Sloane has been on the run from her emotionally abusive ex-fiancée for months. Now she finds herself attending college in California, in hopes that her FBI agent ex won't be able to locate her. She's done her best to stay away from everyone, trying not to get attached in case she has to disappear again.

...Because Sloane would die rather than let Pierce lay another finger on her.
To support herself she works as a teller at a local bank and on an ordinary day at work, her life will change forever when she gets kidnapped at gunpoint by four masked bank robbers.

But what happens when she realizes that she knows those four men from college? Suddenly, Sloane fears for her life because she’s now a liability, bound to get them identified and caught. Especially when Pierce catches up with them and a wild chase across three states begins.

But things get complicated when her kidnappers turn into her protectors... when Sloane can’t help but feel safe with the brothers Royce and Blaine, with the intense and gorgeous Kaden and even with dangerous and crazy River.

Their futures, their hearts, and their lives hang in the balance when she realizes that each man was robbing banks for a reason.

I read this one a long time ago, maybe at the start of the year? not that long but yeah... but then I forgot its name and never remembered it until now when it popped up on my screen.

the main reason I "forgot" this book even existed until now is because it was b o r i n g

I just felt the plot had many flaws and lets not talk about the Stockholm Syndrome in here, because she apparently falls for each and every one of her captors within a very short period of time like tf?? you are a normal college student who has been kidnapped and who's life has been uprooted but nothing affects you?? thats unrealistic. I have read captor/captee romances before but at least they were believable unlike this one.

3.5/4 ⭐

This story was so original and captivating.
Sloane and her bank robber guys were hot and steamy. Lots of twist and turns. Lots of secrets and lies.

𝘐𝘯𝘴𝘵𝘦𝘢𝘥, 𝘴𝘩𝘦’𝘴 𝘴𝘪𝘭𝘦𝘯𝘵 𝘢𝘯𝘥 𝘸𝘢𝘵𝘤𝘩𝘧𝘶𝘭. 𝘐 𝘧𝘳𝘰𝘸𝘯 𝘣𝘦𝘤𝘢𝘶𝘴𝘦 𝘵𝘩𝘢𝘵 𝘵𝘺𝘱𝘦 𝘰𝘧 𝘴𝘵𝘪𝘭𝘭𝘯𝘦𝘴𝘴 𝘰𝘯𝘭𝘺 𝘤𝘰𝘮𝘦𝘴 𝘧𝘳𝘰𝘮 𝘭𝘦𝘢𝘳𝘯𝘪𝘯𝘨 𝘪𝘵 𝘵𝘩𝘦 𝘩𝘢𝘳𝘥 𝘢𝘺.

All the guys - Royce, Blaine, River and Kaden could all tell there was something to cause her to be so skittish and shutdown at certain things. More than the split second worth of being abducted and held hostage. Slowly and vaguely she opens up about her past relationship and what she had endured. Some of the guys choose to open up and others are forced to.

I liked the extra aspect of her ex and all his crazy, obsessive acts. It brought a little bit extra that was needed in the story. He needs to get his karma soon though!

That cliffhanger!!! I need to know what happens ASAP- off to start book NOW!!

Despite the title, this book only includes a sprinkle/ pinch of Stockholm syndrome, as the kidnappers are all quite nice and I don't think they would be considered criminal masterminds. Their footballers (The American sport). Chapter 6 is also called ‘Stockholm Syndrome’, so the author definitely sees the humour in it.

👇Spoilers👇

A brief synopsis - She has run from an abusive ex and works at this random bank in Californa, while attending college. The bank get robbed by 4 footballers that she goes to school with, some other sh1t occurs and they take her hostage.

From the start of the kidnapping its apparent that she is pretty comfortable with these guys. I think the familiarity with them from school helped, but also it's very much ‘the devil you know’. On a side notes, the book starts with an MMC Pov, which surprised me, but in a good way.

Now the guys...

She has a thing with Kaiden at the start, but then almost immediately myself and the fmc forget he existed. He just disappears.

I assumed River would be the funny golden retriever type, but he isn’t and can be a little scary at times. Hot scary, but still scary.

For all the guys it went from attraction to infatuation really quickly. *Sign* The build up was there and then suddenly there was just a switch. The pet names started trickerling in and I honestly assumed I missed a chapter. Where did this come from?

It's pretty cheesy at points and these parts were essentially why I stopped reading at 56%. Another dnf to add to the pile.

For context this was the scene. They are currently on the run and have just avoided a police chase (there was a train track and everything),then they are in the car and he tell her he made her a playlist. B1tch what. When did he have time to make a playlist. Between driving hours on end to escape, traveling to different banks to store the money and doing general things, like sleeping and eating, when did this man have time. I think little cheesy scenes like this are trying to show how obsessed they are with her and it just fell short for me.

The FMC personality is very flippant. She escaped an abusive relationship, distanced herself from her whole family to keep them safe and shows frequently that she is a very strong woman. So why does she cry so much, about such stupid things. I think these scenes are used to make the guys seem super caring and protective, but I don't think she needed to be changed into this delicate person suddenly. She was a badass and she’s been made into this damsel.

Okay read. There are just part that annoy me. My DNF rate is very high atm. So this may be me being picky.

I really enjoyed this book. I thought the bank robbing aspect was really interesting and gave it something unique to stand out from other rh books. Sloane is a good fmc, she has a vulnerability to her mostly caused by her ex, but she was strong enough to escape him and handle being taken by bank robbers.
Each of the guys added a little something extra to the story and I loved how different they were and yet still rallied around Sloane.
Overall, I loved the book and can't wait for the next one to come out!

This book was so good. One of my absolute favorites this year . This book is a emotional shit show and I couldn’t get enough. I hope Pierce dies a slow painful death and the rest of his family goes down with him and maybe even Sloane’s parents especially if they condone his behavior when she explained a little of what was going on . What kind of parents don’t make sure their daughter was ok?. Kaden , Kaden 🤷🏽‍♀️🤦🏽‍♀️🙄 I need the next book

Running from her ex, who just so happens to be an FBI agent, Sloane has tried to start a new life far away. She has enrolled in college in Florida. She kept to herself and bothered no one. But what happens when a day at work, turns into her being kidnapped? Not only that but kidnapped by men she knows. They have secrets but so does she.

I really enjoy both of these authors so when I knew they had a book in the making, I was sold. Let me tell you, did not disappoint. The story caught my attention from the start. Sloane, she is a fierce character, and refuses to give up. I like the fight she has. She is mouthy, and is not afraid to go for what she wants, once she figures it out. I mean you are being chased by your ex, who is an FBI agent. I would be scared of what he could do too.

The guys, wow!!!! I fell for them from the start. Even grumpy and a little dark River. Each one has their own personalities, and I really enjoyed them each having their own pov. When we get to know each one more, I fell even harder.

That ending had me going nooooo!!! I really need to see where this leads. What will happen in the next book. So overall, I really enjoyed Steal Me and would highly recommend this book!

Wow, what an exciting roller coaster of a story this was!! The whole premise of the book is original, and I loved seeing the different sides of these sexy criminals. What starts out as a hostage situation quickly turns into a situation where the MC has feelings towards the very men that took her. Then add in a cross country run from an abusive ex and you have a gripping story that had me up in the middle of the night til I finished! I can not wait to see what kind of trouble this unruly gang get into in the next book 😍

This book is raw and real and I can't wait, no I need to know what is going to happen next!! Sloane went through so much with Pierce, but she wasn't going to let him destroy her. This story is not for the faint of heart and it will make your heart break. This book is full of twists and turns and unpredictable. I've been left at the edge of my seat and ready for the next book in this series!! It is FIRE!

DNF at 36%
This duet has been on my tbr for ages! And the plot is right up my alley and one that I'm always in the mood for. Unfortunately the idea of the plot, which was enough to get me this far, was not enough to keep me reading any further. The book needs editing (too many run-on sentences, improper/missing comma placement, misspelling main character names), and the contradictory statements and repetitive phrases happened too often for me to get past.

Steal me, indeed!

Oh! What a point to end this book... I need more! An engaging rollercoaster of emotion, of adventure and of the delicate balance of right, wrong and wrong for the right reasons. A fantastic story with strong character development, steamy sexy times and room for so much more to come... I hope!

Thank you so much Melissa Adams for sending me an advanced copy of this book. Please note I'm voluntarily leaving my honest review!

This is not normally a trope I enjoy, and I usually go out of my way to stay away from it. However, the cover and blurb enticed me enough to want to read it.

The plot is enjoyable and I loved that there was at least one twist I did not see coming. The characters are well developed and the guys are bloody swoon worthy. Seriously, each of these alpha arseholes are amazing - and they almost deserve a star for each of them.

What dragged the story down for me was Sloane, the leading lady. To me she was obnoxious, childish, bratty and entitled. I totally understand where Ms. Adams & Ms. Sinclair comes from. Sloane have been through so much abuse at the hands of her ex, that she's ruined. I spose' this is what makes her seek validation in literally everything. And while it is consistent with the story, it was still slightly annoying to me. But I think her most annoying trait is her double standards. She haven't exactly been completely honest and upfront with the guys, yet she feels it's totally okay to act all high and mighty if they don't spill all their secrets.

There was a few inconsistencies or things that made me wonder. But overall I'll say this is an enjoyable and different read, and I'm very much looking forward to the second book!!

Fun and Engaging

This was a fun and interesting story. I really liked the main characters (one took me awhile) and the premise. I also enjoyed the multiple POVs which allowed insight to all of the main characters' and villain's thoughts. I did have a little bit of trouble getting into this initially because there were several unrealistic occurrences/aspects which my overly analytical mind kept trying to gnaw at. Once I let it go and just took the story as a fun piece of fiction, I enjoyed it a great deal. The only other detractors for me were personal preference things such as how the RH relationship started (the pace and the communication) and also nit picky things like redeeming a character at least partially prior to heavier intimacy. I don't believe other readers will have issues with this. I will say that ending killed me and I can't wait for book 2!

Oh, mother of plot twists...

This was a great book filled with action and plenty of twists! I loved Sloane's determination throughout, especially during her more emotional moments. Each of the guys were interesting with very different backstories and motivations. I'm really looking forward to seeing how it all ends in the next book.

Side note: the authors got serious bonus points from me for accurately portraying hope much the Plan B pill sucks! A relatable pain, and it was so nice to see the guys fuss over Sloane.

Oh my goodness! The drama is all in the details! I was immediately drawn into Steal Me and only pulled further as more details came to light. There were so many intense moments that kept me on the edge of my seat. There was incredible depth to the characters that made me fall for them and hope for all to go smoothly. I get the feeling I'm going to love this series! Fantastic first collaboration between M. Sinclair & Melissa Adams. I need more!

I am absolutely in love with this book. There is action, hot panty melting scenes, hot guys, crazy ex, and a plot twist you'll never expect. The details are vivid and it reads so smooth that you are sucked in and apart of the story. How far would you go to get away from your ex? Sloane is an amazing fmc she has been through hell and is just trying to live her life and be free but when she fills in for someone at work one day that all changes. I highly recommend this book to everyone.

[Firstly, let’s be honest. This book needed some major editing done. The sentence structure was honestly embarrassing. Plus, there were times where a character was supposed to be one place (on someone’s lap) but then they’d be somewhere else (on a counter) without anything in between saying that she moved. Other times a guy would stop kissing her to move down to her neck or something, but we weren’t told he was kissing her in the first place?? I’m not psychic; the author needs to show these things.]

However....

Overall, I really enjoyed this one. I thought it was well fleshed out and written. The characters all had depth and their own development, but I feel like there could’ve been more effort put into scenes and conversations with all of them together. The book itself could’ve been a little more believable.

I love romances that involve heists and have a kidnapping trope, so that was fun too! It was definitely focused mainly on the 5 main characters with a small amount of supporting characters, which I was also totally onboard for.

I think Sloane was a great representation of someone who had been in an abusive relationship. The book showed her scars while still being sensitive to the situation.

I do think Pierce could’ve been written better because he came off a little cartoony. I honestly prefer when villains are more fleshed out.

For the romance aspect, I think this book did a great job of providing a setting and situation where a reverse harem made sense in a contemporary setting without being totally out of the blue. Plus it’s going to be a huge wake up call when they go back to their normal lives, and I really hope we get to see them deal with that.

My main concern is that I’m going to be so pissed off if the second book doesn’t start off at the exact point and place that this one left. I hate even tiny time jumps after ending on a cliffhanger. If they end up time skipping to being in interrogation rooms or something, I'm going to lose my mind. If I would’ve known this was the ending, I would’ve rather waited for the second book to come out.

I definitely enjoyed this book, so adding a note to my future self that it’s definitely worth reading this one again. ❤️
