What a beautiful and inspirational book! I loved john's very real and vulnerable account of his journey, blending science and spirituality for the benefit of his patients. This book is full of humour and heart.
I couldn't put it down.

The Red Chair is one of those books you won't want to put down until you've devoured every bit of it. Centered around psychiatry and the successful treatment of a patient who is in dire straights, we meet a remarkable woman named Judy. She is desperate, funny, brave, and lovable. Dr John Webber provides a detailed account of the significant challenges Judy overcomes during her long treatment, highlighting how hypnotherapy and past-life regression become instrumental when conventional methods fall short.

Webber's writing is both honest and engaging, offering a strong reflective voice on his practice and its evolution. The narrative is compelling as it unfolds, the reader experiences transcriptions from real regressions and gains insights into how these unconventional methods provide a life-changing treatment for patients. Gaining a perspective of real people's past-life regressions is not only informative but truly empowering.

I recommend this book to anyone interested in a captivating non-fiction read exploring alternative therapeutic approaches' transformative power.

As one of Dr John’s regression patients,
I was humbled to see into others experiences in comparison to mine. Judy’s story was such an inspiring read, one of tenacity, faith and trust.
Trust with Dr John and his incredible care, but also trust of the collective, that there is more to our three-dimensional world.
Trust also in our own experiences starting from a bigger purpose, leading back into lessons, growth and (platonic) love.

I also loved how Dr John writes, witnessing such a kind personality and his own honest accounts.

This book taught me that it’s okay to think outside the confines of our understanding of life itself, and to reflect more symbolically for my own path and evolution.

Thank you Dr John for so bravely challenging the status quo, in an industry so regimented in past rigidity of science.
Only when we encompass the whole, can we truly learn and heal.

It was interesting but not what I thought it would be. I do think John Webber is a very compassionate, lateral thinking doctor whose openness to exploring different pathways with those he cares for is therapeutically advantageous. I'd rather have someone like Dr Webber than a strictly by the book psychiatrist. I felt it would not have hurt though to look at this from a winder perspective that just a personal and experiential kind of narrative. For instance, has past-life regression been used in other cultures or countries therapeutically? Does it have possible negative outcomes for some people? Can it be psychologically examined rather just accepted as a metaphysical phenomena?
On the other hand, It is a nice, easy read and possibly hope-giving for those who feel 'stuck' and might like to see help in an unusual direction.

Fascinating, illuminating and Refreshing

It was refreshing to read a book that left me uplifted and soul satisfied. I felt like I had gone home to people I loved for a good meal, conversation and then was tucked in for a peaceful night sleep. Seldom does a book answer existential questions and at the same time provide a fascinating insight into the hidden world of the therapy space. It was hard to put down. A truly remarkable and resilient woman whom this Dr treated is one of the main subjects in the story and her resilience and courage as well as fascinating self insights during past life hypnosis regressions lead to rapid improvements in her emotional resilience as well as increased joy and peace. Loved this book. Well written. Great read.

Webber’s personal account of the power of past-life therapy is truly inspiring, convincing and written with warmth. By the end, it’s possible to feel a little transformed. What an exciting discovery he has made for anyone invested in the mental health sphere. His depiction of Judy is humorous and heart-warming, which equally reveals the true humanity of both sufferers and clinicians. This book is a worthwhile read for anyone with an open heart and mind or anyone in need of hope that struggles can be overcome.

I'm a psychotherapist with an interest in spirituality and I highly recommend this text. I was blown away by the courage with which John opens himself up to this new type of therapy and is prepared to look at the evidence in front of him rather than stick to the mainstream scientific paradigm. The book discusses a complex patient of his for whom treatment-as-usual wasn't working, and then how his explorations of past-life regressions end up making phenomenal changes for her. It's hard to read this and not be changed by it. Such an inspiration!
