The ball that started it all . . . On the night of her eighteenth birthday, Savannah Prescott finds herself whisked away to a ball in an enchanted castle. Surrounded by a sea of monsters, she spots a familiar face—one that she thought she had forgotten. Luca Caspan is back, and he has much to tell her, starting with why he left her heartbroken two years ago. While his shocking revelations are true, much of what Savannah remembers of the ball will later prove to be a fantasy. In the moment, however, everything about this one night feels real . . . Previously published in The Monster Ball anthology, One Night is the short story that started it all. Discover how Sav and Luca’s journey began, the real and the not-so-real, from the very beginning.
I live in the quiet, middle-of-nowhere Everett, Pennsylvania with my three boys.
I've been writing since I was eleven, after I swiped one of my mom's Dean Koontz books. I still remember the first one I read; it was called Darkfall, and kept me awake most of the night. Anyway, I was totally inspired when I learned that he came from the small rural town I called home (true story, I swear!), and started writing freaky little horror stories because I wanted to be just like him. I gave the stories to my mom to read. I don't think she was as impressed as I was, but she put on an encouraging face...and that was how my writing obsession started.
After years of writing for a hobby and taking creative writing courses, I've published my first novel, Ignited. My dream is for Dean Koontz to no longer be the only bestselling author from my little middle-of-nowhere hometown.

This book was published as part of a anthology before it was released as the second book in The Shifter Crown Series. I got it on release day and read it soon after. It makes some comments clear that Lucas says in the first book and also we get a detailed run down of the 18th birthday. It was an okay book. I love Desni's books but here I thought she could do better.
I first read book one in the Shifter Crown series and I am so glad I gave Desni Dantone a try! This one is a prequel to book 1. It tells what happened between Sav and Luca the night of her 18th birthday. Sav catches her bf Steve and her sister in a car having sex and takes off toward the backyard. She's humiliated and doesnt want to see her so called friends laughing at her. A magical piece of paper bearing an invitation to the Monster's Ball falls to ground in front of her. She wants to go but it doesn't say where it is. Then a strange women dressed as a true fairy shows up. She dresses Sav up in a gorgeous dress , etc and transports her to a castle somewhere. Sav is at the bar when a drink is placed in front of her by the bartender and she tells her, HE ordered it..Sav looks around and is immediately drawn to a pair of intense blue eyes... read on to find out more! I cannot wait for the rest of this series to be out! Please Desni hurry up! 💜💜
