Maturity doesn't come from having experiences alone but from reflecting on those experiences. The Untangle Workbook is a guided journaling process designed to help you experience and understand your emotions so that you can hear the wisdom they carry and make constructive life decisions as a result. This process will help you know yourself better and understand why you react the way you do. The lessons you learn as you carefully consider why you're feeling what you're feeling will give you access to greater wisdom. The Untangle Workbook teaches and guides you using the "Five A Process" which mirrors the natural sequence of our brain and body's experience of emotions. This process was introduced in Marc Alan Schelske's book, The Wisdom of Your Discovering the God-given Purpose and Power of Your Emotions. This Workbook is a supplement to that book, but the workbook can be easily used without having read The Wisdom Of Your Heart.
Marc Alan Schelske writes about life at the intersection of grace and growth. He hosts The Apprenticeship Way podcast and writes about nurturing a healthy inner life. He serves as the pastor of Bridge City Community Church and lives in Portland, Oregon. You can find him and more writing at www.MarcAlanSchelske.com.
Having read Marc Schelske's book "The Wisdom of Your Heart: Discovering the God-Given Purpose and Power of Your Emotions," he concludes by introducing a 5A Process for learning to pay attention to our emotions: Attend, Articulate, Ask, Assay, and Apply.
It left me thinking, "Marc, tell me more how this works."
In his "Untangle Workbook", Marc expands and illustrates this 5A Process. Well done. I needed that. He then provides a workbook for processing our deeper emotions.
This is actually not a book for reading and finishing; it is a workbook with guided prompts to help you process difficult memories/feelings/situations. Some folks might find this useful in conjunction with therapy; I attempted this alone and became overwhelmed, mainly because of the emotions that arose while trying to sort out specific problems.
