed to keep her safe. Concerto was another great read by Skye Warren. This is book two in the North Security Series. Samantha Brooks finds herself in the spotlight on opening night of a global tour that she is a part of. Unfortunately for her there is something dark happening around the tour and her safety may be at risk. Liam will do anything to make sure that Samantha is safe no matter who it is against. The danger is from someone that they never would have expected. Sonata (North Security #3) was a great read by Skye Warren. Samantha Brooks feels as though she is nothing without her violin. She has a battle in her heart, the fear to love Liam North. All Samantha wants is to compose her own ending. I enjoyed reading this book and cant wait to read more by the author.
