Sparks fly as a people-pleasing paramedic and a hardened ER nurse clash in the final installment of the bestselling Lakeside Hospital medical romance series.
Sarah would do anything for her friends. Whether it’s dog-walking, babysitting, or even planning someone else’s wedding around her demanding paramedic shifts, the word ‘no’ isn’t part of her vocabulary. But everyone cracks under pressure eventually, and unfortunately for Sarah, her breaking point comes one day when she’s delivering a patient to the Emergency Room and finds herself the focus of the nurse’s attention, instead.
When a cute paramedic passes out in her arms, Veronica wonders whether there’s anyone left in the world who can take care of themselves. First her long-time girlfriend cheats on her, then she expects Veronica to comfort her about the betrayal, and now the paramedics are dropping like flies. She hydrates Sarah – and lectures her on not letting her friends take advantage of her – and ignores the surprising chemistry that builds between them while Veronica is at her bedside.
Even though all their Lakeside friends are coupling up, it would never work between them – Sarah’s too malleable and Veronica has an iron will. Once her mind is made up, that’s it, because if she’s wrong in the ER, people die.
That’s why she’s not swayed when her ex shows up unexpectedly to collect her things from their apartment, or even when she makes such a fool of herself that the ploy ends with an emergency call. But when Sarah is the responding paramedic and Veronica watches her give mouth to mouth to her ex, something stirs deep inside her.
Could this tender-hearted fool be the soulmate she’s been waiting for all these years? Unless Veronica can break her cardinal rule and give Sarah another chance, the chemistry building between them is doomed to remain hypothetical.
I write stories that explore the thrills – and challenges – of falling in love as a woman-loving woman, including the bestselling Lakeside Hospital medical romance series and Rainbow Award honorable mention The Rules of Love.
My books are for you if you’re a fan of contemporary romance, if you love strong women who aren’t afraid to be vulnerable, and if you like a little heat with your sapphic love stories.

Sarah Robinson is a paramedic with a secret crush on Lakeside Hospital’s ER nurse, Veronica. For almost three years they’ve been having a very low-level non-verbal eye-footsie playing out, but Veronica has a long-term girlfriend. Besides which Sarah has decided that Veronica is way too gorgeous and way out of her league. On one of her hospital runs, Sarah blacks out in Veronica’s arms. It just so happens that that particular day is really awful for Veronica since she’d caught her girlfriend in bed with another woman just that morning. So Veronica is not in a patient or loving mood towards the world and gives Sarah a mouthful about what she, Veronica, thinks about her, Sarah. While their first real conversation wasn’t particularly good, later interactions start changing things between the two women.
The end of the series, Cara Malone did a fabulous job pulling it all together with a strong group of friends, and amazing couples. Lakeside Hospital is a must read series. I truly enjoyed reading about Veronica and Sarah. Along with catching up with all the other couples.
Oh! You know when you go away and come back with some friends and it is as if you've never been apart. Well, that's like Lakeside Hospital and me. Brilliant. Love it!
The fifth and last in the Lakeside Hospital series. This is the romance for Sarah, the people pleasing paramedic, who grew up in the foster care system. ER nurse Veronica has just broken up with her cheating ex when she catches Sarah as she faints in the ER. It is the beginning of a new relationship. They kind of jump in with both feet too quickly and I like how they ease out and take their time. I find it interesting that the author has many of the characters in the various books have issues that are addressed but not always solved in the time frame of the story. For example in this story I learned that workaholic Krys from book #3 cut back her shifts at the free clinic to help make time for her relationship. I thought this one was a little steamier than others in the series. It also give catch up and a nice closure for all the couples in the series.
Cute love story with some chemistry and some angst. Both Mains are likeable. I have only read the last two Lakeside Hospital romances and they all seem to be standalone romances. I would read again. 3.5 stars.
The hospital crowd is finally settled. Another good read from Cara. This is the last book in this series. An EMT and a hard core ER nurse have been eyeballing each other for years. A change in partners allow them to finally get to know each other. A lot of angst but a HEA we all look for. Enjoy
Irresistible This is the fifth book in the Lakewood Hospital series but it works as a standalone too. Sarah is a paramedic who has a wonderful circle of friends and will do almost anything for them. Spreading herself too thin she faints in the ER. Her secret crush, Nurse Veronica catches her, unfortunately, Veronica’s not in the mood for foolish women who forget to eat and gives Sarah an earful. Veronica is dealing with a break up of her longtime girlfriend who won’t just won’t go away. She doesn’t have the time to deal with gorgeous paramedics who happen to fall into her arms…or does she?
I loved this book. It was very well written, with all sorts of lovely romance and drama. I loved being able to see the characters from the other books in this book as well. It was like visiting old friends and meeting now ones. They played a big part of this story where Sarah finally gets her chance at love. This story was so good that I couldn’t put it down and finished it in one sitting. It also made me want to go back and read the other books all over again. The relationship with Sarah and Veronica is so sweet and felt so genuine and natural… I adored the sexy bits but loved the closeness between these two women every bit as much. I liked watching them grow as a couple and take on the challenges they faced together and individually. They both have such strength and determination and they make a wonderful couple. I highly recommend this book actually, the whole series and I can’t wait to read them again!
This is the fifth and final instalment of the Lakeside Hospital medical romance series and I think it is a great way to close this series. Cara Malone did it again and gave us a beautiful, heart-warming story. This book can be read as a standalone.
What happens when a stubborn ER nurse and an equal stubborn but people-pleasing paramedic find their paths fate entwined?
Sarah is one of the kindest and selfless persons there are. She is willing to do anything for her friends or for anyone who is in need of help. She is a paramedic who has been having a crush for one of the ER nurses at Lakeside Hospital for a while and thinks she is so way out of her league but dreams with an opportunity to be with her anyway.
Veronica is an ER nurse who takes her job very seriously, she knows if she gets distracted lives will be lost. She isn’t having the best of her days; she just found her girlfriend of six years cheating on her and her mood is foul. When one of the paramedics she works with on regular basis passes out in her arms, she doesn’t care how cute she is and chooses to ignore the clear chemistry between them; she can’t believe she of all people isn’t taking care of herself, she lectures her about it and not letting everyone take advantage of her good nature. Her words aren’t very kind and they stuck in Sarah’s head, making her think whether Veronica is wrong or not so much. As fate has it when her ex goes to collect her things and an emergency call is needed, turns out the responding paramedic is Sarah. It is until Sarah is giving mouth to mouth to her ex that an unexpected feeling stirs inside of her, strong enough to consider get to know Sarah better and give her a chance.
Will these two different women give up their stubborn ways to let the other in or miscommunication will tear them apart?
Along the series, we have been able to watch the stories of the different characters. This time we witness the last building romance of the series. It has a well-developed plot and character growth. I liked the way Malone went on the different twists and entangled their paths to keep the interest and shape their story. This story let us learn about the inevitable bumps in the way to happiness, like miscommunication and emotional baggage; but also, there is always someone no matter how improbable it seems, that will make our journey better if we let them in.
I liked Sarah and Veronica; although we have seen them previously in the series, was good to know them better, to watch their stories. Somehow I could relate to both of them, a bit of both personalities remind me of me at some point in my life. Sarah is very lovable as soon as you know her, her good nature makes her easy to like. Veronica isn’t less lovable, despite being so different from Sarah; you can tell she has the heart in the right place.
In conclusion is a well-developed romance, emotional and heart-warming. Cara Malone did a great job closing the series and it is one I’d gladly recommend.
I received an ARC copy of the book from the author and voluntarily leaving my review.
This was my first book by this Author and based on what I read I was expecting a lot more than a shallow u-haul thrope.
Sarah is an EMT she over extends herself for everyone, mostly for her friends but it stems from a past she had no control over so she hopes this will change the outcome in her present.
Veronica an ER nurse just got her heart broken by her long term girlfriend and lashes out at Sarah who is secretly harboring feelings for her. A few weeks later, an accident, a text and a spa date later; Sarah has that chance to be more to Veronica. Ok that's a good start... How did we go from Sarah over extending herself for two weeks to them been together for months? There's barely any communication between the main characters, the build between them wasn't sufficient and who really leaves someone for wanting to be there for them? This book needed more depth and it just wasn't enough.
Even at the end after all Sarah has done I found it so selfish that she still could've have her moment as just hers and Veronica they still needed to share. I understand been a good, caring and loving friend but really? I'll give this Author another try with another book maybe this one just wasn't it
I loved this this. The story was capturing and both the characters were sweet. Well, Veronica was kinda cold when they first met/connect as she just got out of a long termed relationship, but then she turned out to be the sweetest girlfriend. Plus, All their friends were lesbians too. But after about 65% of the book, Sarah decided to be a dump a-hole, she was being so insecure, and it's clear as daylight that they're so into each other. She even asked Veronica if she was happy with her, and if she wanted a break, even tho Veronica keep telling ber how much she liked her. Sarah's insecurity toned down my excitement of the book. But, the book was good, it sure gave a positive vibes to the readers. I really recommend this for a light read.
I know that these can technically be read as a standalone, but the introduction of side characters who already have their happy ending threw me off just a little bit.
Sarah and Veronica were a nice couple. Not entirely sure Sarah's issues were resolved, but it had a satisfying ending. Neither character had a very strong or identifying personality though, even if their personalities were technically discussed.
Again, they did talk about their shortcomings, but apart from Sarah fainting none of it seemed to cause an issue.
I did enjoy this, and may give the others in this series a try.
I love the Lakeside series and this is yet another couple that Cara has you rooting for. Big hearted paramedic Sarah has nursed a long term crush on ER nurse Veronica, and one day literally falls at her feet after a rough day. Romance ensues but the path is rather bumpy. We catch up with a lot of familiar faces which feels like a warm reunion of old friends. Recommended if you like warm, fuzzy stories that reaffirm that there is goodness and love in the world.
Mouth to Mouth isn't a bad book, but I had a very difficult time connecting with either of the main characters. Based on my experience reading (and reviewing) Ms. Malone's work, this isn't typically what occurs. It isn't a matter of the characters being poorly written, or any issue with the situations they found themselves in, it just didn't click for me this time. Despite this, I will continue to look forward to reading anything else written by this author. This book was provided to me free of charge. My review is given voluntarily.
The main characters really had a hard time getting together and once they did had quite a dramatic episode before their relationship settled down. The drama of a breakup of one of the main characters and the love from afar of the other main character was a different approach to the story. The inclusion of the passing out by the EMT in the ER and her being caught by the nurse she had a crush on was a nice piece of humor. The sex scenes were well written with a lot of heat in them. Overall a very good story.
Veronica finds her heart broken not as broken after a 6 year relationship ends. Her Anger and hurt come out and is aimed at Sarah who collapsed from lack of nutrition. Their friendship is challenged but can love find a home. Cara Malone gives a brilliant Lakeside romance. I love the dialogue and sexy unrequited crush Sarah has but Veronica finally let's her heart explore love. Such a special story, great read and hot romance.
Another lovely romance. This time a paramedic Sarah who. had a crush on a nurse Veronica who worked in the E.R. for a long time. But she had a girlfriend. But one day she was in a mood. Poor Sarah hadn't eaten and was feeling a bit lightened due to not haven't not eaten and she fainted Sarah caught her before she hits her head. Now this story takes off. Sara Malone who wrote this series did another good job writing this.
I really loved this book. It’s the fifth and final book of the series and it did not disappoint at all. I enjoyed the interactions between Sarah and Veronica immensely. Betty was quite the characters and her iguanas made me laugh. I would love to read more from the Lakeside Hospital group in the future. This is another wonderful story from this author and I would definitely recommend it to others.
I love stories with a medical setting so I've been delighted with this book. Actually, with the whole series. Also, I enjoy seeing the characters from the other books and how they are doing as the new romance is developing. In here, all the characters from all the stories are tied up so that was a plus. Even though this is the last book of the Lakeside Hospital series, I hope there are new ones to come, new stories, new characters. Perfect ending for a perfect series.
I have read all the books in this series and have enjoyed every book. The characters are very well developed and likable. The romance in each book is very well done. Thanks for another chance to catch up with the characters in this series. Waiting for the next book in the series.
Sounds like lakeshore hospital is cupid'shome base. This was another sweet romance with a few twists and turns but delightful and page turning. Each of the series are individuals and read in any order but don't planning on doing much when you start one. Spoiler alert there is an HEA.
Have just finished the Mouth to Mouth series of Lakeside Hospital and really enjoyed it! Love all of the series because you get to know each character in series as you go thru each book! Thank you for letting us read more and more of these great books!
Because this was the best one out of the four story because it went through how the life of a ERNURSE and a paramedic life is like in the field and how they had too work out their differences and how they have too depend on each other and their patients how too handle falling in love with each other.

This was another great story filled with characters I had met in the other Lakeside Hospital stories. Also having new characters show up. Great Love story.
A beautiful story about two different people who want to take their chances. Passionate dialogues and intense moments. A stand alone book of the series which nicely links all the previous characters. Loved it
I have read all this series of books, and have not been disappointed with any of the books. This book took me just 2 evenings to read. I am now disappointed that the series has come to an end.
