Those were the words that summed up my life. I never knew my parents, let alone that I was some menace to society... a half-breed.
Not only am I trying to navigate my newly found identity, but now I'm torn between a handsome guard and dangerously sexy inmate.
I'd rather die than conform to what all the others want, and that's exactly what I'm afraid may happen.
If you can't get enough of books by K.F. Breene, Kelly St. Claire, Annette Marie, Shannon Mayer, Leia Stone, Jaymin Eve, and Laura Thalassa, then you'll be sucked into this paranormal romance.
Reading has always been one of my favorite hobbies, even as a little girl. When I was a toddler, my parents would read stories to me over and over. I would hear them so often that I had the books memorized and could recite the story word by word.
My favorite genres are fantasy, paranormal, and contemporary romance. So of course that's what I'm inclined to write.
I have a husband, two young daughters, and a mini Australian Shepherd. I've lived in Tennessee the majority of my life and love the state.

Surprised that Lexy was abandoned by her parents. Didn't make sense but ok. It was like repetitive eat work sleep with a side of middle school bullying
Over all the premise was interesting, but some of the writing was irritating to me. For instance, any time any one suggested they do something (especially eat) it was always, ALWAYS followed by “you don’t have to tell me twice” as though there is no other possible phrase that suggests the thing. And Lexy can be super thick. She’s essentially given all the info she needs, yet still acts like she doesn’t understand what’s going on. Like she’s willfully ignorant about her relationships. And there’s a love triangle... which is really just a me thing. I don’t love those. Although, she actually gives a decent premise for the triangle, it’s not just that the girl is an indecisive pain, it’s not really her fault. So, I kinda liked it, but was also kind of irritated by it. I’m not sure if I want to read the next one or not. However... I really love the covers, they’re fabulous.
This book takes place 20 years after Bloodshed Academy and it follows Lexy who has been raised human her whole life. She has been feeling odd and mentions it to her parents. Some secrets come out, she is kidnapped and taken to a prison. Lexy wind up with some allies and enemies all because she has a smart mouth like he dad! The crew from Bloodshed Academy make an appearance. Absolutely loved this book and can't wait to read the next book!
This book is amazing at the start we meet Lexy walking home feeling hot and not well. When she sees two guys at the end of her street who follow her until a neighbour helps. From here we see her find out shes adopted and things escalate from their. When the next day the two guys break into her house they take her to a prison for half breeds. Where she makes friends and meets Knox who starts to follow her around. As the book progresses we see many twists and turns with which Lexy has to find a way to escape or know shes going to more than likely be killed. Cant wait to read the next book after that ending totally epic
Before I begin my review for Hunted by Jen L. Grey I would personally like to thank the author, the publishers and Booksprout for the opportunity to read this ARC and I have reviewed it honestly.
Disturbing, dark and daring, join Lexy and her friends as they navigate a cruel supernatural prison in Jen L. Grey’s brand new duology, The Half-Breed Prison. Enjoy a combination of the likes of Orange is the New Black and True Blood, with a smart mouthed protagonist, not one, but two enemy to lovers love interests and sadistic human experimentations. Hunted takes place 20 years after the events of Greys’ Bloodshed Academy series and contains potential spoilers if you have not yet read them.
Hunted features, but is not limited to, the following themes: ○ Supernatural beings ○ Love triangle ○ Enemies to lovers ○ Supernatural prison ○ Half breeds ○ Mates ○ Human experimentation ○ Snarky female protagonist ○ Hunky alpha male
My overall rating for Hunted is…
4 Stars!
This book was disturbingly delicious! Enemies to lovers and a love triangle? I’ve died and gone to heaven! Hunted was extremely well written by a master YA/NA fantasy indie author. Grey has a way with words that keeps you guessing and wanting more. I look forward to reading the conclusion to this duology.
Lexy is a just a girl who thought she was perfectly normal, until one day she found out that her life was was anything but that. She ends up being captured and sent away to the one place that half-breeds never want to go, and are never seen again. While there she meets a couple of great friends who are hilarious, strong and willing to fight to get out. Plus a couple of guys who make her feel things like she never has before. Which will she choose? The one just like her? Or the one whose family can destroy everything. I can't wait to see what happens next.
The writing does flow better than the origin series yet still needs work. The conversations are still feeling a bit juvenile, disjointed, and feeling the need to explain obvious sarcasm means the conversations need more work. I think with more time writing, and a great editor, this author will figure out the flow.
Hunted by Jen L. Grey is the first book in her spin-off Half-Breed Prison duology. If you read this author’s Bloodshed Academy series then I’m sure that you were left with some…or A LOT of questions. Good news! This book takes readers back and deeper! New characters, reunion with familiar characters, and some serious drama! You’re going to want to pick this book up! Trust me! Hunted is a great addition to Jen L. Grey’s dynamic selection of YA novels. She introduces readers to a new character by the name of Lexy. Lexy is going through some changes, but she doesn’t exactly understand what is going on. But her whole life is about to be changed forever. The author does a fantastic job setting the stage with this book. She puts in enough clues to point readers in the right direction of what is going to be going down, but doesn’t make it so plain that you think “okay, too straight-forward.” Lexy is an interesting character. I love that we get her and her parents. When the pieces began to fall together I almost squealed with excitement as the picture developed. She’s definitely her parents’ daughter. She’s got a mouth on her, but I’m honestly surprised that I don’t really get annoyed with her until almost the end of the story when she tries to play the reckless hero. She finds herself in a bad situation after a bad situation, but she only backs down when it’s truly necessary to avoid serious drama. One twist in this book that I will tip-off is this…the romance angle! Boy did my jaw drop. LOL! I initially didn’t see it coming, but then…I honestly started to get my hopes up. Let me just say…the author does NOT disappoint! Things should be REALLY interesting in the next book, and I honestly can’t wait. I’m trying to think if there is anything that I don’t like about this book and honestly…there isn’t! Okay, near the end there is that one scene where she tries to suddenly play hero when…that really wasn’t the plan. I viewed it as her wanting to take a stupid risk without knowing that the end payout will be in their favor. Especially since she’s the one that the bad guys want. At the end of the day…this book was one of those hard to put down novels that you just keep page-turning and saying, “just one more page.” I can’t wait for the next book in this series and so I am rating it 5 out of 5 stars. If you read the Bloodshed Academy series and were left with questions and want answers as to what happened to all the half-breeds who were kidnapped and/or disappeared then this book is a must-read!
⚖️⚖️ONE THRILLING DELIGHT⚖️⚖️ Hatching hellions! Jen flat brought it with this action packed, hard hitting, take no prisoners and no turning back attitude, hooking you from the start and reeling you in for the duration, wrapping this baby up sleek, shiny and tight. A raging tempest of surprising mishaps and distressing circumstances, mark the staggering trials and arduous tribulations, clocking the deadly twist and wicked turns, launching those spinning emotions into play front and center, blasting this baby to life spectacularly. Balancing the scale and bearing the load, baring the staggering ups and agonizing downs, drawing our characters closer than they could have ever anticipated. Restrictions are amplified and exploited, laying out all the ruthless facts, deals and debacles, riding the currents and breaching waves, booting this baby into a tailspin with a mind-blowing culmination. Tiptoeing through minefields of perilous drama, baring revelations, chilling danger and spiraling suspense, negotiating through the dark deceptive manipulations of malicious intent, kicking ass and dispatching foes, propelling this baby to staggering heights. The complexity of the characters, interactions and charged atmosphere along with relatable qualities and individual traits, adding depth and diversity, transforming into formidable personalities. The scenes are strikingly sharp with abundant details and descriptions that feel as though you were transported to ground zero with them. Remarkable job Jen, thanks for sharing this little guy with us.
This will tear your breath away! It's intense and captivating and packed with surprises. Jen L. Grey pens shifters like no one else!
I one-clicked this without reading the blurb. When I began and started putting the pieces together I legit cried!! I can't believe who this is about and seeing these supes come together was just the absolute best! Totally thrilling, but it also hurt my heart. I wanted that happily ever after and they didn't get it! But here is their chance!! I'm excited and ready for more! This spin off series of Bloodshed Academy is everything!!
Lexy is so kind hearted and has no idea the supernatural world even exists. Once she starts to feel odd, everything changes. And our story takes flight. Along the way she meets her crew all whom will fight by her side. She's a leader without even trying to be. She just isn't okay with brutality and evil winning. With two of the hottest guys vying for her attentions and trying their best to keep her safe, this is filled with tension. But they'll all have to work together to take this prison down!
I normally shy away from prison books and only bought this because of its author and I'm telling you, just buy this book!! You'll be glad you did and meet some new friends! There wasn't a single moment when I didn't want to consume this beautiful book! I'm on pins and needles waiting to begin the next book!
Discovering you are one of magic can go many ways, and not all of them are pleasant. Lexy is a magical half-breed, but only now her powers started demonstrating. Now, when she gets kidnapped to a supernatural prison with countless half-breed residents, with their magic subdued, working hard, and being bullied by the guards. Lexy is thrown into a totally unfamiliar world with no clue about her magical abilities and no control of them - and also no control of her mouth. Sometimes funny, sometimes suspenseful, this YA book brings good entertainment with fun characters and secrets driving the plot forward. As the follow-up series to the Bloodshed Academy series, what was discovered years ago is now shown fully from the other side, illuminating the extent of mistreatment of half-breeds by the Elites. The question is, would Lexy be able to reconcile with her birth parents and unite their forces to stop the racism and madness?
Who knew leaving school early could be the harbinger for an entire life make-over? Lexy sure didn’t! After telling her parents she doesn’t feel well, they confess her unorthodox adoption. That’s just the beginning of the end when she’s taken from her home and thrown in a prison of some kind, then she learns she’s a supernatural!
Lexy overhears she’s a vampire-fae hybrid and gets warm attention of a fae guard. But that’s not enough because the leader of the vampire’s decides Lexy’s his mate, the female alpha wolf hates her, the mad scientist wants all Lexy’s blood and she has to work in the fields. Luckily, she’s got a loyal girl posse willing to help with whatever. Including talking about escape! Rating: 3.25stars
I really liked the story and the potential it could have brought. Too bad it ended up going into the NO pile... **Sigh**
The characters had potential but the MC was a bit of an idiot. And that's not an issue, necessarily, but she was really inconsistent in her idiocy. There were moments when it read like it was a totally different character and inconsistency annoys me to no end. More than that, this is, or should have been, a pretty complex world with complicated people, yet everything was flat. The world builder was inexistent and the characters made no sense.
Too bad the plot wasn't enough to keep me reading this series, although well done for making me finish this book.
All in all, great idea, poorly executed. *using the same gif because of the huge SIGH I feel at the moment
Ok first off, this is a spin off series which I'm usually 50/50 on. but this one wasn't bad. It's a continuation of Lexi's story from Bloodshed Academy. So if you haven't read that put this book down and go read that first. You 'should' not be confused if you don't, but I can't stand reading books out of order so. Anyway, this one is all about full blown against anyone who doesn't like the half bloods and i can get behind that. She is joined by some of our other characters from the series which is a nice tie in and helps make this spin off series less spin off if that makes sense. Looking forward to what Lexi's gonna do next cause it's set up nicely.
Oh Man! Oh Man! Does this book take on a supernatural read full of twists and turns and emotions you won't be able to stop reading it. Life for these guys is not easy when your locked up for being who are and can't do nothing about it. Lexy and her friends its a fight for survival and a way out, but things are not what they seem and there time is running out. Can Lexy and her friends make it out before its too late or will they not survive? Another amazing read by this author she knows how to pull you in and keep you wanting more and more and doesn't disappoint. Can't wait to read the next one.
Wow! This book has it all. You have someone who had no idea what she was, and a prison full of people who are half one thing and half another thing. It takes a group of determined people to claim their daughter (she was adopted) from this place. During it all you have the sadistic doctor and guards and some of the inmates are not much better. Someone finds their mate, sort of, and they divisie an escape plan with help from the outside. This book was jumping from page one, I enjoyed it fully. Can’t wait to see what happens next.

The special one. Lexy is kidnapped and taken to a prison for half-breed supernaturals, but she didn’t know she was a supernatural and grew up with her adopted human parents. Now she is bullied by several people at the prison, and the doctor there keeps draining her of blood and injecting her with something. She’s made a few friends and is just trying to survive until she can find a way to escape. But the prison doctor seems especially intrigued with her blood, and while in the prison she might have just found not one but two mates. Now what does she do? So, Jen L Grey is a new author for me and I am so excited to find her books! I love the way she writes, love the way all the characters are unique and completely distinguishable from each other. This book was amazing and I am not usually a fan of prison books. Lexy is a fabulous MC and her friends are great. No mate insta-love which makes me happy, gotta struggle to figure men out just like real life. Seriously great storyline and superior storytelling. I will be jumping down this rabbit hole and won't emerge until I have read all the books by this author. 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟
At the beginning I was a bit afraid where this book was going: a spin-off happening 20 years after Bloodshed Academy with a completely different main character? What about all the questions that were left behind? And then I found out who were Lexy's parents. After that my spirit changed! And the questions are being answered!
Overall I really liked the book, and I'm pretty curious about what's going to happen with Lexy and her friends after that ending. Can't wait to finish this adventures!
Oh, and once again Brittany Goodwin did a great job narrating this story ^^
I received a free audio copy from the author for an honest review.
Hunted (The Half-Breed Prison Book 1) by Jen L. Grey is a story that I could not put down till I was down and in my mind it made scream Oh My Gosh Yes I Love It Must Read!!!!!!. This is book number one in this Oh My Gosh Yes I Love It Must Read and I can not wait to read the rest of this series. I highly recommend this story to everyone who loves reading about prison and paranormal romance this story will NOT disappoint you.
I read a complimentary Advanced Reader Copy of this book & am voluntarily leaving an honest and unbiased review.
After reading a series and really enjoying it, there are times that I just can't get into the books that follow about the character's children. This book was NOT one of those. I enjoyed this book immensely. Oh heaven's and it's about Cole's daughter. What could be better? Maybe the fact that she has his snarky attitude and Jess' s fiesty nature. Lexy and her crew are just as great as the original characters. The storyline follows along with the original but has developed so much more. I was captured from page one and could have read another 20 chapters easily. Chomping at the bit for book 2.
The had me giggling and laughing like crazy she’s so much like her parents it’s amazing! Oh I loved this book so much. I could not believe how crazy and amazing this World is getting I’m so glad it didn’t end. I can’t wait to read the second book to this to find out what happens next. If you haven’t read Bloodshed Academy you should definitely read it because this book takes place years after it and there both so freakin good 20 out of 10 stars if that was possible to rate this epic book lol.
Exciting! In “Hunted” the main character, Lexy spent all her life trying not to be different, to fit in, only to be abducted and finds out why she is different, Lexy is supernatural and special too. Captured by the “Hunters” Lexy is taken to the “Half-Breed” Prison. “Hunted” is Lexy’s adventure and it’s dramatic, suspenseful, fast-paced, well-written, and the perfect beginning to a duology. “Hunted” ends in a cliffhanger that leads into “Cursed” Book 2. I received a free copy of this book. This review was posted voluntarily
Jess and Cole had a kid?!! I almost hit the floor. Bloodshed Academy raised the bar and Hunted delivered. Would you run if you were being hunted? Would you go willingly. What would you do to escape? Half breeds might have more depth than some would give credit for. One or two mates. Being adopted and biological parents being co-vert. Lexi doesn't have a boring life and when being a prisoner brings more excitement things become unpredictable. How will it end? How will it continue? And what might the future hold for Lexi? Can't wait for the next read!!
I am loving this spinoff series with Lexi! We find ourselves following Lexi into the half-blood prison system. So much action and mystery hits you at the beginning and it continues throughout the series.
The narrator, Brittany did a wonderful job portraying all of the characters. Using a range of voices that is easy to follow and listen. I loved getting lost in this world.
I’d recommend this series to anyone who enjoys paranormal prison books with a twist, along with action, mystery, and some romance.
Lexy is a half breed supe raised by human parents and doesn't know what she is is or anything about her own world. I couldn't understand why these half breeds were being put in a supe prison, so I'm glad that gets cleared up at the end. This first book is really making connections and setting up the direction of the storyline. Yes, many things happen here, but it's mostly to build the circle of friends for the female MC. The big questions are still unanswered. Why were they looking for the perfect 50/50 split? What were they going to use them for when they found them?
I just started reading this book and I'm a little irritated with it first of all how come Jess and Cole couldn't take care of their own child They were supposed to go with the Lina to help hunt down the children that were take yet here they are given up their own child they new what they were up against, Also what happened to the 3 supernaturals that raven and rage willingly gave to these people I was hoping this story would be about them being found now I don't like the 1st set of books because Jen L. Put those kids in the book and left it hanging
Short, fast, different and a bit entertaining with an interesting story line. Good for maybe YA readers.. kind of reads like a teen wrote it.. it needs a good edit and more story building and character development.. I thought this was a why choose type read but it's not and I'm not a fan of love triangles and you can't tell me you can't stand a person one second and then tell me you have strong feelings the next after a couple of interactions idk just doesn't work for me..all in all it was ok but I wouldn't read it again and probably won't read more..
This book is scrumptious! So you have a very special half bread here, she doesn't know it yet, but her parents are some the elite when it comes to supernatural creatures. Half breads are being hunted and taken to a special prison with a mad scientist. There is some unexpected romantic feelings going on, jealousy too. You don't have to read Bloodshed Academy to read this but I highly recommend it, it's from the same world.
Oh this was such a great story. I really liked the main character Lexy. If you have read Bloodshed Academy you will really enjoy this story. Also there is a book 2 which is a plus for me. I really don’t like to give away any spoilers so definitely need to read this one. I love supernatural books especially half breed stories so I highly recommend this one. Jen Grey is an amazing author and I freaking love her stories!!! Definitely a must read!!!
