Even the professors at Dragondale Academy are worried.
Lyssa has other concerns.
Her hippogryff Stormclaw has been attacking people, and the headmaster says he’s too dangerous to be allowed to live. Can Lyssa work out what’s causing his aggression, and find a way to stop it, before it’s too late?
And what’s going on with her powers? She can control three different elements – but all the professors tell her that’s impossible. Her grades are starting to suffer, and now some of her professors are threatening to flunk her.
When an injured werewolf tracks Lyssa down in her druid grove, it can only mean trouble. But who is Leo really – and how is he connected to the attacks? Lyssa agrees to keep his secret, as tensions between the two races threaten to spill over into violence.
How much longer can the tentative truce between the druids and the shifters survive?
You’ll love this Academy fantasy, because of the twist, turns, and magical surprises.
This is book two in the Druid Academy series and follows friends Lyssa, Sam and Kelsey as they start their second year in the school for Druids. Lyssa tries to finish off some of her summer homework in her very own druid grove, near her adoptive parent’s home. Whilst there, she comes across a surprising and possible dangerous visitor. Someone who shouldn’t have been able to enter her warded grove. He is a werewolf called Leo and he has been badly injured in an attack. He asks for her help to heal him, but she has no knowledge of healing, something she is as usual, deficient in having only known of the presence of magic for less than a year! She manages to use her powers over fire to help seal his main injuries, but that is all.
When she arrives at the academy, she finds out that a rogue werewolf has been biting mundanes, what normal non-magical humans are called, and infected them. The wolf packs are hunting for this rogue werewolf and so none of the students are allowed anywhere on the grounds after dark. Classes start with a rush and the work starts piling on. Lyssa goes back to visit her hippogriff Stormclaw, after not being able to visit him for the whole summer, to hear he has been isolated and is under threat of being put down as he has severely injured too many staff and has become completely unmanageable. Lyssa needs to find out if their bond is still there and whether it will be strong enough to change his behaviour and gain him a reprieve.
Before the first full moon, Lyssa and Stormclaw come down in the meadow beside the forbidden forest and she discovers Leo, the injured werewolf, has managed to follow her through her portal to school from her druid grove and has been hiding in the forest ever since. She is soon convinced of his innocence and agrees to keep his presence secret for now. But, an attack when the whole class is in the forest looking for a particular plant, leaves Lyssa not trusting her own judgement and his innocence anymore. She has to tell the teachers and had already told her two friends, especially Kelsey, who is a hybrid druid/ werewolf shifter, since she would be in the forest at each full moon.
Tensions between the druids and werewolves has been tenuous for centuries, but has been sorely tried with all the recent attacks. Now a student has been attacked and may be changed, the werewolf council and the druid council members are meeting and can’t agree on a solution. Wolf justice is very final in its actions and the druid council won’t agree to hand over Leo for such an end, especially when an attack happened on their grounds. Lyssa soon finds she has another power come out unexpectedly. She now has three magical element powers, when druids with opposing powers, never mind three powers, are very rare if not unheard of. Their headteacher knows of only one other druid with three powers, but they turned to evil. Lyssa now feels the pressure on what she may become and whether she will gain enough control over her other two elemental powers.
Who is behind the werewolf attacks and what their reasoning is, is still unknown and seems to have a strong desire to pull the druids and werewolves further and further apart, to destroy the tentative peace that currently exists between the two groups. A war could easily be started with the smallest of fuses to ignite it. Lyssa seems to be a key person in what has been happening, but she has no idea why. Her friends are still there for her, but she may be missing changes to those around her which could be key. A new addition to the hippogriff gang adds some interest as well as a bit of romance. An enjoyable continuation of the series and another step closer to discovering who is behind the actions that have taken place and what Lyssa’s role might be. I can’t wait to see what happens next! I received an ARC copy of this book from BookSprout and I have freely given my own opinion of the book above.
Tensions are high between the druids and shifters. Lyssa’s hippogriff, Stormclaw, has been attacking people, and the headmaster is afraid he’s too dangerous to be allowed to live. What could be causing this aggression? And even her powers aren’t “right” -- she is able to control three different elements – but all the professors insist that’s impossible.
This was a good story line with a mystery of what is causing all the unusual events. The reader can almost feel the tension surrounding the academy. Grab your copy and find out what’s going wrong!
So I loved book one but book two is just awesome! An addictive series with werewolves, magic, hippogryphs and so much more I love the storyline, love the characters and just cannot put this series down! Bring on book 3!
We have mystery, suspense, truths and lies. Lyssa is back to the Academy after summer break and finds out they want to put her hippogriff down. She has 3 powers now and trying to help a injured werewolf. Of course she spends more time doing things she shouldn't be instead of studying. Who is turning humans into werewolves? Is Leo guilty? What will happen when they find she is hiding him? What's going on with Kelsey? Can Sam help? Can they help with her grades? What is Raphael up to now? Can she save Stormclaw?

This is the second story in the Druid Academy series from Ms. Churton. Lyssa Eldridge is again sitting alone in secret Druid Grove basically playing with fire. I don’t mean in the metaphysical sense, but in the actually having a ball of flame in her hands sense. She’s interrupted by an injured werewolf who needs her help. The problem is that she doesn’t know how to do any healing. On top of that, he barged into her grove uninvited and that’s kind of against the law. They get around to introducing themselves and his name is Leo. He then derides her grove and she gets angry, but he eventually shows her his wound and convinces her to cauterize it. Yes, it is a painful as you think. The next day the portal to school opens and it’s the first day back at the Dragondale Academy of Druidic Magic. She’s very pleased to be reunited with her best friends Kelsey and Sam.
Things have been happening both in and out of the academy since she’s been gone. A rogue werewolf has been ‘changing’ regular humans which is illegal and a serious problem in both the magic and shifter communities. Her hippogryff, Stormclaw, seems to have been in trouble since she was away. The headmaster considers him unsafe and has issued the order to euthanize him. Lyssa is just beside herself about him and swears to herself to do whatever she has to do to save him. Despite all the extra security at the school, Leo managed to sneak in behind Lyssa. Apparently, all the packs seem to think he’s the rogue turning the humans and he swears he’s not. Lyssa believes him and doesn’t tell any of the professors. Then a student, one of last year’s mean girls, gets attacked by a werewolf on campus and it all breaks loose!
The first book was very fun to read, but Ms. Churton turns it up a notch or two with this book! There was so much going on, werewolves, hippogryff love and Lyssa trying to save the world. Or something like that. Druid Magic, Book One, had twists and turns. This book was a full on Primeval Whirl, a ride combining tilt-a-whirl on a rollercoaster. Yes, I looked that up. There was also a new student that showed up after school began whose name is Ava. She’s American and has some of the same type of back story as Lyssa. I will not mention all the events in this story that made it so dramatic and exciting, but all I could really say when I finished reading was, Wow. Just wow. I really want to see what happens in the next book!
Like the first book, I give a four stars rating for not finding any much romance and because it is too similar to HP in the way the academy of Dragondal works. The colours are the same, the way that each element has its own dorm with a password. I would wish to see a different structure in the academy like keeping men and women apart but mixing all elements or separating the years into dorms. Creating different colours as well would created a bit of difference like white for air, brown for earth, orange for fire and keeping the blue for water. Or just given them a blazon for each, or an embroidered sign on their cloak. Nonetheless, I really like the fact the academy is living through the ancient and sacred Tilimineuse Tree.
I really love the universe we get into it, a bit of darkness, loads of magic and mystery about who is the biological parents of Lyssa, even though we can guess who it really is from the moment we meet the character at the end of the first book.
I really like the fact that Lyssa has to go through even more obstacles and never has time to rest. She keeps needing more effort to learn about this whole new world. She understand that she's not the only one who is going through a lot of problems and she really makes efforts to solve the problems she creates and to help her friends.
I really like the new peripeteia and adventures she encounters along the second year at Dragondale. The challenge to find who is the werewolf behind the attack and the twist we get, the challenge to get Stormclaw back on track to save his life, the fight between her and Raphael and all of that with her difficulty to keep up in the academic program makes it fun and epic ! I love it !
Someone is creating werewolves… …From unwilling victims. Even the professors at Dragondale Academy are worried. Lyssa has other concerns. This is a brilliant read. Wonderful well written plot and story line that had me engaged from the start. Love the well fleshed out characters and found them believeable. Great suspense and action with wonderful world building that adds so much to the story. Can't wait to read more of these. Recommend reading.

ONE EXCEPTIONAL ADVENTURE!!! Fantastic! Churton brings her arsenal, building traps and nailing targets, blazing forth and seizing control, wielding this baby together piece by piece seamlessly. Forging through the trials and tribulations, along with a bevy of startling twists and shocking turns, testing our characters in ways they could have never anticipated. A churning vortex, chocked full of vexing contingencies and daunting events, blowing this baby into the eye of the storm, bursting it into a tailspin with a shocking culmination. Add distress, undercurrents and perplexing situations along with a boatload of trouble while dodging dreadful deeds, you have one thrilling adventure. The characters are authentic and original with qualities and traits that transform into amazing personalities. The scenes are strikingly sharp with abundant details and colorful descriptions so rich and lively, they blend and flow smoothly. Remarkable job Churton, thanks for sharing this little jewel with us.
Lyssa is resting in her grove ready to go back to the Academy to start her second year of school. There she meets Leo, an injured wolf shifter. She's upset but can't turn him away without trying to do something for his wound. Back at the Academy Lyssa comes back to find Stormclaw, her favorite hippogryff, is slated for execution since his attitude has gotten progressively worse over the school break. Add in a rogue wolf attacking innocents and transforming or killing them and the whole magical community is in an uproar. Leo is the packs' main suspect and is hiding at the Academy. Lyssa is determined to find out who is doing it and that is not a popular decision. She has so much on her plate this year that she wonders if she will even pass her finals. This is becoming an addictive series and I love her belief in people, herself and doing the right thing. I can't say enough how good this book is. I requested an advanced reader copy from Booksprout and am under no obligation to leave this review.
This is the 2nd in the Druid Academy series, & I would recommend reading in order, as the books follow the main character throughout her yearly enrolment at the Academy & her progression in learning both the laws & spells.
You pick up with Lyssa, Kelsey & Sam again, in their 2nd year of the Academy, following along to their lessons, & their many rule breaking excursions. You learn more about the Hippogriffs, with them giving some light relief & not just focusing on their involvement in the Academy game of Itealta.
Lyssa's backstory opens up considerably & Kelsey's character development takes on a dramatic change, Sam is still firmly in the 'supporting' character role but is also joined this year by another character Ava. So it will be interesting to see which directions they all go in the next instalment.
Overall I enjoyed the book, if you like YA Academia fantasy giving HP vibes then definitely give this Indie Author a go.
I enjoy this author. The stories are fresh with independent ideas I’ve not read elsewhere. At a time when people say “everything’s already been written!” Very untrue and the author moves it in her books. Each one I have read in a day so a little bummed they aren’t more flush in certain places while in others great work has been done. Thank you for writing and entertaining my mind! No sexual content really but lots of violence within the fantasy of werewolves causing it. A guy unzips his jeans but only so he doesn’t shred them as he shifts. Same thing happening as with previous books, no words spelled wrong just the wrong tense used here and there and then missing a word or having the wrong word in a sentence. The fantasy is vivid, the paranormal is fresh and the story deserves your attention!
Continuing Lyssa's adventures, this is book 2. I absolutely loved this, we met Leo at the beginning of the book. He's quirky and a bit cocky, but so loveable and sweet. There's Sam and Kelsey, those 2 are the complete opposite of each other. The storyline took some very surprising turns, it got very exciting almost immediately. I absolutely love this series, I recently bought book 1 and 2 in paperback. The covers are beautiful, and without spoiling anything stormclaw is such a fantastic character. That's all I'm gonna say on him.
This book was the second book in the Druid Academy series. And it did not disappoint. It was great to see how well the story continued. There was so much happening and it kept you hooked with every single page. There were lots of twists and turns in the book, which challenged the characters, and makes them so much more enjoyable than they already were. I am so excited for the next book in the series and to find out more of what will happen.
This is an excellent addition to the series. It is well written and the characters and story were both well developed. I loved seeing the character dynamics develop and evolve through the book. The story was excellent. It was action packed and had plenty of suspense, intrigue, emotion and twists and turns. I look forward to the next book in this series!! I’d highly recommend this book!!

Very enjoyable romp, better than the first which I also enjoyed reading, but this one definitely has added much more to the experience. Didn’t want to put it down and stayed up late to finish it as it was very exciting and nail-biting ending. Already bought the next one as dying to see how it continues. Well done Ms Churton a good expansion on the theme, loving the werewolf Vs Druid elements and very topical at the time of me reading this.
Feral Magic (Druid Academy 2) by C. S. Churton is a very awesome story that I have read. This is book number two in this awesome series that I have fallen in love with from book number one. I highly recommend this story to everyone who loves reading about shifters, magic and fantasy.

This book is well written and the characters and story continues to grow. This book follows friends Lyssa, Sam and Kelsey in their second year at the academy. I loved seeing the characters continue to develop through the book. To make an action packed book with loads of suspense, emotion and many twists and turns. Totally can't wait for the next book.
Well it had yo happen this series continues it is a fun read. Even the sports are sort of copies potters game. It still reads okay and its fun and predictable but a good read. It's neither deep nor exceedingly original but a fun when you're stuck in lockdown due to a pandemic.
How did I not see that coming?!? I mean it was the one thing that made sense. Lol. That was a fun book. Kind of sad that there was no relationship developed in this book. But the action was fun to read through. I like Lyssa's rebel ways and breaking the rules. Lol
Once again, our intrepid heroine, Lyssa, is hard at work trying to make heads or tales of her magical Druidic powers. She still has her friends, Kelsey the halfbreed Druid werewolf and Sam the male Druid, her classes and her ability to be right in the thick of any action or mystery. It’s a good second book and I can’t wait to read the next book.
This is the second book in the series. So many twists and turns and surprises are in this book. I look forward to the next book. C. S. Churton takes the reader on a journey with druids and werewolves and spells. Lisa finds out who her father is. Be sure to read this and escape into another world. Happy reading! 😊
Very interesting continuation of Book one I enjoyed it as much as the first book and I am about to dive into book three again very different genre for me it's nice to read some fantasy from time to time and this is no exception a good read read it in 2 days
Lyssa's life just gets more interesting with the second book in this series. Great interactions among characters and it's fun to see where the storyline goes. I'm definitely hooked now! Recommended for teens and up.
