A Sexy Victorian Era Historical Romance
___

Praise for previous Scandalous series:

If you haven't started this series, start right now and you will fall in love with this very unconventional family during a time when rules, etiquette and unwritten rules had to be followed or the lack of them would bring scandal and ruin to an entire family.

I love these books. Tracy creates these characters so well and with such care. I really recommend reading this series.

I am overwhelmed by how much I have enjoyed this series so far. It was not superficial fluff as I thought it might be when I began. Cooper-Posey books have touched on so many universal themes.

Her characters are admirable people who love their family and are capable of deep romantic love as well.

I just love this series and the books just keep getting better and better. This series takes us on a romp through historical times, which I love.

If you haven't read this magnificent series you must do so now; you will love each story, be moved by each of them, fall in love with the heroines and heroes, you will cheer for them and just as loudly boo the villains.

Love this series and have bought them all.

This entire series is filled with so much love for each other and family, that there is no way you cannot be emotionally drawn into each story.

I was sad to see the end to the Scandalous Scions series. Ms. Cooper-Posey has such an intimately detailed way of writing that you can’t help but become immersed into each story and emotionally attached to the wonderful characters. Thankfully, though, those wonderful characters happened to have a LOT of children whose stories of love and adventure we can discover now, while still catching glimpses of the previous generation, albeit a little older and grayer as time has passed.
His Parisian Mistress has a heart-wrenching beginning I was not prepared for. My heart broke for poor Richard essentially becoming a pariah and forced out of England through no fault of his own.
I liked Éve from the start. No-nonsense, practical, self-assured and worldly, I found her to be inspirational.
Richard and Éve work together in a dangerous undercover operation to disband an anarchist organization. Éve makes Richard feel worthy again and he shows her that having a man by your side doesn’t have to mean giving up your independence.
I really appreciate how none of Tracy Cooper-Poseys stories are cookie-cutter-everything-works-out-in-the-end books. Square pegs don’t magically become round to fit in. Yes, they all live happily ever after, but you know there are going to be hurdles along the way, just as in real life. I think that is what makes this series so relatable for me.
Long story short: read this.

A Sexy Victorian Era Historical Romance

This is a brilliant read.
Wonderful well written plot and story line that had me engaged from the start.
Love the well fleshed out characters and found them believeable.
Great suspense and drama with wonderful world building that adds so much to the story.
Can't wait to read more of these.
Recommend reading.

I read a complimentary advance copy of the book; this is my voluntary and honest review.

A nice romance

This is a nice romance with strong characters but some of the plot points seemed a bit far-fetched for the time period. Still recommended for fans of the genre.

Sweet finale

The hero is a complex character, difficult to like, yet we trust the good that the heroine sees within. This is a quick read that builds to a satisfying ending. I especially enjoyed the anarchist's observation on a woman's penchant for changing things. Detractors are minor issues (Bert vs "Burt") plus a repeated mention of a character digging into the flesh above his knee. The chapters about the nieces seem to be a contrivance to set up a future book; it was a distraction.

Well Tracy Cooper-Posey did again with her new book “His Parisian Mistress.” Once I started reading this book I could not put it down until I was finished. This was such a wonderful spin-off story from the Scandalous Scions series. Truthfully I cannot wait for more. Tracy did such a wonderful job with the plot and let’s not forget the characters. I highly recommend this book.

I was given an advanced reader copy of this book for my honest review.

Awesome start to the third generation of The Great Family. As always, Tracy can paint a picture in your mind and it feels like your in the scene. I could hear sounds and smell the smells of early morning Paris. The tension between characters. If you're starting here, it doesn't feel like you have to go back and read all 15 or 16 books in the other series to catch up. But reading this may give you the desire to know the rest of the Family.

His Parisian Mistress is a richly layered Victorian era romance that blends emotional depth, intrigue, and sensuality against a vivid European backdrop. Tracy Cooper-Posey delivers a story that is as much about personal redemption and resilience as it is about love.

Richard Devlin’s fall from privilege is handled with nuance and empathy. Stripped of security and direction after his family’s disgrace, his journey feels raw and believable. Paris becomes not just a setting, but a turning point especially when he reconnects with Eve Martel Davies, whose intelligence and quiet strength anchor the story.

Eve is a compelling heroine: resourceful, perceptive, and far more than she initially appears. Her work with the Sûreté adds an engaging layer of intrigue, and the “mistress” ruse is handled with sophistication rather than cliché. The emotional tension between Eve and Richard builds gradually, shaped by trust, restraint, and unspoken longing.

What truly stands out is Cooper Posey’s ability to balance heat with heart. The romance unfolds amid family loyalty, social consequence, and personal growth, making the story feel immersive and emotionally satisfying. As part of the Scandalous Family The Victorians series, this novel both stands strongly on its own and deepens the wider family narrative.

A rewarding read for fans of historical romance who appreciate intelligent heroines, flawed heroes, and richly textured storytelling.

I was quite impressed. I enjoyed this story of a man and woman trying to infiltrate a group of anarchists in Paris. They married to help with their work and ended up falling in love with a background of bombs and very nasty people.

I'm not sure if I would have started this novel if I hadn't noticed that the author currently lives in my hometown, but I'm glad that I did since I quite enjoyed it. If I come across other novels in the series I will most likely try to read them too.

It was well-written and the story was a good one. Enjoyable.

New look on an old story

I loved this book. I loved that it was set in Paris, not stodgy London, that it featured working men and women, not wannabe elite and lazy "leisure lizards," and that the romance happened naturally, out of mutual respect instead of a bolt from the blue. The writing is strong and evocative which provides a detailed setting, the characters are amiable and relatable, and the pacing moves quickly with a relaxed feel. I highly recommend this to anyone looking for a fresh outlook on an old stort

I thought it was weird to have these random chapters in there about these random people who have no connection to the story. I never read the previous series, but assumed they were part of this large family introduced at the beginning of the book, assumed it was a setup for the sequel. Why would you make a new to your books reader assume these things? Very obvious pandering. Odd choice.

Otherwise, the book was better than many romances I’ve read. While still formulaic, it wasn’t bash you over the head with plot and character stereotypes. Quick and easy read that was mostly enjoyable.

Disappointing Ending

Though a bit depressing, the story of His Parisian Mistress was okay. Ms. Cooper-Posey writes with a lot of detail, and I liked both of her main characters, but the ending was a let down. It wasn't a real cliffhanger, but it came close to the definition.

Content 411: Although this book has only a couple of mild swear words, it does have one marital sex scene.

Maybe a little too much adventure!!

A highly placed family in the British aristocracy is set on a path to ruin when one of the family's investments is undermined by one of the other members of the board of directors! Sometimes you're standing too close to the disaster not to get the dirt on you.
Very well written and completely enthralling!

Undercover

I had expected this story to be just a Victorian plot about a woman and her lover. It was so much more. I won't spoil any of the details, but this is more of a spy novel with a bit of romance involved. I would definitely recommend you read the book

A very intriguing storyline…not what I expected. The plot overshadows any romance scenario.
Resembles in content to a mystery novel. I was captivated by the storyline but in the end the story abruptly fizzed out and the reader is left to speculate how the plot ends

A delightfully unpredictable and exciting story with great chemistry.

This is a really satisfying read! There's plenty of substance to the plot and an interesting storyline with intrigue, action and suspense as well as the delicious romantic relationship developed between the two main characters.

These interesting characters are well developed with chemistry galore in their interactions and contrasting personalities for great repartee.

There's enough heat and chemistry between our two main characters to satisfy my need for proof that their romance is strong and to create the hope that it is enduring.

Tracy Cooper-Posey has a succinct and yet enthralling writing style that creates such an immersive experience that I feel like I'm stepping into situations right alongside these characters that I am getting to know!

This is an exciting start to the new series about The Great Families.
I'm a big fan of the previous series, telling tales of love and adventure, about the generation who went before so I was devastated it had come to an end...until I got my hands on this eagerly awaited new series book!

I'd highly recommend reading the (two) previous series so you can enjoy the full, rich tapestry of the family unfolding and can appreciate cameos in the following novels.

The Scandalous Families series is back! A great start to another spin-off of the captivating historical series by Tracy Cooper-Posey that leaves us wanting to read the next book as soon as possible.
We begin with the family celebrating the engagement of Vaughn Devlin continuing the family traditions, but unfortunately their happiness is short lived because Vaughn is arrested and accused of fraud.
A few years later, we find his younger brother in Paris, trying to escape the notoriety that came with his brother’s conviction. Richard is a bitter man, drinking and spending his time in Parisian bohemian cafes. One night he meets a singer that is actually one of his cousins and gets himself mixed in an anarchist plot.
As usual adventures and plot twists make sure this is a very enjoyable and thrilling read. And the best part is that there are still many more books to read and the author lifts the veil on the next stories to come…
I voluntarily reviewed an Advance Reader copy of this book.

This is the first book in the “The Victorians” series, a spin-off from the Scandalous scions books. The great family are now fragmented having been touched by disgrace and notoriety which has led to the downturn of their fortunes. This story features Lord Richard Devlin who wants to escape the taint of scandal involving his brother and travels to France to start life afresh. In Paris he meets a Cafe singer named Eve and together they get embroiled within the anarchist movement by going undercover and spying for the French Government. This book has lots of intrigue, adventure and is a great introduction to the next generation of the great family and their offspring. If you like your books to have depth of character and well written plots then this is the author for you, personally I cannot wait to read further books on their forthcoming exploits.! I voluntarily reviewed an Advanced Reader Copy of this book.

The only real flaw in this book is the slightly pasted on nature of the story of Great Aunt Annelies and the North Allerton twins. Otherwise, the fall and probable revitalization of the Great Families in the Victorian age is wonderfully and quite originally done. I'm looking forward to subsequent books.
The atmosphere of this paragraph is lovely and alive with scents and sounds.
This kind of manipulation and power dynamic described in this book is not in the spirit of anarchism as a philosophy at all. Unfortunately, many people who identified as anarchists at the time embraced manipulation and power plays as a means to a rather unclear end - liberation for those deemed worthy, rather than liberation for all. As far as 'anarchists' of today are concerned, talk is something they are unbelievably good at, as long as there is no chance it will result in action!

Tracy Cooper Posey never fails to deliver an amazing story. After starting off the story with the recounting of a family misfortune, Tracy immediately delivers us to a world full of introspection and personal fulfillment that is not easy to obtain but that is filled with color, light, love and laughter. As always, I feel like I am actually part of the scenes and I can totally relate to all of the characters.
One thing is for sure, this is not your usual Victorian romance. This story has a great, and at least for me, and unexpected plot. Combine that with action, intrigue, great settings, and multidimensional characters and you have an impossible to put down adventure just waiting for you. I cannot wait for the next book in this series. Thanks Tracy!

A Fabulous Journey back to Early Days!!

When “the Great Family” of England from this fabulous series is suddenly in disgrace our main character Richard travels to France hoping to escape the notoriety, which has rubbed off onto him. In rather desperate circumstances he meets up with Eve who is on an important mission.

Given a new purpose they conspire to infiltrate a dangerous group of anarchists.

Danger, intrigue, survival and relationships intertwine to create a fascinating story. As always, the characters in these series come alive for the reader. You are transported back in time and feel each struggle and joy as the story unfolds.

What an awesome beginning! It is the story of Richard and Eve who are offspring of the Great Family. The story starts in turmoil and ends with love. Tracy Cooper Posey draws you in with complex and realistic characters and there is always a great twist. It kept me up reading late into the night and was hard to put down! This is the first book in a new series, however, it is a continuation of the Great Family and the next generation so some of the characters will seem familiar if you have read on of the previous series.

Loved this book, it's a carry over from the extended side of The Family who always had their meetings.
This was a lovely met of 2 of them getting together, whether it was meant or not, who's bothered? These 2 weren't especially when it came to doing what they did what they thought was best, that was being together & finding out what they needed to which ever way possible.
Eve the beautiful singer & Richard the so called bar attendant.
Together they would make trouble......

I am thankful, that Tracy Cooper-Posey writes more stories in the world of this unique and intriguing family! Again the characters are very likeable, because they act „human“ and make mistakes. „His Parisian Mistress“ is the first of the „Scandalous Family–The Victorians“ and again, the era is greatly portrayed.

Informants! Anarchists!

The title threw me but I really enjoyed this historical romance. The heroine has been a police informant for years when she married the hero for the noble cause of infiltrating a violent organization.
