"He saw me as his hero, but I'm nobody's hero."
At least that's what I tell myself. My name is Eric Cayden, and I'm a man with some pretty extraordinary abilities. It's because I have these superhuman powers, my best friend, Jordan, sees me as hero material. I'm not the only one in the world with special abilities, of course. Some people have already stepped up to the plate and made themselves martyrs, but I'm not about self-sacrificing for the greater good and all that crap. Not anymore. I've already bled for my country. Now, I just want to live a normal life in the shadows and make a lot of money doing odd jobs on the side. Is that too much to ask? Well, according to my friend, Jordan, I'm destined to be something better than a glorified errand boy. He thinks I have a higher calling. He thinks I can be a hero. Well, I'm not too sure about the hero part, but I do hate it when bad people get away with doing evil things. So maybe, just maybe Jordan has a point. We'll see, won't we?

Three months have passed since I've become Cobra, a vigilante. I must admit, I feel like I have a real purpose now and I do enjoy kicking a lot of--well, you get the point. Things were going pretty good until my partner, Jordan, cracked through the firewall of an illegal website on the dark web. I'd been witnessed to a lot of horrors on the battlefield, but seeing this particular round of humanity's sadistic cruelty to humanity actually made me lose my lunch. That's not an easy feat. I know one thing, I'm going to take down the monsters who run this site and all of their sick customers. That's my new life goal.

Warning: This is a novella serial series that will be coming at you fully loaded with hot, gay sex. Yes, there will be all kinds of bodily fluids splashing and squirting in all directions with each episode. Expect body parts to be sliced, diced, gouged, and even ripped apart because I don't half step. This is a series intended for adults only, who want a superhero that loves to play dirty... and by dirty, I mean grimy as hell.

About The Maniac Who Wrote These Books:

I'm the author of deliciously dark, sexy, and thrilling MM fiction in various genres. I corrupt readers with salacious tales of possessive men staking their claims on the men who make their blood rise in certain places. I know... I should be ashamed, but I'm shameless. I'm a public menace that can't be stopped, and my characters are rude, sassy, charming, arrogant, and hotter than sinners in hell. They tell me what they want and I follow orders. When I'm not hunched over my keyboard typing away, I love to watch movies and TV shows (You should check out my reviews.)

Okay, this book needs trigger warnings. It is NOT a romance, and I am not saying it is sold as such. I am used to Nicholas Bella's writing and his characters are never good or bad but a lot of shades of evil and outride satanic.
I got this ARC under the title "Justified" but it contains the same serials as this.

There was a moment in this book when I wanted to DNF, but I pushed on. After I finished reading I thought back to why this particular scene had thrown me for a loop, considering that in other works of this author humans of all ages and sexes get killed. Even though I classified the book as paranormal it could as well be contemporary as some of the book gives this real world vibe. I feel the need to justify why I liked this book with such an atrocious crime in it. I guess because the main character, Eric (has the chance to do) does what I would love to do, especially after watching the news.

Eric has super powers, at least a few. One is that his skin is impenetrable, so he can't get killed (at least not by conventional means). And he can shape shift, an awesome skill to have, even if it hurts like hell. How he comes by those abilities is a side story and I am not sure if that will be important for later books. He is not a very likeable character but I guess for what he is about to become he needs to be an a**hole.

The beginning was a bit slow, but once Eric turns into Cobra and takes on the dark web with his side kick Jordan, the energy changes. I loved Jordan, his snark, his skills and his unapologetic way of dealing with Eric.

The sex is hot, the villains are evil incarnate and deserve their ending, and the vigilante superhero with the P (= P-plater) on his back is getting the hang of being the man who doles out vengeance.

I started thinking it's just unapologetically Nicholas Bella's stamp to start a book at such high voltage to jolt a reader out of their comfort zone and send them flying. The author didn't disappoint yet again delivering a dark, gritty and gory plot sprinkled with a ton of naughtiness, snarky banter and heart stopping moments because even vigilantes can screw up from time to time and scramble to find out an emergency solution. And when a vigilante is still learning and have no clue how to be a hero there is a lot of black humour following the trail of murders.

Eric Cayden is ex military and enhanced human with special abilities. Together with his incredibly smart and sweet sidekick Jordan they plunge deep into the darkness trying to get rid of the people participating in a terrifying network of crimes, created on the dark web and called The Killing game. Trying to untangle all the connections is the beginning of a deadly race of survival and outrunning the criminals in their own game for the baby vigilante Cobra aka Eric Cayden.

Couldn't put it down...

Wow!! That's the first thing I thought of when I finished this. Yes, we are warned of graphic violence but I forgot who I was reading there for a sec...lol!!! Overall, I greatly enjoyed getting to know Eric aka Cobra and Jordan. I appreciate their candor about the openness of their relationship...I just kinda like the two of them together. BUT I have feeling that the S*xy Silver Fox will be coming back into play in more than one way. Definitely loving the vigilante kick and I can't wait to see Cobra kick some more @$$!!!!

This review is for the whole series as I binge read them all.

What a roller coaster that ride was. I’m very much reminded of his other series with all the goings on and stuff. IYKYK. Excited to see if the spin-off comes to KU.

I recommend if you like these tropes.

I received a free copy of this book from the author and am voluntarily leaving a review.

Really good!

Really enjoyed the evolution of Cobra, aka Eric, and his genius hacker, Jordan. I listened to the narration by Matt Williams, who is superb! Lots of humour, heat and gore - some parts are a little gruesome, so heed the warnings. I hope the rest will be in audio - the author and narrator make a great pairing!

Such a lovable vigilante!

I read the episode version before, but I really like Cobra's brand of snark and justice. Not for the faint of heart. He gets stuff done in a real eye-for-an-eye manner. On to book 2!

ooh so hot!

If there is one thing that Nicholas does extremely well, it’s the descriptions. Eric/Cobra is so fantastic with slight flaws that make him irresistible to me. Jordan is just as adorable. Now I want to know more about the hot Silver Fox!
