When a feisty human steals a gargoyle’s spirit-stone, all bets are off…

Beaumont prides himself on his stellar fae kill record, but his life is upended when a feisty, human female challenges him to seduce her and steals his spirit-embedded stone. He’s on a quest to save his soul, yet this woman makes him harder than a rock, and for a guy who spends his days encased in granite, that’s saying something.

Crafty and swift, Sadie learned to pickpocket from the best mentor ever—need. After she runs across a tall, sexy gargoyle and steals his most valuable possession, she’s up against more than can she handle. As he hunts her down to retrieve his precious stone, he stirs a passion she didn’t know existed…and can’t resist.

Gargoyle Night Guardians protect human souls from the evil clutches of dark fae. Be careful, though, gargoyles aren’t your average hero for within each guardian rests a questionable soul, one ripe for redemption and eager to become worthy of what we all crave—love.

DNF. I never quite understood what it meant to read a SAPPY story because there are many terms of interpretation and I know it's horribly rude to compare authors but, once you've read from the crème de la crème of PNR authors....I suppose comparing them couldn't be helped. The story focuses on (too many) characters, even the antagonist's side of the story. Frankly, I'm thirteen chapters in and the H/h barely spent much time together unless you count being groped in the dark and sharing one kiss.

I didn't like the heroine. She was SO SAD - and it's repeatedly pointed out she has SAD eyes. Boo-fucking-hoo...the way Sadie's story was written, I couldn't relate (and it just seemed like the author's trying to get brownie points for painting Sadie in a sad light...I would appreciate experiencing it for myself than being told). She annoyed me mainly because of her occupation and maybe how it was written because I've never felt annoyed with thief characters before and I'm sure it's not my honourable conscience speaking.

The male lead...was sappy and personally, uncool. And I didn't like the blonde witch in the story who presumed Beaumont (our male lead) had been leading her on when he sure as hell never did anything untoward. At that point I'm more like I WANT TO SEE BEAUMONT AND SADIE not some pathetic woman trying to jack him off in the shower. 🙄

Long story short...for me...I wasn't captivated and the characters felt like they were everywhere and trying too hard to BE that it takes the fun out of reading this story and such a pity because Gargoyle romances are hard to come by and the ones I find are...like this one.

OVERALL if you enjoy simple SIMPLE paranormal romances that barely scratch the surface...this might be your thing. Not mine. I only felt annoyed, and that's a sign for me to jump ship.

I have a *thing* for the more obscure paranormal creatures, and gargoyles are at the top of that list, since so few are written. Add in an author who is a firm favourite, and really, you can't go wrong!

And I LOVED this gargoyle book!

It has twists and turns, new additions to the folklore of gargoyles. It has a feisty young lady, with an old head on her shoulders. It has an old solider, with a hardened heart. It has a scorned witch, and some bad as sin fae folk who want nothing more than to destroy all the gargoyles!

Beaumont (not ever shortened to Beau, so many Brownie points!) is old, and actually has had enough. Faced with his little pickpocket stealing his most precious stone, he knows that he will die if he doesn't get it back. But since meeting the feisty little thief, his attitude is changing, and maybe, just maybe, he can find it, and be happy with Sadie.

I loved that Beaumont only calls Sadie her given name but once in the whole book. She's his little thief, his pickpocket, all those sorts of names. Why? He doesn't like that Sadie contains the word SAD! I was like, "oh thats so sweet!"

I liked that Sadie's sister will play a huge part in another gargoyle's life, in book 2. And I wonder if the scorned witch will be making another appearence in a later book to redeem herself.

Ms Redd has started a new series with a bang, and I hope to get to read them all!

5 full and shiny stars!

Marie's Tempting Reads ARC Review:

Heart Bandit did it for me...it stole my heart, breath and soul! This is the BEST beginning to a new series I possibly could of imagined. Heartfelt, unique, crazy interesting and sexy too, this story had such amazing descriptions and played out brilliantly in my head the whole time I was reading it.

Beaumont and Sadie's chemistry was OFF THE FREAKING CHARTS! I loved Beaumont's charm, protectiveness, kindness and his honor ever so much while Sadie's spirit, vulnerability, beauty and kindness had me wanting to reach in the book and hug her as well as befriend her. The moment these two meet, I saw the sparks fly and romance bloom like a beautiful rose. The scenes were just as magical, intense, and spectacular too. This new Gargoyle Night Guardians series intrigue me and I am already anxious to read the next book.

Heart Bandit gets a WONDERFUL FIVE HEARTFELT STARS!

Great start to a new series! The author brings strong, well developed characters with a hot chemistry and weaves an interesting story. She brings it to life with her detailed and descriptive writing and pulls you in with the building tension. I was hooked from start to finish reading. I loved and would recommend this book.

Great story but we are never allowed to see what exactly Beaumont sees in Sadie to make him fall so instantly in love with her. She isn’t sympathetic at all, she steals from him, deceives him and gives him (and the reader) little to go on. Still, the story, itself it unique and enjoyably creative and entertaining.

Sadie and Beaumont

I have read from this author before and when I saw a series on gargoyles I downloaded on my unlimited account ASAP(as there are not that many out there compared to vampires, werewolves, witches and most shifters)I
The storyline was great a little different with most supernatural books there is a risk of the story all ready been told because of the rules most writers keeps two with shifters looking for mates etc if they can or can't change someone, vampires if they can or can't walk in Sun or live of animal blood etc you get my point I read a lot and supernatural is my favourite so at this point it's hard to read a original (not authors thought)but this one is a little different but similar to.
We meet a 800 year old gargoyle Beaumont (he is sweet) the original is they become gargoyles after death to give them a second chance because there soul was not evil but they fell down the wrong path and did one act of evil, the goddess needs soldiers to look after the humans from fae so they serve until they are tested but they will not know when, if the do good the become human again.I was hoping he would be a shifter maybe a dragon/gargoyle? It's set up for Hannah and Seth next.

HEART BANDIT is the first book in the Gargoyle Night Guardians series, and we start off with Beaumont, who has been a Gargoyle for over 800 years. We find a new world of evil fae, the Critch, dubious souls, and an unwillingness to give in. Sadie does what she has to, to survive and plan for her longterm goal of getting her GED. If this includes pickpocketing, then so be it. However, all things change when she takes Beaumont's spark stone.

Rosalie Redd has created a world of interest, with strong alpha males and feisty females to keep them on their toes. There is no "insta-bond" between our two main characters, just good, old-fashioned lust and interest. There are plenty more characters I can't wait to hear about, not limited to Drake, the leader of the Chicago Gargoyles who you don't actually see much of.

The world-building is wonderful, the characters come alive, and the pacing is smooth. All in all, this has been a great read and I can't wait to continue with the series. After all, I'm really hoping for Drake!

Stole my heart!

Hooooly woooooooow! This is the first book I've ever read by Rosalie Redd, so I wasn't sure what to expect in the story. What I found was a whole ton of wonderfulness and a story I never wanted to end!! If you're on the fence about this book, don't be. The detail, scope, and writing are amazing. The characters are compelling yet relatable and oh so perfectly portrayed. The build-up and tension in the story were also pretty darn masterful and several times I had to set my Kindle aside and settle myself back down.

Ms. Redd's take on Gargoyles and the Fae were original and interesting, showing great imagination. (Which I adore. I'm a sucker for a book with impressive imaginative display.) I was completely blown away by this book and eagerly await the next!

thoroughly enjoyed

I haven't come across many books with gargoyles in them but totally enjoyed the 1 series that I have read so I was definitely intrigued when I came across this 1 book in the series by this author who is new to me. I thoroughly enjoyed this book, it's well written and it had a great story line and enjoyable characters, the only thing I would say is that I would have liked to have known a bit more about the main characters backgrounds,
looking forward to reading book 2 when it is released.

This is the first of three in a series. This book tells the tale of Beaumont, a gargoyle who protects humans from the dark Fae. He loses his spirit stone to a feisty woman - Sadie, who steals to survive in the world. It is a story or redemption and a growing relationship between these two characters. Emotions come to the fore for both as time passes. Each having to re evaluate their lives and feelings. A great read and look forward to the next in this new series.

Stones, tantrums, and second chances

This was a gargoyle story with a few twists. The fae are portrayed as beautiful yet evil creatures that are after humans while the gargoyles are their protectors with assistance from witches. More than anything, this story centered around redemption, battling past demons, honor, and love. I liked Beaumont and Sadie and their strengths, flaws, and grit.

Entertaining and unique ideas, and the writing is pretty good. Loved the gargoyle aspect, and the Fae stuff is interesting. There’s some cool action scenes too. Beaumont is a gargoyle that protects humans from evil Fae, but when petty thief, Sadie, steals his spirit stone, his days may be numbered. Without the stone, he’ll perish. When he first saw Sadie, there was an attraction and pull between them, but both have their own issues with intimacy. The quest for the stone ends up being a lot more complicated than Beaumont thought. Loved Beaumont’s protective nature; he’s a sweetie of a gargoyle. I wasn’t a fan of Sadie; she was a bit too pity party for me, and her thieving ways didn’t endear her to me. She has had a tough life, but I prefer a more admirable character that has a stronger desire to do right; she has a bit of that, but I didn’t feel like she tried hard enough to better her situation. The romance does have some steam and they do have a good connection. Overall, it’s a sweet connection. I do want to read the next book; sounds like it’ll be a good, interesting premise. This book was a fun read with some cool ideas, so I ended up doing a 4 star rating.

Beaumont life changed the day he died and now thanks to the Goddess Rhiannon he lives again as a Gargoyle that battles the Fae there always up to mischief against humans. But Beaumont wasn't a good guy in his first life but a betrayal from the one person he should trust caused him to be in the first predicament now a petite thief who lives life on the edge trying to survive and stay hidden from her own past is going to end Breaumonts second life if he can't get back the heart stone she stole from him. Sadie has had a hard life she does bad things like steal from people that save her but she feels bad about just not enough to stop and that stone has got to be worth allot of money. Now Beaumont needs her to get the stone she pawned back easier said than done it's gone and they have to find it or Beaumont will die for real this time. Both Beaumont and Sadie are looking for redemption there both done bad things and don't trust easy but together there perfect for each other there's action steam and lots of bad guys in this book.

I was allowed to read and advance copy of this book via Booksprout and this is my honest review.

Fast-paced fighting action with lots of heart ❤

4.5🌟stars
Gargoyle shifters are a new favorite of mine and author Rosalie Redd's story gives these stone shifters a solid, elevated purpose and a mystique that I really enjoyed.

👥Beaumont, the centuries-old gargoyle hero, is a really sympathetic character, for me even more so than human pickpocket Sadie, the troubled human who puts his continued existence in dire danger but fills him with thrilling attraction. There's some intense fighting against the malevolent fae and their minions, and the romance between Beaumont and Sadie builds to some steam and touching self-sacrifice worthy of an O. Henry story.

I also liked the worldbuilding aspect of the story, which was clearly described yet had some more nebulous aspects that eventually work in Beaumont's favor. Altogether an exciting and emotion-stirring, standalone with no cliffhanger!😌

I read a complimentary advance copy of the book; this is my voluntary and honest review.

Beaumont was made a gargoyle when he died because his fiancée was having an affair with his brother and she lied about who killed her and his brother. Him and his fellow gargoyles had to watch and save the humans from the fae. One night after Beaumont save Sadie a theft from the fae she hit him and stole his heart stone and sold it. He cornered her a few times but he had to fight the fae and lost her, finally she told him what she did after he told her what would happen if he didn’t get it back. But Gabriel bought it and gave it to the fae leader Marco to prove his loyalty. Beaumont fell in love with Sadie even though he was dieing. They finally caught up with Gabriel and found Sadie’s sister too. Marco threatened Beaumont he was going to crush his stone, but Sadie helped him get it back. He let Gabriel live even though he was bad, so then Beaumont became human since he passed his test. Him and Sadie stayed together and Hannah too.

***This book was given to me in exchange for a fair review**

Unsurprisingly, Rosalie Redd does it again. She has created a book that is both intriguing, heart felt and interesting. I'm always interested when a book contains things that are rarely done. While I have read a few books that contain a version of Gargoyles, they are few and far between and not as well written as "Heart Bandit"

While Sadie was not my favorite, as far as leading ladies go, i grew to tolerate her. It makes it hard to forgive a character for doing something so immoral. Stealing his wallet was survival, the stone...that was a bit much for my readers soul. Beaumont saved her life, that was just a hard part for me as a reader to get passed. But, Beaumont seems able to let by gones be by gones, so here i am.

In the end, while I had a few upsets (Marco was a bit cheesy as a villain), I loved the story itself and find Redd to be a great writer and story teller.

She doesn't just steal his heart stone, she steals his heart along with it.

He strives to do the right thing after his life was ended and he got a second chance to make a difference by protecting humans.

She lives a life of loneliness and fear. She made a mistake and trusted the wrong man. It lead her down a difficult road.

Together, they get a chance to heal.

I really liked him from the start. He has a real desire to help others. He doesn't blame her for her actions. He accepts her for who she is and her mistakes too. She doesn't like being a thief but feels like she has little choice. She can't forgive herself so she needs someone like him to show her another path.

They really do have great chemistry from that first crazy meeting. It leads them on quite a journey and the ending is perfect for them both.

I am voluntarily reviewing a copy I received.

Beaumont has his spark stone stolen and must get it back or die.
Gargoyle Beaumont Laroche had protected humans from Fae since 1192AD but a pickpocket could end all that.As he had tried to protect the female she had taken his wallet and pried his spark stone loose and now if he does not find it he will disappear into the Ether. Sadie was shocked to see these otherworldly being but habit makes her take the wallet but then she spots the stone on his chest just above his heart and pops it out in the hope of making some cash. Even as she pawns the stone she wonders what it means to the Gargoyle and what will be asked in repayment. When Beaumont finds her he makes her assist him in finding the stone which by the time they go to the shop where she had pawned it the stone has been sold.

This is my first “gargoyle” book. I must admit I really liked it. It was action packed, drama galore and lots of sexual tension. Beaumont Laroche was turned into a gargoyle when he died by the goddess of sun, fertility, and domesticated animals, Rhiannon. Gargoyles are in war with the fae and they are also tasked with protecting humans. During a battle with some fae, Beaumont encounters and has to save a beautiful little pickpocket named Sadie. After the danger is over and he is knocked unconscious by a pot plant, the little thief steals his wallet and his spark stone. Without his spark stone, Beaumont will die. The search begins for his cute little pickpocket, thief and bandit...he has lots of names for her and can’t get her smell out of his head. This is a great story and I’m looking forward to reading the next book in the series.

Killing me Softly.

Love this new short series, really pulled at my heart strings!

Sadie has long given up on having a normal life and the guilt for leaving her sister Hannah behind eats at her everyday.. All she knows is how to steal, that's what her ex taught her, now she hides from him while trying to stay afloat by stealing. She didn't count on her last heist to work on her conscious or, change her outlook on love so drastically.

Beaumont has no expectations on ever living as a human again, he is doomed to live in Gargoyle from when the sun goes down. Now that which keeps alive has been stolen by a pickpocket and she not only stolen his soul, but where his heart as well...Only time, which is very short, will tell if she will return his life as is it once was.

Can't wait to read the next book in this great series.

I've just recently become an avid fan of gargoyles and this book is one I love! Beaumont is the first gargoyle we will get to know. He has a story from centuries ago and it still haunts him. On a routine hunt with his friends, he runs into Sadie, saving her from a dark fae. Her repayment to him is to steal his heart stone. I hated her justification, but I liked that she helped him every time. Beaumont has to deal with trying to find this thief and get his stone back, all within a couple of days. He also will be betrayed by someone he trusted to help the gargoyles. This is the beginning of an exciting series that will give the Warriors of Lemura series a run for the money, and it was fantastic. I requested an advanced reader copy and am under no obligation to leave this review.
