The Prince kisses her, instead of her twin sister.

Elise never intends to marry. Marriage is far too restricting, in her estimation. Instead, she grasps what freedom there is in running her Great Aunt Annalies’ boarding house. When Danyal, newly crowned Prince of Pandev, kisses her by mistake, her delicately balanced contentment is shattered.

Danyal isn’t in England to find a wife, as society believes. An English wife would offend the Balkan Separatists who threaten his principality. Such a wife would also defeat his desire to separate his family from the stained reputation which dogs it, which the former Prince, his uncle Kosta, was never fully successful in removing.

So why can he not stop thinking about that simple—delightful—kiss, and the woman he held in his arms for only a moment?

This book is part of the Scandalous Family—The Victorians. This is the second spin-off series to feature a new generation of the Great Family, who are now scattering across Europe and beyond in search of adventure…and love.

Praise for previous Scandalous

If you haven't started this series, start right now and you will fall in love with this very unconventional family during a time when rules, etiquette and unwritten rules had to be followed or the lack of them would bring scandal and ruin to an entire family.

I love these books. Tracy creates these characters so well and with such care. I really recommend reading this series.

I am overwhelmed by how much I have enjoyed this series so far. It was not superficial fluff as I thought it might be when I began. Cooper-Posey books have touched on so many universal themes.

Her characters are admirable people who love their family and are capable of deep romantic love as well.

I just love this series and the books just keep getting better and better. This series takes us on a romp through historical times, which I love.

If you haven't read this magnificent series you must do so now; you will love each story, be moved by each of them, fall in love with the heroines and heroes, you will cheer for them and just as loudly boo the villains.

Love this series and have bought them all.

This entire series is filled with so much love for each other and family, that there is no way you cannot be emotionally drawn into each story.

3.5 stars, rounded up because pretty book covers deserve to be rewarded

Elise, kissed by a prince who mistook her for her twin sister, finds herself fascinated by a kiss that should never have happened. So is the prince. Wishing to banish the memories of that magical kiss, they decide another kiss under more pedestrian circumstances ought to do the trick.

No? Perhaps another.

No? Perhaps if they spent more time together they would tire of each other quickly.

Really, they’re only fooling themselves. The one thing they’re not fooling themselves about is that they must end it because the citizens of his country would never accept an English wife.

This was my first book by this author, and I liked her command of language and the assurance with which she penned this story. As this was a novella, the relationship between Elise and Prince Danyal was based more on magic kisses than on conversations and personal interactions. More problematic than that, though, was this was barely a standalone. It felt like I began reading in the middle of a book, struggling to figure out who all these people were and why princes would be kissing ladies who run a boarding house, and then more characters were introduced but it felt like I should have known who they were already, and some of them were just passing through on their way to future books. Elise and Danyal’s romance was complete in this novella and the author did answer some of my questions along the way, but good luck figuring out what was going on with all the other characters coming and going.

I would read another book by this author, but only if I could read the entire series in order.

Fabulous story; I loved it! Elise and Danyal are an incredibly romantic couple and Great-Aunt Annalies is brilliant. These characters will grab you, make you part of their family, and never let go.
Tracy Cooper-Posey is an astounding writer!

This story focuses on Elise Thomsett, Lilly and Jasper’s daughter, and Prince Danyal of Pandev (you might remember his uncle, Kosta, from Emma’s story).
Elise has decided that marriage consists of too many compromises for women and so swears she will never marry and has thrown herself into the role of butler, along with her twin sister Ann, at Great Aunt Analies’s bonding house.
Danyal is in England only to rid himself of the Marquis of Blackawton title in order to sever all ties with England and return to Pandev where he can concentrate on ruling his people as best he can while under the Ottoman Emperors thumb.

Ann and Danyal meet first and during a case of mistaken identity he kisses Elise. Sparks fly. The connection is undeniable, though neither of them want it. Elise, because she never plans to marry, and Danyal because he plans to have a proper Pandevanian wife, as his subjects expect.
And so ensues their game of trying to be as offputting as possible to each other, showcasing all their flaws and shortcomings with the hope it will douse their ever-growing attraction to each other. Of course it doesn’t work, but it is amusing to witness.
Love always finds a way though the way is usually most unexpected.
This is a great story of love, compromise, staying true to yourself, sacrifice and honor, with Tracy Cooper-Posey’s signature strong characters, gut-wrenching emotions and soul-deep connections.
We also briefly get to see Vaughn and get a small glimpse of what his life has been like the past 5 or so years and I cannot wait to delve into his story. I have a feeling it will pull on our heart strings even more than usual.

An delightful and unpredictable period romance!

The story is unpredictable with interesting insights into the social climate of the times. The characters have delightful interactions and a delicious happy ever after! Yay!
An enthralling romance and yet still a story of a woman of those times (Suffragettes are making progress) learning confidence in her abilities and coming into her own power.

This is no 'simpering miss' for a heroine and the hero is admirable for trying to do the right thing, as a Prince, for his people. They have such delightfully delicious chemistry too.

Another spectacular addition to the new off-shoot series all of which involve the 'Great Families'. I have loved all the surprises in each of the enthralling love stories and adventures for every novel, in each series.
The latest series keeps each novel fresh and unexpected because the times and challenges each character faces are a reflection of the very different changing social reforms facing England and the world at this time.

It started with a kiss a mistaken kiss given to the wrong twin! Independent Twins; Elise and her sister are living with their Great Aunt Elise and earning their keep in the joint role of Butler in their aunt’s boarding house for young ladies. Danyal, Crown Prince Pandev is in England awaiting an audience with Queen Victoria when their paths cross.
There was so much I loved about this book. The pace was fast & I was surprised how quickly I devoured it. Delightful old and new characters added to the enjoyment of this. I've read many books by this author and she is truly a gifted storyteller who always delivers a riveting story with well-drawn out characters and a compelling, captivating plot.
I would recommend this book to any readers who enjoys historical romance with the added bonus of revisiting these characters in futures books and getting a glimpse into how their lives have progressed.

Another fabulous read by Tracy Cooper-Posey. “Her Rebellious Prince” was such a great read that I could not put it down until I was finished. What I truly enjoyed the most about Tracy Cooper-Posey’s work is the imagery in each of her books, it draws me in every time. I just love the descriptions of everything in the story.

Elise’s twin sister Ann is trying to find a husband and sets her eyes on Prince Danyal. But when at a dinner that Ann didn’t go to the Prince Danyal kisses Elise thinking she’s Ann. That’s when he found out they are identical twins. After that kiss the two could not stop thinking about the kiss. From then on I was hooked and wanting to know what will happen next. I really enjoyed reading this book. I highly recommend this book.

I was given an advanced reader copy of this book for my honest review.

Her Rebellious Prince is the second book in the Victorian’s scandalous families’ series and again we are immersed in a universe that is difficult to leave.
This time we are following the adventures of two twin sisters, Ann and Elise, that live as boarders and butlers of an ancient townhouse. The challenge of making ends meet with a tight budget and a very old house in need of repairs is a daily struggle.
Ann wants to find a rich husband that will give her a life of leisure but Elise wants an independent life and the work as a butler is a challenge that she relishes. Ann meets Danyal the Prince of Pandev, a distant cousin, in a visit to her parent’s estate and decides that he would be a good husband.
But fate manages to join Elise and Danyal in a dinner engagement and a mistaken kiss will start a forbidden relationship.
A great story that reminded me of Mask of Nobility one of my favorite books from the previous series and that makes this book one my favorites as well.

Tracy Cooper-Posey has got a way with words. In “Her Rebellious Prince" she has again given us a look into the “Great families" and how they help each other to live the way they want in a society that expects everyone to follow strict guidelines.
After the families fortune was lost, Elise and Ann work as the butler to their Aunts home to help her and give themselves a way in the world.
Elise unexpectedly meets her twin sisters man of the hour which leads to an eventful story. The ups and downs of this relationship makes for a great read. The book is a quick read and highly recommended.

An Amazing Trip Back to an Earlier Time!!

I simply adore these stories, and their related series. It is not an easy time – societal expectations abound; especially if you are female. When Elise is mistaken for her twin sister Ann, and the recipient of the kiss from Prince Selahattin Danyal Bora of Pandev, lives are impacted.

Brilliant case of mistaken identity, the trials of being a ruler, and the decision whether to tie yourself to another. The reader is transported to an earlier time, and feels a part of the action.

This is the story that starts with a kiss between Elise and Danyal, Prince of Pandev, who thinks he is kissing her twin sister and ends with a happily ever after. Tracy Cooper-Posey is a brilliant writer who delves into the past with realistic details and vivid descriptions. There are depths to her characters that make them seem so real. The story takes place in the Victorian Era and shows the dark side of the highly moralistic and rigid English Society of the times. Well written and exciting, I loved this book!

Yet another brilliant book by Tracy, from this extended family.
It was absolutely fabulous the way she brought everything together, from the twins having to work to keep their mother's house afloat & help keep them in some sort of good graces. To still keeping up appearances in other circles, especially when it came to a Prince.
The story went on to believe it or not a young lady traveling half way around the world because she received a letter she shouldn't have.....what a great story, broke my heart when the book had to finish, but what a finish.
Thanx yet again for a brilliant book Tracy.

A terrifically wonderful love story. Twins, one dying to marry above her station, the other wanting nothing to do with marriage at all. Fate sees it differently. Under mistaken identity a Prince is met; a Prince who must marry well in order to keep his people happy. It's understood by both that there will be nothing between them. Too bad their natural urges don't seem to agree. That's it, all I have to say, as you will have to read it to learn all the intrigue, danger, marvelously sensuous loving that may happen in the beginning, inbetween and the end.

Anna and Elise, managing the Board House. I love that they are twins but completely different. This is Elise’s story and she is the independent one, with big dreams that do not include marriage. But one kiss... one kiss... with a Prince, living in tense political times, might change her heart. As any book from Ms Tracy, it is wonderfully written in a way that takes you through every one of the chapters like you are living in their time. I can’t get enough of these scandalous family!

Another great book of Tracy Cooper-Posey! The story is captivating with a solid history background and the characters are likeable and unique, not only the main but all the members of the family. You can almost feel the love of the author for her creation of „Scandalous Family“ and their descendants.  I voluntarily reviewed an Advance Reader copy of this book.

There are so many reasons these two shouldn't be in a romantic relationship. In spite of this, from the moment they meet, they are irrevocably drawn to each other. While trying to convince each other, and themselves, that their mutual attraction is something neither wants or needs, they fall in love.
This is not a formula romance. The individual characters are very much their own men and women. There is very little that is predictable. The greater social movements, like the rise of the middle classes, the stirrings of revolution in Europe contrasted with the rigid Victorian society and some upper class women realizing that they both can and want to work for a living, but regarding themselves as harlotd, because they feel sexual desire, are all beautifully reflected in interactions of the characters.
The Great Family wanders and strides, in their own inimitable way, into the Victorian Age.
