I've spent the first seventeen years of my life with my head in the clouds--literally. I attend a secret academy high above the mortal realm where the children of demons and humans are brought to be raised and taught instead of slaughtered. It's the one place we're protected and our talents nurtured, until the night someone close to me is murdered and a precious book is stolen--one with information that could mean the end of us all.
Not content with the investigation, my friends and I sneak out of the academy to hunt for the killer, where we cross paths with Rafe, a guy that burns hotter than the sun. Unfortunately for me, he's a Watcher--an angel-human hybrid tasked with protecting the mortal realm from demons. When it turns out we may be able to help each other in our quests, I'm only too happy for an excuse to spend time with him beyond the watchful eyes of the Elders. It's my first time on my own and I'm discovering the world is a scary place, especially when there are creatures hellbent on killing me. Good thing I have a sword--and a few latent powers I didn't know about.
Now I need to find the killer and return the book to the academy where it belongs, or risk losing everyone and everything I care about.

On my last trip outside of the academy, I found my caretaker's killer, but my trials and tribulations are far from over. The Book of Admissions is still missing and at risk of falling into the wrong hands. Even worse, a young demonspawn has been murdered, which reunites me with the Watchers, including the one that turned my heart inside out.
Our search for the book may just lead us to the child's killer--and a shocking truth that's been eluding me for seventeen years.
Unfortunately, this isn't a truth that will set me free.
In fact, it might just kill me.

Problems are like hydra heads these days--the moment I solve one, three more seem to spring up in its place. All I want to do is make it to graduation and spend unfettered time with my hot nephilim boyfriend, but life has other plans. When a town in the mortal realm is laid to waste, it's a race against the clock to figure out who's responsible and why. With every step I take, more secrets are revealed and I discover I'm a pawn in a game I didn't even know I was playing. If I hope to survive, I'll need the support of my friends now more than ever.
As murky as my present is, my future is clear--I'm either going to grow up and graduate from the academy, or die trying.

great book
this book has great storyline with characters that are pretty much relatble no matter your walk of life and even better plot line. bottom line this authore is one hell of a righter and tou would remiss not to read these books.

I loved this series ! The storyline and the characters were great. I think you should read these books if you like a good story without all the sex.

Loved this trilogy!
Annabel Chase is one of my Favorite authors! I would love to see this world expand. It was a great read all the way through!

I love the way the fantasy world is painted so vividly. The characters draw you in and you are fighting right along side them sharing in the heartache, betrayals and eventually the triumphs.

August 19, 2022Sadly didn't get into this. I kept thinking the girl was about 12 while I was reading it until she went to the city. Guess she just seemed too young.
