Ned Newley doesn't even want to be governor. He's terrified of public speaking; his poll numbers are impressively bad. To his ever-supportive Chief of Staff, Ned seems destined to fail. But political consultant Arthur Vance sees things differently: Ned might be the worst candidate to ever run for office. Unless the public is looking for... the worst candidate to ever run for office. A timely and hilarious comedy that skewers politics and celebrates democracy.
I played A.C. and read the script before taking the part and I honestly love the dynamics. You definitely need a cast that will be able to bounce off of each other well. Comedic timing is everything.
Fast-paced and full of wit and humor. Feels a bit wordy and short on action (but then a script about politicians would feel that way). Altogether a fun and enjoyable read.
I saw this on stage a couple of years ago and thought it was so-so, so I gave it 3 stars. I saw it again tonight with a much more talented cast and thought it was really good. I'm upping my rating to 4 stars. I don't listen to audio books, but I can see how the narrator can make a tremendous difference.
