Starting with poetry, writing has always been a constant in Monica's life. The interest began in her teenage years, being in love for the first time. Her love for writing has only progressed. Song lyrics and poetry led to short stories, then one day in her down time, a short story became a 56k word novel. It has been non-stop since then. Being a wife and mother, has only added to the joys of Monica's life. Attaining a BS in Sociology, helping her better understand people and their behaviors, has only helped her become a better writer, understanding characters and their complex personalities. Romance of all types has been her passion, and she plans to continue honing her skills in that genre.
WHEEEEEWWWW CHILE!!!! This story had more twists and turns in it than 100 rollercoasters. So much didn't need to happen but did due to lack of communication. I need a vacation after this series. Monica, you wore me out with this Series!!!
Everytime...I never wanna put it down! So amazing and thrilling and dangerous. You killed it! And shout out to the Love & His Majesty crew! Amazing as always!
This has been one rollercoaster of a series but I loved every minute of it. Very well written, great character development and storyline. Corey and Danielle's life was full of downs with betrayal, revenge and backstabbing. Margaret really did a number on their relationship especially when it came to Danielle. Her personal vendetta was at an all time high. Unfortunately, in the end Danielle played the ultimate price. Through it all, with the help of close knit friends Corey was able to overcome it all and in the process develop a new loving relationship from a long term friendship with Erica. They were truly meant for each other. I was happy that enemies were dealt with while Corey and Erica continued to be each other rock and comfort. Great ending to an amazing series.
This series kept me going! Margaret made everyone's life hell and had plenty of help doing it! I've never in my life seen so many jealous people, including family members that would do anything for money. I hate that Danielle spent her life going through so much torture and felt like she couldn't let Corey help her. Corey's past may not have been good, but it ended up being very helpful. I loved this series and I'm loving your work!
Closure? Finally. Loved having all of the families from this series, the Sweet series, plus Noah and Raquel. Is this the last about this crew? Wonder how they sleep with both eyes closed?
The intensity and the ride of this series was definitely a page turner. I enjoyed it from the beginning to the end. I knew after reading the Sweet series a month or so ago I wanted to read this one. I wanted to know Cory and Danielle back story and boy was it a story. Danielle character was not my favorite but she served a purpose. I'm so glad Cory got his happily ever after and forever because he truly deserved it. Danielle took him through a serious emotional rollercoaster. She had right with a few things that happened in her life but the other I felt she should had told her husband from the beginning.
I was so glad when Cory and Erica started to bond through a friendship/work relationship first. He did things in the right order making sure one relationship was over before starting a new one. Erica proved to literally be his "ride or die" all the way to the end. Cory is going to finally get his little girl to "spoil." Erica is truly his soulmate, that prayer she was praying over him and for them was powerful.
After 12 books with these characters they seem so real, like a huge blended family that lives in Texas. I would not mind reading another book or series to see if W.J. and Shannon ever gets backs together. I would also love to know when Shawn and Sonya finally marries. I know they do from the novella Whatever it Takes: An Erotic Novella. It seemed from this series that Shawn and Sonya was already co-parenting fairly well without Serita. Another book to tie everything and everybody together would be great. I also wonder did Serita stay clean or stray again.
Overall, fantastic read and I'm glad Cory finally gained a family that truly loved him. Shawn and Devin became brothers to him when his adopted brother tried to kill him and his son. I would recommend this to others, I would say start with the Sweet series and then read this one so it all makes sense.
The author does just enough to keep me invested in these characters… so I will read the next book. I’ve written other reviews in both this and the Sweet series that could be repeated in this review, so I won’t rehash it here. I couldn’t wait to be done with this book… it just dragged on. Sonja doesn’t do it for me and neither does Erica.
🚨Spoiler Alert 🚨 Very convenient that Danielle gets killed off. Corey’s been cheating, both emotionally and physically. First with Sonja and again with Erica. Maybe if he wasn’t too busy worrying about getting his 🍆🌊, then he would’ve known something was up with Danielle. 🤷🏾♀️ Why didn’t Danielle tell him about Margaret? The reasoning provided did not make sense,
I know these things happened to make the story but the development was sloppy. It just didn’t make sense. It seems to me that the author could not figure out a way to explain Danielle’s behavior towards Corey and just threw this 💩 together.
I’m sick of reading about Shawn and Sonja. It’s like the author is doing everything in her power to make us like Sonja because she has a special affinity for her character. It’s not working! All it’s done is create inconsistencies in Sidney, Serita, and Danielle’s characterization.
Yow, my girl E came through for my boy Co! I love the way their friendship blossomed into this sweet love!!!! D still a witch to me. I care zero for what she put Corey through!!! Maggie girl had so much pull for an old bag. Lance needs a whooping....bad mind is active!!! Happy to have indulge in Corey! I didn't trust a soul for Corey , everybody on payroll. Love the father /son relationship between Corey and Nick. Monica, I just love your stories! Intimate scenes were steamy as usual. Love your pen game!
I love this author but at the same time I hate her 😩 just kidding. I read Noah and Rac story first so I knew Corey’s wife would die and he’d marry Erica and have a daughter. I always fault like something was up with Danielle like she needed help. I wish Corey would have done more. Didn’t care for Erica at all. I love every one of you books. I’m hoping that nick and Kyle have a story in the future. And some how Danielle lived 🧐🤔 anyway thanks for the writing amazing books
This book along with its twists and turns made you want to yell, fuss and laugh with the antics of these characters. Corey went through a lot with Danielle but he still held a spot of love in his heart for her. Yet Corey’s love for Erica filled his soul and his background history and former street life saved them from Margaret’s wrath. This was a great ending to this series but there is no doubt that these characters will show up again.
This entire series took me on a rollercoaster ride. I had to pause mire than few times while reading this book. Monica Walters has a wild imagination and I love it. I came to this series from her Sweet Series because Book 9 had events I had missed. This series filled in some of the gaps. Now I can continue with the Sweet Series. My suggestion: Read the Sweet Series Books 1 - 8 then come to the Motives & Betrayal Series Books 1 - 4.
This book was so filled with drama that I didn't know if I should stop reading or keep going. The emotional rollercoaster this series took me one was wild. I loved Corey and what kind of man he became. This book was really good and I enjoyed how the series ended, great read!
This whole series has me torn. I feel that the reason Daniele died was eventually because of Corey. It seems his love for Érica was very different. To me he really didn’t love Danielle. This whole series brings to mind “Oh what a tangled Webb we weave when first we practice to deceive”.
This series was off the chart. It was straight fire and I wish I had read it right after sweet series. It explains so much about Corey and Danielle's relationship. Every man may or may not start out good, but when a man is in love with a woman transformation can take place.
What we won’t do for love and our love ones. Danielle live as a tortured soul. I hate she didn’t trust her husband to be the he man and partner he was destined to be. Thankfully Corey was able to withstand it all with Eric by his side. Personally. I’m looking for a Sweet Series Sir, to be all the man I need.
This was such a great ending to a roller coaster series...I truly hate Danielle had to die in such a manner!!!...Had she been more open with her husband, I'm sure this would have ended differently for her!!!...Trenton and his family was full of crazy ppl!!!...Lance was just as bad as Margaret!!!...
The bond of friendship in this series was awesome. I was laughing and crying reading this book. I loved Corey's and his son's relationship. Read this series you will not be disappointed!
I already knew Danielle was going to die because I had read the stories out of sequence but, dam. Danielle went through way to much. I didn't like how Corey handled protecting her. Good book but man did Danielle get tortured . :(
I wish I would have read this series before the Sweet Series….I enjoyed these books…poor Danielle..I think she wanted to die once she knew that Trenton really loved her and wanted her…Corey finally got his happy ending
Sweet baby Jesus I really didn’t think this book would end like this. I was so darn nervous but I’m super happy Danielle 🙄... the drama and twist This was a good series
