Doctor's Orders

Doctor's Orders: Dr. Sawyer

Rate this book

St. Michael’s Hospital. Home of the sexiest doctors known to man.

It was the place where perfection came in the form of Dr. Devon Sawyer.

His sexy charm, the body of a Greek god, and the masterpiece of a man he was.
Definitely perfection.

We met in our intern year.
He tossed a coin and it landed on heads, and I played a game of truth or dare.
We were a match made in heaven.
Or, so I thought until he left me.

It finished me off when I got an invitation to his wedding a year later.
It took all the strength in me to accept the invite.
After all, we were friends first before we became lovers.

It took even more strength, however, not to fade away when he came back three months before the wedding and told me it was off.
Then he asked me to come back to him.

It’s come full circle, back to the point where we parted.
The problem was me…
I couldn’t tell him I loved him because I was worried he’d hurt me.
Falling for him once felt like a mistake.
What will falling for him twice do to me now I know what it’s like for him to break me?

My God, what about these authors with these ridiculous stories ????
:::::::WARNING SPOILERS ::::::::::

Okay, so H (the "ZERO" meets the h (ZEROIN) and it's love at first sight. They date almost one year but he gets a proposal to work abroad and what does he decide ??? Wait until last week to ask her how she feels about him (because he's sure he loves her soooooooo much but wants to hear her say) But our Zeroin has abandonment issues with her mother and he knew it) So she doesn't say it back. So what he does??? He breaks up with her and walks away. JUST LIKE THAT. YEP GREEEEEEEAT LOVE THAT !!! And the worst ??? While she gets emotionally frozen, in less than ONE year he meets OW and falls in love with her! Oops! Where is that great great love for aaaaaall life ?? It is clear that when he and OW date for two years and he asks her to marry him that this love he felt for h ?? It wasn't that big. And make no mistake, he says over and over that he loved the OW. Yes, and of course he has the "consideration" of issuing a wedding invitation to a broken-hearted Zeroin. But wait! Things don't work out between him and OW because he catches her cheating on with his brother! What about now?? Of course, NOW the jerk wants h back because he NEVER STOP LOVING HER! (can you feel my sarcasm here?? Because yes IT IS HERE!) And guess what? The doormat just takes him back! Do you think he had to grovel a lot ?? NOOOOOOOOOP! Now do you think he would have sought her out if the engagement hadn't ended ??? The author even TRIES convince us that he would, or rather not even try so hard because when he is asked about it the answer was "now we will never know". So folks the only question that remained after finishing this book was: How long will these writers continue with this kind of garbage ??

PS: I even thought of putting some quotes here for you to see for yourself but this isn't the first ridiculous book I read today so if you want to waste your time checking go ahead.

This book was a dramatic worst nightmare of a read. Devon and Kelly meet while interning at the hospital, they happily date for around a year. Devon is offered a job over seas and he takes it without telling or talking to Kelly about it. One week, before he is set to leave, he tells Kelly. Things are left unsaid and Devon moves on. He meets another woman and proposes to her after two years. Kelly is invited to the wedding. This invitation breaks her heart all over again. The wedding is cancelled and guess who shows up on Kelly's door step? Yep, its Devon. Can these two figure out how to communicate with each other? Can Devon convince Kelly to trust him with her heart again? This story contains a whirlwind of crazy events that although boarder on unrealistic to some, this story line is not as far fetched as one would think. Enjoy!

So this claims to be a standalone and maybe it is.....but I felt like I was dropped right into the middle of a story and was confused for awhile. Major events happened off page and BEFORE the book started so that was fun trying to figure out what exactly went down.

There is also somthing about the writing that doesn't work for me...

Kelly has a history with Dr. Devon Sawyer from their early days as Interns when they fell in love. But Devon left and shattered her heart. When she thought she was finally getting over it, she received an invitation to his wedding! Remembering they were friends first, and the reality of his marriage will truly get her over this, she decides she will attend. But three months before the wedding date, he told her the wedding would not be taking place.

Devon returned to town and wants to get back with Kelly. He has told her he wants her back. But can she trust him now? Can she allow herself to give him another chance to break her heart again?

There were some things that bothered me about this love story. Devon had plans to leave the country and never said a word to Kelly. But when she didn’t tell him in words that she loved him, he broke up with her. He met someone else and became engaged, though he still supposedly loved Kelly, and I thought it was cruel to invite Kelly to the wedding after their break up. But when he caught his fiancée cheating with his brother, he comes back to Kelly and wants to start over. She is more forgiving than I would have been. There are reasons for their behavior, but it still didn’t sit well with me.

Who invites your ex who you left broken hearted and didn’t even both h that he got a job and has to leave. This bastard of Zero H who fell in love within two years of leaving her and has no problem or qualms about saying it again and again.
Who accepts the invite and takes him back when he asks for second chance. This doormat Zeroine h, that’s who.

IMO There are no excuses for what he did or regrets for what they could have done blah blah blah. They were not teenagers and could have worked things out if they really loved each other. I hate when novel leaves you wondering WHAT IF ?

What if the ex hadn’t cheated? Zero H would have happily married her and they might even have blissful married life without even giving second thought to the zeroine. But offer the authors have make OP evil ( mostly in second chance) to make the MCs look better.

I don’t care about their journey after getting back together. First quarter of the novel was enough to put me off.

OK read

Devon, Kelly, Melanie, and Todd made a heart wrenching double love triangle that was painfully emotional to read at times.
Devon loved Kelly, but made plans on leaving for a medical mission without telling her. He didn’t tell her he was leaving until the last moment even though it was planned months in advance. She doesn’t tell him that she loved him, so he moved on. They’d been together almost one year.
He falls in love with Melanie, they’re together for two years, he asked her to marry him, they invite Kelly to the wedding.
My heart was all broken up for Kelly who was trying to move on from her ravaged heart. Damaged and already a bit broken from her past history, she had held herself back from admitting her love to Devon when they were together, but I agreed with Devon that it really was his fault that her heart got broken.
Devon seemed like such a sensitive and caring guy, but he had his own agenda in place and in a way was also afraid of being hurt by Kelly. Seemed like he was testing her all those years ago, and she failed without even knowing what was on the line. So sad and unfair.
Devon also went through pain and heartbreak with Melanie and his brother Todd’s betrayal. I was really disappointed in Todd who was supposedly such upstanding guy. But again, if Devon hadn’t been such a bonehead by involving Melanie into his life when his heart was still yearning for Kelly, then that too would not have happened. Melanie and Todd’s true characters were revealed by their betrayal, but Devon was really the center of all that pain.
Kudos to the author in creating this highly emotional read that hits the sore points in love relationships and the pain experienced by betrayal.

Well worth reading. This is a nice romantic, easy read, dealing with two doctors' Kelly and Devon's on-and-off relationship, their emotional pain, and their knowledge that they belong together. Whether they think that moving towards a closer bond is advisable given their past painful breakup is one thing, but what their heart dictates is quite another. All the characters in the book have been developed and described well, although I found it a little exaggerated that Kelly, at the age of 29, still has an almost pathological aversion, to admitting her emotional attachment, due to childhood trauma of being abandoned by her mother. There is a lot of steam in our couple’s relationship due to their attraction to each other which comes across the pages well, yet the book is not smutty. Both characters have been described in the book as perfect physical ''specimens'' which I suppose helps one's imagination. All the supporting ‘’cast’’ contributed to the storyline with appropriate dialogue. In spite of some personal drama around family relationships, our couple finally gets their HEA, giving the reader that final feel-good-factor. A well-edited piece of work that I can recommend to romance lovers.

Devin and Kelly were together not just as friends but romantically. However he made plans to go away for a medical project and didn't say anything to her about it until the last minute. Things ended between them and Kelly was heartbroken that he had left her. Then just when she was finally moving on he sends an invitation to his wedding to her. Not wanting to lose the friendship she plans to go and hopefully get the closure she needs to completely move on. Devin fell for Melanie and moved on from Kelly and what they had. He thought his life was great until he caught his fiancé and his brother in a compromising position. This causes him to end all plans to get married. He then plans to go back to where he was with Kelly and see if he can right things between them and if maybe they can be something more again. But Kelly is wary of him hurting her again so she doesn't know what to do. Will Devon show her that she can trust him this time? Will they finally get their happy ending?

This is a great story that will draw you in from the first chapter on. The chemistry between the was blazing hot. This is a well written and very entertaining story. I would recommend this book to any book lover.

Kelly starting her fourth year of residency as a doctor meets up with her ex Devon. She is supposed to be going to his wedding which she hopes will finally enable her to get over him. However, when she sees him, he tells her the wedding is off and he wants a second chance with her. She tells him no. When she goes into work the next day she discovers that they are going to be working together. They both try to resist each other and Devon's ex fiancée tries to interfere. This makes for a hot, steamy and poignant story as they both try to come to terms with past hurts.

As interns, Devon and Kelly fell in love, but Devon broke up with her when she couldn't tell him she loved him. Kelly had a sad family history and she was hesitant, so he broke up with her and left the country on a mission. After a couple of years, Kelly is over him, but then she receives a wedding invitation in the mail, his wedding. She's back in town for his wedding and they both have their regrets for not being wiser. But what's done is done until fate steps in, or is it karma! Sawyer learns the truth about those who should love him the most and he's able to see what's right for him and Kelly.

This book is worth your time to read. It's an easy to read medical romance. Kelly and Devon have an on again off again relationship but know they have a bond and belong together. The characters, main and supporting, are well developed and the story is well written. There's definite attraction and chemistry between the main characters. Will there be a HEA? If you love romance, medical or otherwise, you'll enjoy this book.

I wish I was able to rewind so I could have a box of tissues on hand reading this story. Your heart feels like it's in the middle of tug-a-war going left, right, up and down. This story brings to life the pain that comes from withheld secrets, betrayals and love in relationships. I recommend this book and a box of tissues on hand.

Kelly and Devon has a history. He’s been away for a couple of years and she thought she was over him. Then she received an invitation to his marriage...
They meet over dinner as friends and Then he tells her that his marriage is off...
There were some twists and turns in this second chance romance. I enjoyed it very much and as an extra touch, I loved the coach and Jeff.

When Devon up and leaves Kelly never expected to see him again. He shows up a few years later and her whole world is turned upside down.
Can she keep her feelings in check or will their working together make her see she still loves him and that second chances can happen?

Nice Read!

This book is about Kelly and Devin! I felt that Kelly's personality was totally different from book 1. She seems like a totally different person. I do feel that everyone who reads this book will enjoy it! I wish the author had wrote in a beat down on Melanie for her betrayal and conniving ways! I definitely recommend this book.

Devin and Kelly

OK story and performance. Second chance at love for 2 doctors. Of course there's a crazy ex-fiancé that slept with his brother, parents that like his brother more than him, and she has cheating mom baggage.

Received as a free audio book. Thanks JP

Loved this book

This is the best book I've read from this author. I totally loved Kelly. I loved her strength, her attitude, and her belief that she is second to no one. Against All Odds I found myself liking Devon as well. Excellent book.
