My wife is a teacher and always looking for ways to make some extra money over the summer when she isn't working. This book has a ton of options, especially with an entire chapter specific to teachers. This isn't one of those "Get rich quick" type books full of scams or schemes to trick people out of their hard earned money. It is super organized with links to each job mentioned. We find it invaluable to have. One recommendation is to read this on or at your computer, or make note of jobs that catch your eye as you come across them. There are soooooo many my wife is interested in that we now have to re-read and find again because she forgot the names of them. Today I also recommended this book to friends of ours who recently lost their job and want to find something they can do now while their state is in lockdown. While hopping on Amazon to buy the book as a gift to them I decided to write this quick review too because it really is worthwhile for everyone out there.
This was a good book for people who haven't a clue how to work from home in today's world. But I found that 90% of the suggestions weren't right for me, which was a bummer. I love this author though, I follow her on YouTube and enjoy watching her vlogs and Q&A sessions about full-time nomad life in an RV. She is bright, cheery, and always helpful. Her experience with RVing and previous careers have made her a huge asset to the nomad and RV-lifestyle cultures. I'm thankful I found her channel and will continue to buy her books and watch her YT channel even though I'm not currently a nomad, and doubt I ever will be.
Most of the jobs were for stationary people or professional people. The places like Amazon were for a set amount of time so you stuck in one place and not able to roam. Many of the company's were listed more than once some up to 3 times. I'm glad I used Amazon credits to buy this book and not real money.
Not a bad read really. Has lots of information but mostly on 'side gigs' rather than full-time but still, you gotta start somewhere. The author tries to keep it updated which is very nice. I will continue to use it for sure.
While I appreciate the effort put into organizing this book, the biggest flaw for me was the repetitiveness of the tasks/job listings.
Many of the job opportunities were repeated ad nauseam, even word for word to the last time they were mentioned. A better way to have handled this would have been to have all of the jobs listed in one section. It is after all in a digital format, and within this book there were several clickable links to other locations. Even if it was in a print-bound version, it still would have made more sense to reference to the exact page number where jobs were mentioned rather than repeating the jobs over and over under each sub category. This made for a much denser book than would have been needed if the jobs were all listed in one spot at one time, and then referenced in each subsection either via a link or page number (depending on the format of the book). This took me much longer to get through than necessary because of the repetitiveness of the jobs in each section. In paper form I could have skipped larger sections easier than in digital form (easier to skim and flip repeated jobs to find the 'new' ones in paper form than digital, not impossible, but really why make it necessary when it could have been avoided in the first place).
Other than that, there's a lot of good data in the book and a lot of well done research.
I found out about this book by stumbling onto Robin Barrett’s YouTube channel. I saw a video in which she listed some interesting work from home options and decided the book was worth a try. It most definitely was.
Despite doing my homework in looking for a new income stream there were still resources listed here that I didn’t already know about - and the explanations of the application processes and the payment methods saved me a lot of time in narrowing down the list to things I will actually pursue.
There is a lot of repetition in the book - as there are sites which fall under more than one of the categories into which the book is organized. I read the entire book, but I would recommend that if other readers know which category they are most interested in, they just skip straight to that chapter to avoid the cross posting (for lack of a better phrase).
At any rate I highly recommend this book to anyone looking for legitimate work from home / online / digital nomad income opportunities. I have already done a few of these, so I know they are real options. And I’m looking forward to trying others asap.
This is a great book to get the motivation going to become an online worker, regardless if you are a nomad or stationary person, or both. I have a strong desire to move to working exclusively from home and through this book I found a site that has been very promising and has already begun producing revenue. You will not get rich following the tips in this book, but you will make some money. The layout of this eBook is very logical and the knowledge and information within the pages is very informative and helpful for those, such as myself, seeking to find online gig-type work. One cautionary piece of advice is to read over each website carefully as some information may be a little outdated (one site listed as free is now a paid site) but almost all of it is still current and relevant. Would I recommend this book? Absolutely!!!
This book is comprehensive. It starts off with tax forms like 1099's, self employment taxes, and things to be aware of before you jump in.
Great number of websites listed with jobs from babysitting, dog walking, writing assignments, pilot care, camp ground manager, migrant/ seasonal work, handy person, delivery (besides some cash and uber eats), and a lot more.
The listed resources makes this book a good reference source.
This book is the ultimate reference for anyone who needs to work from home--- bricks and sticks or a home with wheels. I've already applied for jobs that match my skills. Let my freelance career begin!
This book provides a lot of sites to visit and sign up for side hustles. There are a few links that do not work which is why it did not make 5 stars. Overall an excellent resource!
I've already made my first 50 dollars. Just follow the instructions, be yourself, and dedicate a little time and you'll be making money in as little as a day - depending on what you're doing. :)
She has a lot of good ideas about jobs. I didn't find one that I could do but then I have learning disabilities. I'm sure the average person would find one.
Great book if you're looking at remote work or working while traveling (like in a van!!). The author keeps the information current, she also has a YouTube channel.
