My least successful read in a line I did with the intention of broadening my horizons in my late teens. Ironically, almost anything would have... But I was lucky in finding a few that I felt was really good and that has given me nice re-reads or new ones by authors I discovered in the process. This one was not one of those - I felt that the title was appropriate, since the book isn't going anywhere, but each chapter feels like the first. None of them catching my interest unfortunately.

The disintegration of language and human relations: you speak, but no one hears; the words you use does not mean what you had intended. The difficulty of communication when language is falling a part, while authorities attempts to superimpose meanings and values on top of your crumbling existence. You can not trust the people around you, nor yourself, nor your memories. Everything is transient, always changing: the loneliness and alienation of the 20th century.
