NO ESCAPE: An electrifying psychological mystery that will keep you gripped from start to finish

A girl in a coma.
All she can do is think and remember.
But as the memories return, so does her terror.
Because she knows it’s not over.

When DI Harry Briscombe investigates the stabbing of a young girl, all he knows is that she’s been badly treated and has given birth in the last few weeks. Who is she? Where is her baby? And why has someone tried to kill her?

Then a murder is committed, and Harry is confronted by a wall of silence.
What lies behind the veil of secrecy that surrounds a local religious community?
And what is their link to the girl in the coma?

This is the 4th book in the gripping Harry Briscombe series, but each book is a stand-alone story that can be read out of sequence. Be warned ... once read, you'll be hooked!

I've written as a hobby for almost as long as I can remember and now that I have books published, I'm living the dream! If you'd like an introduction to my writing, do visit my website at www.carolynmahony.com where you can download a FREE copy of my Prequel Novella, Behind Closed doors, introducing my Detective in the series, Harry Briscombe.
The first full length novel, Cry From The Grave, is a story that was bubbling away inside of me forever, and follows the story of Hannah, who's baby went missing six years previously.
When I'm not writing, marketing or researching, I'm catching up on my sleep but even my dreams are infiltrated by (sometimes totally nonsensical) plots and scenes.
The second full length novel in the series is called The Jagged Line and the third one about to be published any day now, is called No Escape. Each book follows the same detective but is a standalone story in its own right and can therefore be read out of sequence.
Shadow Watcher is a slight drift away from the psychological crime thriller and is a standalone romantic suspense novel. I tried to bring it back into line with the others but it just wasn't co-operating, and in the end I decided to go along for the ride and enjoy it. I hope you do too! Who says crime and romance don't mix?

What a find!

What can I say? This is such a powerful and insightful book. Its astounding just how easily one could be brainwashed, especially when they're young and vulnerable. It reminded me of when I was younger and fell in with what I now realise is a cult. Being made to believe that my value came from them. No one should ever have that much power over another human being. This quote in the book resonated so much with me - "People will put up with the most terrible abuse because they’ve been programmed into thinking they’re not deserving of any better". That was exactly how I was made to feel. But then I met someone who let me know better, that I have value, and gave me the courage and conviction to walk away from all that toxicity and never look back. Well done to this author. Five stars xxxxx

A good very good mystery with relatable characters!!
I was given this book as part of the Advanced Readers Team for an honest review. It was an easy review because I throughly enjoyed reading this book This is my first experience in reading a book by Carolyn Mahony, but definitely won‘t be the last The characters are well developed and relatable. This book shows how good intentions can go wrong due to greed and self serving. Poor Dean never had the love or parental bonding that Juliet had, but think he will eventually be okay. This story proves how a family’s love can make all the difference in a child’s life.

Having read the others in the series and thought how good they were, I was expecting the same standards from this one and my word did I get them.  Absolutely loved it, Harry, dear Harry, you've just got to love him.  The story has parts in it that are pure genius in the way it's been thought out and written.  Really like most of the characters, but some.......
The story goes along at a good pace, a page tuner and a jolly excellent read.
Would definitely recommend this series and the author.

A definite who did it.

I started the book this morning and finished it tonight. I just couldn't put it down. I was drawn in from the first page and couldn't wait to see what came next. Every time I thought I figured who did it someone else popped up. This was a great book . Can't wait to read others in the series.

Engrossing British Mystery

Carolyn Mahony is a skillful author, with a wonderful way of drawing in the reader. Harry Briscombe will be remembered with other British detectives. He is the type of policeman that seems to have disappeared from American fiction, and finding him was a welcome surprise.

Brilliant read

I’ve loved reading the Harry Briscombe series and can’t wait to start the next one.
I find this author’s way of writing very easy to follow and as an older reader I seem to be able to remember the characters unlike some books I read.
Can’t wait to find out if Harry’s relationship with Claire continues to flourish.
Thank you Carolyn.

A real thriller.

A young woman was stabbed, hit her head as she fell, and went into a coma, I liked the way that her thoughts, while in the coma, was used to fill in the details of why she was stabbed. A good read.

Never would have guessed

This book grabs your attention at the very beginning. The main characters, ADI Harry and Beth are fully developed and interesting. The whole story is one exciting and unexpected jump after another. I love it!

A young woman is stabbed and is now in a coma, Di Harry Biscombe is on the case but things aren't as easy as it looks as the woman had just recently given birth but no sign of the baby.
The plot just gets deeper and deeper with lots of twists.

Captivating mystery book.

While this is the 4th in a series featuring Harry Briscombe, you can read it without having read the others.

A young female is running for her life, but she is found, and stabbed, resulting in a coma but she has recently given birth. So where is the baby. D.I. Harry Briscombe and his team try to unravel the mystery.
Part of the story is told from the pov of Juliet as she lies in the coma.
An entertaining well-written mystery
