This was a great read and kept me on my toes. The world building had a War of the Worlds vs. Stephen King’s “The Mist” vibe to it…and I loved it!! I enjoyed that, amidst the chaos and destruction around the main characters of what was happening…the story was a continuous flow. I felt more like I was with Logan and Hazel. Part of their group, as they went through the madness around them, trying to navigate on ways to survive and keep Abby and Jack safe. Hazel was an incredible supporting character: strong, selfless, sacrificial. And always able to ground Logan, even when she was the one who sacrificed a part of herself she’d never get back.
B.L. Teschner has a gift! Definitely enjoyed this!

This book was great. Reminded me of world war z. Held my attention the entire time. I thought about the book when I was at work and was so excited to read it when I got home. Best book I’ve read this year.

Oh my gosh!!! SO GOOD!!! SO SO GOOD!! I decided to give this indie author a try after stumbling across one of their Tik Toks promoting this piece of theirs, and the plot sounded so up my alley in regards to the type of horror thriller it was, and it's dynamic of choice with the natural disaster brings forth something far more sinister vibe, I couldn't get it on my Kindle fast enough! Once it was there, I couldn't put it down!!! From the moment I started I was grabbed by the situation that started playing out with force within the first chapter and my eyes could barley keep up with my brain trying to find out what was going to happen next! This story is so entertaining!!

The main characters in our story are very well structured and make you both fall in love with them and fear for their lives. Logan is a widowed father with a 9 year old daughter just trying to find his footing in his future after being so shaken by the loss of his late wife. His neighbor Hazel is a kind soul, navigating her own past heartaches and truly appreciates Logan's friendship as their neighborly energy is clearly starting to burn into something more after so many years of supporting one another as good friends who live so close to one another. When the earthquake hits, you are shook to your core as much as the main characters, and the high anxiety energy is ramped up ten fold as their community around them crumbles to the ground and the earth below cracks as wide open as both of their hearts in their past pains. Much like navigating old traumas, the destruction left behind after the quake is not easily mended and Logan and his 9 year old daughter Abby, along with Hazel and her trusty dog Jack, are forced out of the comfort and safety of theirs homes to seek out help and safety amongst far more than the natural disaster they think they are.

This book hits the pavement running and doesn't stop. As we trek through through the suburbs and into the city after such devastation, Logan vows to keep the girls that mean most to him safe as they try to reach his mom, brother, and Hazel's sister. As they head out into the chaos, they start to find more dangers than just the left over destruction of the earthquake, but monsters so horrific they can't even grasp the reality they have been thrust into.

Our characters team up and push forward in an epic team of character identities that bring all the elements as our story unfolds. We have past traumas and heartache, loss and grief, addiction and sibling conflict, new relationships and friendships, but above all else, you see self sacrifice and how in times of great chaos the importance of being able to step outside yourself to help others will always help you land on the right course.

This book has it all. Fear and anxiety that will leave you bouncing your leg and widening your eyes, not knowing what will happen next alongside epic action scenes against panic inducing monsters around every corner. I loved the way this story played out in my head like a binge worthy show you would watch. Every chapter had me screaming next episode!! I loved this book!!! I desperately hope to get my hands on the rest of the series.
