An abducted cop and a gladiator prisoner must learn to trust each other with their lives…and hearts…to escape alien captors.

Rookie cop Addy Dawson must escape. Caged with a gladiator prisoner claiming to be her mate, Addy refuses to breed warriors for the Survival Race—a blood sport where the last man alive wins. No one will stop her from getting off this planet, including the seductive alpha male determined to turn her on.

Years of killing for entertainment have turned Max into a hardened beast. The only time he feels human is when at stud. But when a fiery female from his homeworld rejects him, her rebellious spirit awakens a part of his soul he thought long dead.

Bound together by a desire for freedom, Addy and Max will risk torture and worse to break out. But the hunted pair will never find refuge unless they can learn to trust each other with their lives…and hearts.

The first entry into The Survival Race series by K.M. Fawcett had me completely "captivated." Seriously. I was in the middle of Chapter 21 when the first slice of humor and a clever little introduction (the heroine introduces herself as Addy before the hero can introduce her as Hell Woman) stopped me in my tracks and I took a breath. Addy's plight, captured from Earth during a forest fire accident, pulls you to a faraway world where humans are utilized as pets to be companions, breeders and fighters. The tech, especially the medical tech, is imaginative but vague, and the aliens are sourced from legends familiar to many Earth cultures. Because this is a survival story, the pace is quick and the locales are richly described and hazardous. In many ways, the adventure aspect of this book was even stronger than the romance.

Addy wakes up naked and ensconced in a cell with human gladiator Max (also naked). Their initial interaction is tinged by coercion but ultimately has hidden and surprising consequences. That is all I will say about that other than don't stop reading because all will be revealed.

Max is also a captive, molded by years of reward for savage behavior. He is conditioned to think of his own survival first and foremost. As he comes to admire Addy's fortitude and independent will, he remembers what he was like as a young captive. She brings back his humanity. But all of his change is very, very gradual. There is no insta-love between the characters, and Max manipulates situations to his benefit. Flashes of empathy and understanding for Addy's situation are off-set by a visibly distant man, with an impenetrable veneer of harshness.

"His moods were as unpredictable and enigmatic as the rest of him. And it enticed her damned curiosity."

These two start their journey of freedom and survival as compatriots, but not lovers. Addy was a strong character, and no weak-bodied or weak-willed miss. She is clever and has the dominant will where their freedom is concerned. She also has formidable stamina and survival smarts from her job as a forest ranger. What she doesn't have is familiarity with the ice planet where they live, the breadth of the tech or familiarity with indigent life forms and customs. Her ignorance gets her into trouble during their perilous journey.

Unexpected foes pop up during their travels, and few are true friends. These two are truly alone in their flight, and like escaped prisoners you read about in the news, places to hide, resources and allies are virtually nonexistent. This comes through in cruel and bleak ways. Capture and torture are assured if they are caught, so finding time for love seems inconsequential. However, human will is indomitable. And so are Addy and Max.

I usually like these types of stories, but this one didn't ring the bell. Too many things were just a bit off, and the back-half became a shaggy dog tale, with no clear resolution at the end. Everyone was moody and brooding. Their love was "cold" and the situation didn't make a lot of sense to me. Not that scifi always makes sense...

I won't read the next one without encouragement.

I’ll say upfront my biggest frustration with this book is how the romance develops but otherwise it’s a fun ride. The hero and heroine are both human and have been kidnapped to an alien planet which is unique. Let me set it up

Addy Dawson is a park ranger and while trying to get some visitors to safety when they come too close to a forest fire, she ends up being abducted by aliens. When she comes back to consciousness, she doesn’t know she is on an alien planet a million miles away from Earth. She realizes she has been kidnapped, as she wakes up next to a naked man.

This man is named Max and has been living with the Hyboreans for fifteen years. The Hyboreans capture humans to breed Alpha Gladiators, so they can fight each other for their entertainment. Max not only breeds but he is a gladiator himself. Expecting Addy to be a willing participant, he is shocked when she has no idea what is going or wants any piece of him. When the Hyboreans realize she is resistant to Max, they both get pulled out of the cage for discipline.

Addy gets sent to “The Yard” which is a a synthetic habitat made to look like the outside. It is here she learns about the planet she is on and why they kidnap people and breed humans. The Hyboreans are quite advanced on their planet, not only with speaking telepathically but they can give a woman hormones (or vitamins) that allow her to carry a baby full term in only 20 weeks. They can also bring people back from the dead, called reawakening. As we come to learn, Max is sick of being brought back from the dead over and over, and wants to live in “the real world” where once he dies, that is it. Once he realizes this about himself, he decides to help Addy try to escape. There is a colony of people hours away which they feel if they can make it to, they may have a chance at getting off the planet.

Things happen to Addy which I don’t want to get into due to spoilers but it makes her mistrust Max quite a bit. Mistrust obviously will hinder a romance, but I did wish their feelings for each other were more pronounced throughout the book. I also feel like while I could picture in my head what the planet looked like, I wanted more information about the Hyboreans. Maybe see them interact with each other rather than just the gladiators and Addy.

There is a character named Duncan who becomes an ally of sorts to Addy. I thought she trusted him way too easy in the beginning. I found his character odd and the revelation we get about him at the end a little too easy.

This book has a lot of action which for the most part I liked. Bad things happen to them (although being able to be reawakened aka brought back to life makes “surviving” these things much easier). There is one point in the book Max and Addy have to hide in a huge refuse container, and it’s totally gross. Yet I like that this was written as it shows escaping from aliens isn’t necessarily romantic.

She stared after him with mouth open. It wasn’t only because of his audacity. She’d forgotten how fine his naked body looked even when covered in slime.
There comes a point in life when propriety goes out the window, and that point comes when your body reeks of garbage after marinating in the putrid stuff for over four hours.

Fun world even though I wish a few things had fleshed out better and the romance had been more prominent.

BEAM ME UP SCOTTY

Addy Dawson is a forest ranger, she loves her job even when it's dangerous. Like now as there's a forest fire. While trying to rescue some people she falls into the rapids and hits her head. When she comes around she's in a room that doesn't appear to have any windows or door. What's worse she's naked and so is the large muscular man next to her. Terrified and angry Addy tries to escape, demanding that this man let her go. When he explains he's as much a prisoner as she is. Addy doesn't believe him. The man who's name is Max explains that they are in a breeding box, and he and she will be expected to have sex and hopefully get her pregnant. Breeding a new generation of humans to serve their captors.

This is a first read for me by this author, I was drawn to this story as I love alien abduction stories. Addy has been abducted and is on the planet Hyborea. As the days and weeks pass she learns that the Hyboreans like to keep humans as pets. Worthy human men compete in the survival race, for the entertainment of the Hyboreans. Max with whom she had been in the breeding box with was an alpha gladiator. Of course Addy is not going to accept being a brood mare for anyone and is determined to escape.

While I enjoyed this mostly. It's obvious the author has used the legend of big foot/yeti, plus elements of Ancient Rome as in a gladiator school. Even the garbage scene from Star Wars to build her story. Considering the Hyboreans cannot communicate with their human captives it seemed odd that some of the others knew so much about the planet and their captors. It also seemed that Addy was the only one who resented being captured and treated like a pet. That just didn't sit right. I wasn't buying into the relationship between Addy and Max either. Plenty happens in the story, but on the whole it just didn't grab me. I was torn between three and four stars but eventually plumped for three as the story did not have enough originality IMO.

I've shelved this as SFR but it is more science fiction/action adventure with a slow-burn romance subplot. It does get steamy at the end, so hence the shelf choice. I also wavered between 3 and 4 stars. The writing is uneven and the narrative is confusing in places.

On the 4-star side, it is a super creative premise. Humans are abducted by aliens to compete against each other in a deadly game. Women are breeding stock. In a disconcerting twist, human death isn't final. The aliens can return the defeated gladiators to life to die again in the next race. The aliens themselves are very 'alien' as in not at all human-like and have no remorse about the capturing and breeding of their human 'pets' for these games.

Character development for the main couple was solid, some of the secondary characters, two dimensional.

This was a pretty good read. Pretty good world building. This was an action oriented story with a secondary romance. There was a villain who was wonderfully written as just a total nightmare. And it wasn't one of the aliens. There were good, bad and indifferent humans. Enjoyed it.

Review originally posted at Ramblings From This Chick

An epic beginning to a wonderful new paranormal romance series. From the very first page this story grabbed my attention as our lead female character raced to save innocent people from a raging forest fire. Right in the midst of chaos she was ripped away from everything she’d ever known and forced into a world determined to break her spirit, and own her soul.

Addy Dawson awakes after nearly drowning while trying to escape a forest fire to find herself in a world she doesn’t recognize. And, with a handsome and very naked man lying next to her. Scared, confused, and also naked Addy confronts him only to hear that they are both being held against their will on an alien planet. Though at first she thinks him crazy, it doesn’t take long for the evidence to manifest itself and for her to realize that what Max had been telling her was the truth.

Fawcett’s world building was fantastic in this story. From the illusions surrounding the ‘yard’ to the harsh landscapes of a frozen world beyond, I could close my eyes and easily envision it all. The story is mostly written from Addy and Max’s point of view. Another character has the lime-light a bit here and there towards the end, seemingly to help fill some parts of the story you’d otherwise miss if reading only from the views of the main characters. I truly enjoyed getting inside both characters heads. Getting to experience Max’s mixed feelings towards Addy and how he had to fight so hard to overcome his personal insecurities and beastly nature was incredibly endearing. I found myself rooting for him from the very beginning. Addy was so strong throughout her journey. The odds were stacked against her from the start as she was forced to deal with obstacle after horrible obstacle, fighting for her survival. Her internal struggles pulled at my heart and I found myself connecting very easily with her. By the time I finished this book I found that I truly cared for these two characters and didn’t want their story to end.

The romance between these two began as a heavy case of lust at first sight. Throughout the story they unknowingly fell deeper and deeper into each other until they were left with a relationship built on a strong foundation of trust, mutual respect, and unshakeable love. The combination of originality in plot-line, fantastic world building, and well paced action meshed beautifully with a simmering romance to create an epic and enjoyable read. I will be anxiously awaiting the next installment in this series.

I received this arc by publisher via Netgalley.

I READ IT WITHIN A DAY!!!! GOD I LOVED THIS BOOK SOOOO MUCH!!! SO INTERESTING AND DIFFERENT THAN ANYTHING I'VE EVER READ BEFORE. I REALLY HOPE FAWCETT CONTINUES WITH THE SERIES!!!!!!!!

OK so first of all what real surprised me the most was the villain, Regan. While most authors are afraid to really create a villain that is completely evil, K.M. Fawcett is not. Sometimes, (especially for me) villains need to be someone who just love to hate. Throughout reading the book I kept hoping that Regan would catch up to Addy and Max because I knew that (the way the author created his character to be) the encounter would be amazing. And she DID NOT DISAPPOINT!

If anyone who has read a villain like this please like me know!

MAX

Max is a very complex character and not one for showing his emotions. He's not cold or anything, he's just very brooding. But this is what makes him so interesting because to want to figure him out. Slowly he opens up and you understand why he's so guarded.

ADDY

You really feel for Addy through the book because she's just thrown right into this primitive world she knows nothing about AND on top of that she's pregnant. Refusing to be a broodmare for the top gladiators to carry on their genes to create more gladiators, she will do any and everything she can to escape.

I have to say the all thing this book was lacking was steamy sex scenes. They were every blend and at times I even questioned if it they even had sex. However this book was written so well that I can over look that.

I read historical, paranormal, some contemporary, but all are romance. I do not read anything remotely science fiction…until now! I started reading this book with great trepidation, but with a somewhat open mind. It contained aliens, spaceships, gladiators, abduction, and because it did have some romance too, I thought I could muddle through. I picked up this book and believe it or not, I couldn’t put it down!

It began in a forest fire in California with Addy Dawson desperately trying to get a bunch of young campers out of harms way. As they raced down the road to get away, she saw a large, hunched man running into the forest. She stopped and tried to find him, and as she was looking, those she had rescued, took off with her truck and she was trapped. She eventually jumps in a raging river to avoid the fire and just before she loses consciousness, a hand reached out to her. The next thing she knew she was naked, warm and cuddling with an equally naked, warm, gorgeous man in a room with no doors or windows. This guy named Max was calm and set on seducing her, and he told her that’s what she was there for. They were on Hyborea, she had been “abducted” for breeding to Alpha Gladiators - which is what he was. The only thing on Addy’s mind was escape and the only place to escape to was a place far south where the refugee’s gathered, which she found was nearly impossible to reach.

So I don't write reviews very often but this book deserves a review!!!! I found this while looking for a new book I wanted something different but still a romance. I am not a big fan of SF Books but soon as I started reading this one I couldn't put it down. The world and creatures inside this book are so creative and the people in it are very normal. It's got a bit of everything in it which I love not just one but you get the whole package. I def loved this book and can't wait for the next.

WOW! This book took me on a totally unexpected journey. Great addition to the sci-fi romance genre, I can't wait to read more from this author. Although I will prepare myself next time as I was freaking exhausted trekking along with Max and Addy on their journey/escape.

The story had a lot of promise, but didn’t quite deliver for me. I love the space gladiators and survival competition aspect, but I wanted the world building to be fleshed out more. Why is Addy the only human who seems bothered by this arrangement? Why did the aliens pick earthlings for this? How did the humans know what the aliens’ plans were if the aliens can’t communicate with the humans?

And while I really liked Addy and even Max at times, their chemistry wasn’t great. Them getting together in the end felt forced as a result. The action was on point, and the pacing was very fast, but I would’ve liked to see more of these details to really flesh out the world building and romance.

"Captive" is book one in the "The Survival Race" series by K.M. Fawcett. I ended up enjoying this book. I wasn't sure if I would like it when I picked it to read by this author, but the world building and characters won my heart over. I don't normally read in this genre, and I am glad that I gave it a try. Addy is a very strong and determined woman and knows what she wants. She and Max team up to try and escape the world they have been brought into. Max is very smart and uses his knowledge and experiences to make it through his day. My favorite scene is when they are on the boat, and Max comes up with the name. I highly recommend giving this book a try. I know I will be reading book two.

Book Review- Captive by K.M. Fawcett

This is an interesting sci-fi story. Addy is evacuating people from a forest fire when she gets out to check something, they steal her expedition. She is stranded out in the forest with a wildfire bearing down on her. She runs and jumps in the river, fighting the rapids to save her life. Just as she gets slammed against a rock and is losing consciousness, she reaches out to someone to pull her out.
She wakes up in a strange room with a strange naked man. She is shocked and angry. She bombards him with questions, who is he?, where is she?, why is she here? The man is a human gladiator named Max. He is there to impregnate her. She is no longer on Earth, and now a human pet. She is expected to bear children, her sons with be trained as gladiators and her daughters will have the same fate as she has.
Addy is furious and refuses to accept this as her fate. She turns away from Max and he refuses to rape her. He is taken and punished and she is placed in a Yard. A yard is where the pets are kept. Addy learns that she died in the river and the aliens reawakened her, in other words brought her back to life. She learns all she can from within the Yard. She plans to escape even when she finds out she is pregnant. How can she be pregnant, unless Max lied and had sex with her when she was unconscious. Her anger grows and she blames him for her condition. Even being pregnant doesn’t stop her plans, she has to escape. The Alpha gladiator in her Yard is Ragan. He is determined to break her spirit and looks forward to the fight. He wants to dominate her and loves the challenge she presents.
Max fears for her humanity and decides to help her escape. After he loses his position as alpha gladiator over all human gladiators to Ragan, he has nothing to keep him safe. He knows the way and how to survive. He will find a safe place for Addy, knowing she would have difficulty with her pregnancy, and then he will continue the long trek to the refuge. The escape is dangerous and hard. With Ragan on their trail and dreaded poachers waiting to capture them, they flee. They don’t trust each other, but find a way to survive.
The journey and fight for freedom that Addy and Max embark on is intriguing. I liked how the author portrayed their relationship. Addy is younger but seems to be the more understanding one. Max believes himself to be a beast and no longer human. His battle within himself is fascinating. Both characters have a depth and how they work together makes the story. The aliens and world that Addy was thrust into was a bit confusing, but it fades into the background when their journey begins. I would give it a 4 out of 5 for the characters.

I'm not a big fan of sci-fi, aliens, and the like, but something about this book's blurb appealed to me. Well, I'm glad I took a chance and read it. CAPTIVE was an exciting (and a touch unsettling) fantasy adventure and unconventional love story in one.

Twenty-three year old Earth girl Addy is abducted by aliens and taken to their planet called Hyborea. To her shock and horror, she wakes up in a small cell with a naked stranger. The man, named Max, enlightens her about what's going on.

Humans are exotic pets to the Hyboreans, and Addy's been taken to be a breeding/sex slave. For entertainment, the Hyboreans force male humans to take part in strenuous, violent survival races. These gladiators like Max are used for stud purposes when they're not competing, which is where Addy comes in. She's his new "broodmare," and though most of Max's breeding partners have been willing, Addy is not.

Max has been a captive for 15 years, and after all the degradation and abuse, he feels more like an animal than man. However, there's something about Addy that calls to the part of him that's still human. Her strength and spirit make him long for freedom, and when she suggests escaping, he agrees. Of course, their Hyborean masters aren't keen on runaway pets, and soon the thrilling chase is on.

CAPTIVE is a strong start to Ms. Fawcett's new series, and I enjoyed it quite a bit. Even though it's science fiction, the reader isn't overwhelmed with a lot of techno stuff. That's not to say that the world-building wasn't awesome, because it was! I was fascinated by the aliens and their strange planet.

The story's focus is Addy and Max's race for survival, and finding love in a hopeless and desperate situation. This story was more action/adventure than romance, which suited me fine. Considering what Addy and Max were facing, their relationship played out as I would expect.

I'm intrigued to see what happens next with the humans of Hyborea. A very close 4-stars!

Okay, so I'm going to be completely honest. I read the words 'mate' and 'breed' and thought I was in for a bit of a sci-fi smut-fest. But let me tell you, I couldn't have been more wrong! Captive is a story filled with action, adventure, pain (physical and emotional), and a wonderful romance that blooms slowly through the book.

Addy wakes up in a strange world where humans are no more than pets. And just like human pet owners, you have the good ones and the bad ones. While some are treated well others are neglected, starved, and forced to fight in tournaments for their owners pleasure. Whether neglected or taken care of humans are still seen as lower life forms. Addy refuses to be treated that way and NEEDS to escape. It's rumored there is a sanctuary in the south where humans are safe and she's bound and determined to find her way there!

Max has been on the planet for 15 years. He's lost a lot of his humanity. After fighting in the gladiator-like events for so long he feels like he's nothing but an animal. Addy's determination to be free sparks his fire to live like a human again and together they start the arduous journey south. Blizzards, rough waters, and vicious wild animals are only the beginning of the challenges that face them on their journey.

This was such a different and refreshing read. I felt emotionally exhausted by the end. It just seemed like one bad thing after another happened to these poor people, but it was all worth it in the end :)

I would like to have had an epilogue, but where it ended was happy enough to satisfy me. My own curiosity is screaming to know more, BUT since this is going to be a series, I hope I'll get a chance to catch up with Addy and Max in a future installment.

Captive was a happy accident that I happened to come across on amazon, and I'm thrilled to have found it. K.M. Fawcett will be an auto buy in my future :)

So I have to be completely honest about this one. I have read a few paranormal romance books (mostly with vampires or mind reading or dream walking) but I have never even come close to touching a Sci-Fi book. This was not something that would have ever have interested me. But as I have quickly learned, living outside of my norm is sometimes fun too. I know this is not something you would typically see me review and that is part of the reason I was so intrigued by it. With that being said, yes, there are romantic parts of it and not very romantic parts of it. I did truly enjoy this book. I did not know what was coming and I did not know what to expect as I turned each page of this book, but that was half the fun in reaching beyond my limits and reading something I wouldn't typically read.
Addy was an amazingly strong character for this book and it worked so well. She was courageous and strong and had sheer determination. Her determination alone in the forest on fire at the beginning should have been more than enough to indicate what she was all about, but once she was no longer on Earth and instead a strange box with a hottie warrior named Max, she showed even greater strength.
Max had spent years being twisted and worn down by his captors and twisted into a "monster," Max was starting to feel old. But then he found himself inside the mating box with Addy and everything started to change.
This book took me on a great adventure of survival and showed me what determination could lead to. This book was well written and had a great spirit about it. I loved the characters and I loved the time that Addy and Max shared, not only trying to survive, but falling in love. This book was mysterious and intriguing and for someone that hasn't really delved much into the shelves of the Sci-Fi section of the bookstore, I really appreciated the thought and imagination put into this book as well as the very human qualities of all the characters.

Officer Addy Dawson is out in the forest rescuing some teenage boys. They did not heed the warnings about the wildfires. As Addy is driving away with the boys, she sees a guy wounded running away. She gets out of the car and walks in the direction that she saw the guy. The next thing Addy knows she hears the car driving off. She is stranded. The wildfire is fast approaching. Addy almost loses her life when she sees some bright lights.

Addy awakes to find herself in bed naked. To make matters worse, she is not alone in bed. Lying next to her is a very naked man.

Max was taken fifteen years ago by the hyboreans. Their goal is to take humans to produce babies. All Max is is a raging beast. However when he meets Addy he wants to control the beast. Together they will have to learn to trust each other if they want any chance of gaining their freedom again.

One of my favorite lines in this book was when Addy had just woken up from being rescued to find herself in bed next to a very naked man. Addy’s three rules about sex are: It is never casual, never used as a weapon and never, ever given as a thank-you gift. That’s what fruit baskets were for.

I am not usually a fan of the alien themed books but with this book I was loving every moment of this book. This is because Addy and Max were good together. Addy is fierce and Max is the bad boy with the heart of gold and the body of a warrior. Together they were hot. While there are many steamy moments between Addy and Max this book also has a nice storyline and plenty of action. Addy and Max find themselves running around in this book. I like the world that they were in. If you are also a first time reader of alien themed books or just looking for something good to read then you should pick up a copy of Captive today.

They were on Hyborea, she had been “abducted” for breeding to Alpha Gladiators, which is what he was. She wasn’t going along with this plan! The only thing on Addy’s mind was escape and the only place to escape to was a place far south where the refugee’s gathered, which she found was nearly impossible to reach.

The last thing Addy Dawson remembers is a trying to escape a forest fire and failing, but when she wakes up she is in a square room with no doors and windows. Naked. But she isn't alone, there is also a naked man, Max, in with her, who has one thing on his mine...breeding. As Addy comes to understand the strange and cruel new world she is being kept prisoner in the more she needs to escape, together her and Max must find away out of their captivity and survive.

When I first started reading this, I was expecting a cheesy sci-fi romance, with strange aliens, men with muscles instead of brains and the women who swoon for them. A teensy part of me was a little disappointed that this wasn't the case, I love some cheese, but mostly I was pleasantly surprised, instead of being a massive corn fest instead it was a survival story about two people doing their best in an impossible situation.

If you like a tortured hero than this would be the book for you, my poor darling Max, although at first I wasn't sure of him, he soon won me over as you realise what he has been through. I also really liked Addy, she was clever and tough. The reason this got 3.5 stars rather than 4 or 5 was because although I liked the romance, there didn't seem enough of it, one minute they kind of hated each other and then wham, they didn't it was a fairly quick turnabout, it was only really the last parts of the book that really showed how well they worked as a couple.

This was a good book, full of action and emotion and I can't wait to read the next book in the series.

OMG! What a dang good story this was! I fell in love at page one and was held breathless until the end! I hung on every word and was so upset for the story to end but alas what is a good story without a beginning, a middle, and an ending?

Of course I loved Max...who could not have loved Max but without Addy and her strong kick butt will to survive attitude I am not sure Max would have made it much longer continuing on as he was having to. He had all but done lost his will to keep going. He had succumbed to the way his life was and felt broken but Addy inspired and put some new spunk in him and awakened a need to survive even if not for himself but for her and to see that she got to freedom.

They were never meant to fall in love only just to breed for their "masters" and be good little pets the rest of the time. This was just a new concept that interested me a great deal. I just can't imagine being swept off to an alien location and being meant to breed and serve as mere entertainment for the "higher beings". I would like to think I would be all spunky as Addy and try everything I can to escape back to life as I knew it but there were actually humans who enjoyed living this way and had no desire to go back.

One of my favorite quotes from the story: Well, he'd be in for a disappointment. She had three rules about sex: it was never casual, never used as a weapon, and never, ever given as a thank-you gift. That's what fruit baskets were for.

The star rating is really more like 3.8. It can't be a full 4 because my romance needs weren't totally satisfied.

Why? Max and Addy spent half the book apart. That's not what I want in a romance. The point of a romance, to me, is to watch them fall in love. That doesn't happen when the characters aren't together. I also never felt any real chemistry between them, or felt like I was reading a really great romance. As a character study, it was amazing. But the romance aspects were lacking. There, but not there enough.

The worldbuilding is amazing. I do plan to read the second one, partly to learn more about the world Fawcett has created.

There wasn't near enough of the hero's POV to satisfy my needs, and the book has left me needing to binge on hero-centered romance. Too bad it's so hard to find...

2 1/2,
Generally well written (better basic writing skills than a lot of the scifi/futuristic romances I've read) but something about this one kinda turned me off the story, though I can't put my finger on what. Never really connected with the characters. Still willing to try other stuff by Fawcett though. I think the whole premise with the aliens was just not quite believable enough. Or maybe we just didn't get enough info to explain things. I couldn't get it to work in my head and it kept knocking me out of the story.

I don't usually write reviews, so I am not very good at it but this one deserved some praise. It was surprisingly good. I went into it not expecting much, some fluff and a lot of steamy scenes, but it actually had a really exciting plot and was a fun read!

An awesome story. I couldn't put this book down!

What a story! Max and Addy were amazing mates. The drama, laughter and tears, and the love that grew between them, made for a quest to get far away from where these two were help captive!

Just as good the second read. I would have liked to read more about Abby and Max, I wish the sequel was about them.

This was an interesting concept. I enjoyed the book overall I just wished there was a little more ‎‎"steam" between the two main characters.‎
