With all its innovations, the kingdom of Tempest-founded by the demon lord Rimuru-is a veritable paradise for travelers such as Framea, the rabbitfolk chief's daughter. Framea has always had a nose for adventure, an inquisitive mind, and a knack for discovering and identifying the latest and greatest the world has to offer! Her notepad is open at all times, ready for any three-star delights she may encounter, so when Rimuru himself gives Framea a mission to catalog the area's attractions, she'll have her work cut out for her-and tons of stars to hand out!
Set in a setting farther then I have read in the original series or possibly just an alternative world this story follows the rabbitfolk Framea (you can look up who named her online if you don't know like I didn't) as she uses her Unique Skill Dilettante to experience a world where Rimuru (now a demon lord) has strived to continue to not only create more modern works of engineering but also a bond of friendship between monsters and other races. Now I know some people get a little salty about fanservice so I should mention although no nipples nor are any private areas are shown close enough for details the book does start off with Framea getting out a working shower and we get a view of her bunny booty. After al what better way to tall a rabbitfolk then by her fluffy tail...or perhaps her ears. :)
All in all I really enjoyed Framea's story as she lets her curiosity lead her from one new experience to the next but at times it seems a little...well it seems like the story (or the lack of it) is just about cool stuff Rimuru is responsible for and how Framea keeps giving everything she experiences a 3 star review which in her world is the very best. In fact the only time she did not give a 3 star review on any of the things she experienced is when she received her hat when she broke the mold and gave it a five star review which threw me off because before this point I thought 3 was the best (and from what I understand it really was.) It seems the sudden elevated star review is either a fluke by the book creator or Framea has lucid moments of ratings overload like a super move when the EX bar is filled in a Street Fighter game.
The big problem with the beginning of some series is it might take more then a volume to really get into the big theme of what is going on and I am hopeful this series is not just a showcase where Rimuru gets a yes girl to rate all of his achievements as super amazing. After all Framea has already shown herself capable of bravery and she has a likable personality so I a am sure she will continue to grow as the series goes on and maybe next time I will rate the next book even higher than three stars. I also want to believe I'll just have to read the main series to find out if that is true though. :)
Just started reading the light novel because I’m getting impatient waiting for new episode releases. Also because I thought it might be fun to read and I was right!
I absolutely love this anime the first time I saw it and I can’t count the number of times that I rewatched it. As I observed, some of the events are exaggerated in the anime and doesn’t exactly follow some of the details mentioned in the book (this version is definitely more informative though), but I know they do this on almost every anime adaption, if not all. The anime does lean more on the comedic approach though that’s why I love it so much! Doesn’t mean I love this novel any less, however.
The cute little Gobta side story also was something I didn’t expect. It was very fun to get to know him a little bit more and I’ve always been fond of his character but I felt like I’m starting to love him more after this.
Overall, great story and I would definitely read the next volumes as well!
I don't have high hopes for spin-off series for this reason alone. They feel a lot like "side-quests" or distractions from the main series, than actual add-ons. It was lovely to see the characters of TTIGRS again, but that was about it.
It seems like Framea went around to tour much of what we as readers already had seen/known about about Tempest! Ofc, it gives more food for thought about what characters do when they're not on their panels/behind the scenes.
I think it will be interesting to see how this develops forward as Framea enters the dungeon with the hero party. I wonder if this will cross over into the main series, but unlikely.
The premise is just not that interesting to me. Im gonna keep pushing because I unfortunately bought the omnibus so, we’ll see if it picks up. I had someone recommend I watch the show since I loved Demon Slayer and man…I truly think that plays a huge part in my experience of this manga (as well as the anime). But anyway, I thought I would try the manga instead because sometimes one or the other is better to experience first.
I laughed out loud a few times and any manga or book will get a star just for that.
It's not the worst thing I've ever read, I was intrigued enough to complete it so—2 stars.
Cute little side story! Loved seeing another species in action along with the outside perspective of Tempest along with some familiar faces.
I hope the next volume dives deeper into the new characters rather than simply reviewing all the advancements Rimuru has created in his city. Also, three stars is a very small scale for rating anything...
I expected this book to be similar to SAO so I went in with low expectations, typical fighting manga with boobs.. but this manga was so much better! It was really interesting and I like seeing a little slime develop slowly.
This series is a spin-off sequel to That Time I Got Reincarnated as a Slime. It does take place sometime after the main series so it doesn't impact the plot, but it may contain spoilers and/or newer original characters.
Framea is a Rabbitfolk (a beastman type monster) on vacation in Tempest. After a chance encounter, the leader of the nation Rimuru has asked Framea to create a travel guide so that newcomers will know where they can enjoy the best that Tempest has to offer.
The story mostly centers around Framea checking out all the details established in the original series, but from the point of view of a customer. It's cute and has a lot of fan service, but the best part is the last two chapters, which are basically a step-by-step guide to Dungeons & Dragons. Always check for traps~
Not a bad start, but I'm not entirely sure where they're going with this series, so "THREE STAR RATING!"
