In reading order -

Charcoal Notes - ⭐⭐⭐⭐

I enjoyed reading Charcoal Notes. In fact, there were times when I found it difficult to put my kindle down. This is the first book in the Red & Black series and I have loved getting to know the characters who I am certain will make appearances throughout. Charcoal Notes is Seb and Tara’s story.

I absolutely love both Seb and Tara. I enjoyed the friends to lovers side of this story. They have both loved each other for so long without realising that their feelings were reciprocated. I knew I was invested in the couple because some of Tara’s decisions and actions had my stomach in knots due to being concerned about how those particular scenes would unfold. I didn’t want anything to stand in the way of this couple being together.

I do have a few questions that I hope will be answered in the next book – some important parts of the story that haven’t yet come to a conclusion. I was a bit surprised at how some of the storyline progressed, bearing in mind the strong beliefs of the character in question, but this is their story so who am I to question this. With regards to the pace of the story, I do wish that the ending hadn’t felt so rushed.

It has been fabulous getting to know the Red & Black record label famiy and they truly are one big family who look out for each other. I realised after reading the author’s notes at the end of this book that Erin and Alex’s story is told in the This Love series and I will definitely be reading it one day soon as I am desperate to learn more about them both - Erin in particular.

I award Charcoal notes 4 stars. I am looking forward to reading the rest of the series.


This Love - ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

After reading the Red & Black series – which is a must-read if you haven’t already – I knew I had to learn more about Erin’s story. I now wish that I had read Grace Harper’s This Love series before Red & Black. I didn’t consider a timeline of events when I first picked up Charcoal Notes (book one in the R&B series) so my first recommendation to you is to start this incredible journey with the This Love series.

I have thoroughly enjoyed reading This Love. Not only do we discover more about Erin, who I absolutely adore, but we witness the start of Alex and Erin’s incredible love story. This couple are meant for each other. They have chemistry that is off the charts! I love how tenacious Alex is. He knows he wants Erin and isn’t going to give up until he gets his girl - although this will not be easy for him since Erin has her heart locked away. I adore all their interactions… every single one of them. Please be warned that some scenes may leave the reader needing a cold shower after reading them 🔥🔥

I love that the twists and turns kept me guessing which path this story could potentially follow. I had my suspicions regarding certain events and loved being proven wrong. This book ends on a cliffhanger but thankfully the series is complete so there is no need to wait to discover what happens next.

This may be Erin and Alex’s love story but Tara, Seb, Tom, Casey and many other characters I know and love from the Red & Black series also feature in this book which I am delighted about. I know that you will love meeting them too!

I highly recommend This Love to you to read. I’m going to end my review now because I don’t wish to hint at any spoilers. Due to the way the author has written this series, I do wonder if Five Chances (which is the prequel to This Love but labelled as book 4 in the series) should be read first? I believe it takes us back to the traumatic events that changed Erin’s life in more detail. It may give the reader greater knowledge and understanding as to why Catherine became Erin. Once I have read it myself, I shall let you know.

Charming Olivia - ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

Where can I find my very own Jack Geary? Oh my, he’s the full package. Hot, successful, respectful and caring - and let’s not forget how virile he is too!! I may have needed a cold shower numerous times throughout this narrative – it’s rather steamy 😉

I love Jack and Olivia together – their interactions are fabulous to witness. Olivia’s declaration was not what I was expecting at all - any unpredictable twists and turns will always get a huge tick from me. This story brought out many different emotions in me which I loved. I thoroughly enjoyed the storyline and how Jack and Olivia’s journey unfolded. I completely understood the reasons behind their actions and the difficulties their past and present lives have created for them.

I highly recommend Charming Olivia to you to read. I’m hoping Jack’s brother Elijah will have the same effect on me as Jack did. I'm heading straight into his story next - Loving Lilly.
