Steven and the crew are home on earth, while Charlie, now disguised as a Modloch, travels to the Federations heartland, where a series of events leads to Darrick finally finding out the truth about him. Steven puts down the flat earth society and in doing so finds himself with two new crew members. When they arrive back in Modloch space, and unexpected turn of events sends them on a new adventure.
I enjoyed this book, the story just flowed off the page, although to be honest not a great deal happened until the end, when unfortunately the book just ended. I also found a couple aspects of this story quite annoying, you don’t reward people for being ‘Flat Earthers’, unless it is providing medical help for their deep rooted psychological problems. Then to take a ‘Flat Earther’ on as your PR person, who's ridiculous catch phrase is “I have a right to believe what ever I want”, you would have to be completely off your trolley! Also I still don’t get the author’s fascination with Human/Alien sex.
I knew it! Just as it came to the point that I REALLY wanted it to keep going that brilliant a-hole Murison gave me a cliffhanger! God damn it man you're going to make me cry!
Poor Charlie have all the alien women hot for him everywhere he goes and not many human ladies like him. This book ends on an unusual cliffhanger of the empire attack on the Ambassadors and Steve and Babes needing repair in hostile space.
This has quickly become one of my favorite series, and once again the wait start for the next book to see how the adventure continues. And Komora still bugs the crap out of me...
First, for me, a book by JW Murison will always rate 5 stars. He is one of the first authors I check each week to see if there is something new. Secondly, this series has had a unique way of looking at alien first contacts. Lastly, I really like the way Charlie has of cutting through the "Barnyard bucolic by-products". While I would like to see an additional sequel to the ACV pair of books or a follow on to the Kilted Cowboy this was a really great read .Thank you Bill Hodges
Very much enjoy this series and 'The Black of Space' did not disappoint. I enjoy the characters and it is simply a great book to just escape for a while. Each book in the series gets better and better. Highly recommended that you start the series and continue on this journey with the Author.
The best part was the wood working chapter. The rest was good reading, good characters, decent action. The author draws a word picture of a person that will use force to get what he wants, not knowing that friendship would get him more.
I was really involved when the book suddenly ended. At this point
the serial format really bugs me. Maybe after I've read through it A couple more times and really licked the glue off it, I'll feel better. Gripping story lines, I know the characters, quality
