This book is so beautiful, between the actual physical look of it to the words within. Each day brings a profound statement for me to ponder and refer back to throughout the day. I cannot wait to obtain the nighttime version - hoping there might be newer or updated versions of this book in the future because it's the best book of meditations I've found so far!

Short yet powerful daily meditations. Wonderful pictures and drawings. It's a delight to browse through this book. However, the meditations are wonderful to start your day more positively. Reading the small paragraph each morning would make a good morning ritual.

I am never been very involved in meditation. I heard that my busy life would probably benefit from it, but part of me thinks that either it would not make any difference, or it would just put me to sleep. Emily Silva’s book Sunrise Gratitude surely does not teach you how to meditate, or makes the usual list of all the benefits you can gain from meditating every day.

Instead, it takes you on this daily voyage of self-consideration. For every day in one year, Emily invites you to reflect on your life, on your feelings, on the way you react to worse times, and on the little light that always shines even in the darkest moments. I call it a voyage because five lines of text every morning are able to bring you ponder about your life and how to better it in the most marvelous ways, and your mind plays with it all day long. I have taken the habit of reading the daily passage in the morning and then I just focus on its message for 5 minutes, while sipping my coffee. It gives me a certain energy that makes me start the day with the right foot. I do not know if this can be truly defined as meditation, but if it is, I can declare that meditation, then, made my days happier.

In this peculiar time, when much in our lives has been questioned and radically and suddenly changed, this book could become a beacon in the dark, a guide to find the better moments in life even in the darker days.

I would like to thank Quarto Publishing and NetGalley for the advanced copy of this book in exchange for my honest review.

Sunrise Gratitude is absolutely beautiful - both in terms of its look and feel, and also in terms of the feelings it evokes. Starting everyday with the relevant paragraph from that day would be the perfect slow morning ritual to incorporate into your life.

In terms of the content - it feels like it's made for today's fast-moving, fast-consuming generation. The entries for each day are relatively brief, though that's not to say that they are not effective or impactful. A similar-ish book that comes to mind is Simple Abundance by Sarah Ban Breathnach. Again, there are entries for each day in Simple Abundance, but they are a lot more detailed that what we have in Sunrise Gratitude.

I have an e-version of this book currently. I am definitely going to buy a physical copy. It's an absolute stunner of a book.

Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for providing me with a copy of the book to review.

What a brilliant idea!!
This book is super simple in its premise, but I strongly believe it would make such a big difference.
I love starting my morning with something positive, and this book is a great way to start the day! I wouldn't call them 'meditations' - and I think using this word in the title is slightly misleading. I just think 'Sunrise Gratitude - 365 joyful days' would be enough.

The images/photographs are beautiful, but are a little random. Especially the front cover. The images, and the title are the only things that I slightly disliked but other than that I really enjoyed this book.

I was given this book to review, and I honestly think it would be something I would want (and love) to use every day.

Honestly, this book was truly marvelous. Originally a friend of mine and I gave a copy of it to another friend of mine who was very sweet. From the moment I saw it, I knew it was intrigued and the friend we gave it too was very happy. She passed away a few months later and that was when I decided to buy a copy. Reading this and feeling the strength it gave me reminded me so much of her. So I will always have this book in a special part of my heart.

I read an early digital copy of this book, but I think it lends itself better to a physical book. There is a short daily reading to inspire gratitude in your day, and the layout is pretty with calming colors. I liked it enough that I just pre-ordered a physical copy so I can read a bit each morning.

I received an ARC from NetGalley. The book will be released on September 8, 2020.

I love it!

This little book is so pretty & so positive. I love Emily Silva’s nighttime edition but this one speaks to me even more. There’s gorgeous gold, pastel watercolors and ocean/beach themes throughout.
A great, peaceful way to start the day!

Not Really Gratitude or Meditations

In the book's subtitle, the author states that these are meditations, but I really wouldn't call them that in the traditional sense. Rather, each day is given a brief topic on subjects ranging from the practical to standard self-help topics to the metaphysical, about you or about others or the world. Just a brief paragraph is provided for the reader to reflect on. Though the title states that this is for sunrise gratitude, I didn't really get a sense that these were gratitude reflections. The book is divided by month, though I don't see anything particularly seasonal about the entries. Each month has a beautiful ocean scene; I would have loved to have seen more of these scattered throughout the book. I have read many of these types of “daily” books in my time; I didn't feel like anything really stood out as special about this one.

I received a free copy of this book, but that did not affect my review.

I wish the snippets for each day they were longer. The beauty of more complex language is something that can bring a lot of joy into meditation. That being said, I imagine the short texts will appeal to a wider audience, because it will make it easier to use for those who do not love reading. This book can become repetitive if you read it all in one go, which I did. Still, there were many moments in which I wanted to highlight sentences because of how peaceful they were and because they resonated with me. I didn’t agree with all the blanket statement that were made, but I still like this book. Also, I loved the ocean and ocean creature references.

How do you start your day?  Do you wake up ready to pop out of bed and get going?  Do you wake up a bit grumpy or more slowly?  Do you delight in the early morning hours or just want to put the covers back over your head while you know you can't?

Whoever you are and however you are in the a.m., you might like this collection of 365 morning reflections.  The book's layout is appealing with pages that are pastel colored and there are some lovely photos as well.   Some of the thoughts and sentiments expressed may sound familiar, even as they will give you something to contemplate while you get ready to begin the day.

Many thanks to NetGalley and the publisher for this title.  All opinions are my own.

This is a cute little uplifting ‘read a bit everyday’ book. It has a thought, reflection, or a feel good text, very short text, for everyday of the year. You are meant to read it in the morning, to start your day with a positive note. I think many people could benefit from reading this, since so many are stressed, tired, and quite frankly mean at times. By reading a few sentences in the morning, and reflecting on what you read, the day just might get a better start, and you might be in a better mood, so why not try it?

A short reading for each day of the year with thoughts, meditations and activities to help a reader develop a more mindful start to their day with beautiful pictures interspersed throughout. With each day's offering needing no more than a couple of minutes, I'm sure everyone could find some time in their morning routine to take a moment to be thankful.

Sunrise Gratitude is the daily meditation guide you didn't realize you needed. Each calendar day contains an eloquent entry to focus your energy, engage your mind & help you embark on the kind of inner peace you've always wanted.

This work is best for those with a busy schedule who may not have time to devote hours a day to meditation practice. Instead, Silva will help you achieve focused awareness one day at a time until you can.

Sunrise Gratitude is filled with meditations and great daily reminders. In these uncertain days, I think it is important to be in peace, calm and thank the life we have. Plus, this book is visually beautiful. I kinda like that the text is short so it doesn't take much time to read and continue with your day.

Can try these every day and then shake it up the next year. Could even do more than one a day if want. Really nice book and not full-on meditations. Some pages have one day on it and other pages have two days. Things to think about.

I loved this book of 365 meditations or affirmations. Each one is short which was a big plus for me and the pictures in the book are beautiful. I can definitely see this book sitting on my bedside table and me reading it each morning, giving me something to ponder on and help set my intentions for the day. Sunrise Gratitude would also make a lovely gift, I can already think of numerous family members and friends who would really enjoy it.

I really loved the concept of this book, daily gratitude and affirmations, but the execution fell short of other similar books like The Daily Stoic. It's certainly a lot more accessible than The Daily Stoic and may be attractive to people who are turned off by the philosophical nature of other similar books. But I personally felt that some of the affirmations were redundant and a bit trite without a unique spin or take on them. Still, they're good daily reminders, so I would recommend this book for casual readers who are not fans of denser, daily affirmations and just want an easy pick-me-up before or after meditation without too much thinking required.

A truly beautiful book. Both the images and meditations are pleasing. This would make an excellent gift for a friend or relative. I am keen to purchase a paperback or hardback having reviewed the digital copy, so that I can leave it by my bedside to open and digest the day’s meditation each morning. I’m grateful to Netgalley and publisher for the digital copy in exchange for my review. It’s a gem, I’d highly recommend it for thoughtful souls.

This is a great way to start the day. I was religious for a long time and since I've stepped away from that, I've missed morning quiet time of thinking. This helps me focus on that without having a religious bend.
