This book gives clear and practical steps for changing your mindset and changing your thoughts, emotions, and behavior to live a better life. There are techniques for dealing with fear, anxiety, negative people, and past hurts that influence your current experiences.
I really loved the intelligent writing style that breaks down complex ideas into small manageable pieces. Each section has actionable questions you can ask yourself to identify where you need to make changes and celebrate the things you are already doing well.
Some of the tips include meditation, connecting with others, letting go of perfection, knowing your core values, remembering how resilient you truly are, and telling yourself the truth. I love that each section gives an example of a real-life scenario where you can change the way you think about your work, your family, your health, and your life.
This book encourages the reader to dig deeper into themselves and uncover the true reasons behind their negative thoughts, and to embrace a more positive and helpful mindset. Just the act of reading this book has made me more positive, and more able to handle the negative things in life when they come. It's not about shutting out everything negative, but about embracing the negative to foster growth. Learning from your mistakes and reaching forward with hope is the golden message of this book.
Whether you are ready for the next big positive step, or whether you want to take a baby step just for today, this book meets you where you are and gives you room to grow at your own pace.
Disclaimer: I received a copy of this book from the publisher in exchange for a free and honest review. All the opinions stated here are my own true thoughts and are not influenced by anyone.
The Path to Positivity is SO well-constructed, and has a balanced, well-researched approach to positivity. The reader is asked at the beginning of the book to choose a goal to work on, and over 5 lovely chapters and 125 pages, the goal is addressed. In addition to the goal, one learns about constructive positivity and how to slowly but surely change our way of thinking for the better. Neuroplasticity is real!!! I can envision going through this book again with a different goal, thinking about her exercises and journaling prompts to tackle other issues where I may be stuck.
One thing I particularly loved about this book: Caitlin Margaret's book is VERY well-researched, and she cites studies throughout the book to back up her claims. She doesn't just write what she feels like (which seems like a common problem in the self-help genre), she backs it up with science. Her writing style is approachable, even as she regularly mentions studies. There is an extensive list of resources for those who want to learn more about the research she did. She also talks about the benefits of "law of attraction" without turning it into an absolute that can be self-sabotaging. She encourages us to allow our authentic feelings while transforming them, rather than glossing over them in a rabid quest to push "happy happy happy!"
I received an advanced review copy from the publisher, and will say that the editor needs to be more diligent about typos/grammar. I caught a "you're" that should have been a "your" and a "too" that should have been a "to".
This book is full of advice on how to put past hurt and resentment aside and live a life in a more positive manner. There are also tips on how to get out of a rut if you are feeling like your life is the same old, same old every single day and also assists the reader with ways to be more motivated. This is a great guide for anyone looking to have a more positive attitude.
I need to get a physical copy so I can properly follow the exercises as listening to the audiobook in the car wasn’t the best way to follow along. However, the flow and structure of the book is well thought out and the research and examples used allows to easily understand some quite complex processes.
Practical, clear advice on cultivating and applying positive thinking to your life. I recommend getting a physical copy so you can make notes in the book as you do the exercises (or potentially purchasing a journal to use alongside it as the author suggests).
Great read. Perfect combo of effective insights and journaling/thought prompts to relate them to your own life and brainstorm how to make adjustments towards positivity. I will re-read this book!
