This book contains a lot of information from many different cultures. The problem is that this book doesn't go deeper into these cultures and how these practices and traditions came to be. Another problem I had with the book was how disorganized it was. There is no rhyme or reason to where anything is in the book. Nordic runes and Hindu/Buddhist chakras mixed in with "mermaid bath". Personally I regret buying this book.
Pretty book. Unfocused how-to that includes a bit of everything without much depth. IMHO, supply lists encourages retail therapy and are overly costly.
I would say this book is very high level, introduction to using magic for peace, clarity, and creativity.
The book has three chapters, each dedicated to one of the topics listed above. Within each chapter the author gives spells and rituals around the body, mind, and heart. From that perspective - it's great.
Sadly, the material is a little too high-level. One example would be crystals suggested as health cures without any disclosures around how one should -not- be solely doing that.
Really, one should only use this book as inspiration and seek further reading on anything discussed elsewhere.
This was a great overview of energy work. I appreciated the accessibility of the information. Also loved the beautiful artwork and representation of many body types and cultures from across the world.
The only reason Calming Magic didn’t get a fifth star is due to a lack of citations. The author mentioned many cultural practices, all of which I would like to study more thoroughly. References benefit all, including the cultures from which we borrow.
Beautiful cover drew me in. I liked the idea of what this had to offer but the information is very disorganized and seems like a hodge podge thrown together. Would be much better if author put more thought into the order and organization of info
Had anyone figured out how to use the music scan code looking thing on pg 90 for lunar ritual I cannot figure it out lots of google and multiple scan apps :((((
I love these ideas for bringing magic into everyday life. This book helped me create my first altar, and I still refer to it when I need some magic in my life or a new ritual for peace. 💜
Such a fun read! My favorite part about these books are the pictures and art inside them. They have an overwhelming amount of information, but it is very helpful and cool when you are just learning about all these practices.
