SPOILERS

SPOILERS I really tried with this book but I can’t read stories that have dumb heroines. First, the book went on and on in the beginning then sped up somewhere in the middle. There’s a major difference between being naive and just plain stupid. The heroine was just stupid. She marries a billionaire and some weeks later her father, someone who was NEVER in her life, suddenly pops up out of nowhere saying he just wanted to see her. She then immediately accepts him with open arms with no doubts or suspicions about the timing of his arrival and kept going on and on about what a good guy he was. Both her husband and best friend knew what was up. Then when it’s all revealed that he’s just there for money, her father starts going in on the husband saying all these lies and she believes him. After finding out he was just there for money and was not a “good” guy, she believes the lies. She knows her husband and his character but chooses to believe someone who was never there for her and lied to her since the beginning. Stupid. And then she finds out that it was her mother who told her husband that he Dad was not a good guy and she calls her mom and actually accused her of laughing behind her back too. This is the part where I stopped reading because I just couldn’t with her anymore. This is the lady who has ALWAYS been there for you, loved you, supported you and you actually believe she would call your husband and laugh behind your back with him? Like I said...stupid. I know this is just a book but it really upset me how stupid she was.

Well... I don’t think this was as good as I thought it would be.
First, I felt completely lost most of the book about the secondary characters. The MCs talked about them like I should know who they are and how they’re connected. And, I just found out why after reading the author’s note at the end of the book and seeing that each character has their own books, that were released before this one. I always enjoy reading books like this, where a lot of characters are connected but still, the author should write it in a way as if I’m reading this one for the first time and before all others. She didn’t even gave a brief introduction about them, just threw names out there like I’d understand. Anyway, that annoyed me a bit because I could see I was missing on a lot of references from the other books, but she never explained any of it.

About the story itself, I found this one through an ad on Facebook and decided to give it a try. It wasn’t as good as I thought it’d be.
Evie was so blind sometimes, she did not see what was right in front of her and acted so naive and slow sometimes, it annoyed me a lot. I don’t know, she was just so naive about some stuff, thinking she was really smart about judging people and ending up being wrong about it.
Nate was actually fine. He spoke what he wanted and was smart about stuff. But that part at the end, where to prove his love for Evie he gave her ALL his fortune, it was pretty dumb. I understood what the gesture was supposed to mean but it was not cool, and Evie didn’t even try to take it back, she just stayed with everything in her name that wasn’t hers.

Anyway, I think I just expected a lot from this book and got disappointed when she started throwing secondary characters out there all the time like I should know them. This was supposed to be a stand-alone story.

..and now I want to dive into everyone else's stories. Ugh, this was cute.

Marrying My Billionaire Boss was predictable but I enjoyed it all. Ugh, Nate and Evie were just completely adorable. It was honestly cute that they were both trying to get the other to notice them and then they only "looked" when the other wasn't. They also had amazing chemistry and both had strong crazy feelings against the bikini mink girl.

The only thing that was a smidge weird was the whole - you need to get married and then babies vibe I was getting. Not completely surprised that they had a one night stand that they couldn't remember.. or ya know the whole marriage thing either. I just couldn't figure out who was behind the scenes. Of course, I had some theories.. but nothing was concrete until the ending.

Overall, it was good and I definitely enjoyed this book. Not going to lie, I also got books 1-3. Let's do this!

At first I thought pacing was the problem. But then I was at the halfway point and still waiting for any romantic development. Now it's over and there really wasn't any time spent with Nate and Evie together.

It was honestly a bummer. And the references to what felt like a million other character couples... sure it's a stand alone but it features half a dozen other characters from other series.

And. It just sort of ends. It's very HFN, with very little resolution to the crazy ex plot, the crappy father plot, even Nate and Evie.

Too much of it was boring set up for follow through that never happened. Maybe it happens in the background of other books?

There was real potential in the characters but the book speedwalked past it.

Don't really want to recommend it, or read the bajillion characters stories that were hinted at.

Good ideas, bleh barely "successful" execution

Cute and funny but... I hate when the book description gives up the whole plot. Ok, I understand it was quite cliche anyway and the reader could guess what's going to happen, however I feel like I was ripped of the opportunity of patting myself on the shoulder for being such a great detective.

I was eager to read Marrying My Billionaire Boss for more than one reason. Firstly, I love Nadia Lee's writing. I've read all of her books and several bonus stories. As a romance writer, she doesn't follow a rote script. Her writing is vibrant, imaginative, sensual and creative. Secondly, Nadia weaves together family sagas and relationships from book to book like a Medieval tapestry. Thirdly, I was eager to catch up a bit with my favorite Nadia Lee character, Dane Pryce, once again. I was not disappointed on any front with Marrying My Billionaire Boss.

Nate Sterling, the last remaining single male in the Sterling family, has been involved with several of the previous stories, and it was high time we see more of this special, caring Sterling man. And, oh my!, we are not the least dissatisfied with getting to know him more intimately. Nate runs the charitable arm of the Sterling dynasty. He is compassionate, intelligent, tough and fair. He's gorgeous and hot...the cherry on top.

Evie Parker is Nate's assistant. She's working to restore her life after a debilitating breakup in her small hometown. Los Angeles and Nate Sterling have offered her the generous opportunity to do just that. Working with the steamy Sterling bachelor arouses Evie's desire, but she values her job too much to drop her guard. Strictly professional she must remain.

Nate is trying his best to tear down Evie's defenses, and he is completely focused on the task. Women practically fall to his feet, including the craziest of the crazy, to his chagrin, but he cannot seem to crack Evie's shell. Fortunately for Nate, one of his delusional ex-gal pals affords him the opportunity to whisk Evie away for a weekend, where he hopes to make some progress toward claiming his prize. Neither he nor Evie could have predicted how the night in Vegas would proceed, and it changed everything.

New alliances, old hurts, past fantasies, future desires all play out in the newfound coupling of Nate and Evie. So many complications, but the rewards can be monumental if each of them will stay true to their hearts.

You won't be disenchanted with Marrying My Billionaire Boss. Plus, Nadia Lee fans will encounter beloved characters such as Kim, Yuna, Court, Justin, Vanessa, Ryder, Dane, Sophia, Elizabeth and Tolyan, among others. It's always pleasing to get a glimpse of our favorites!

I'm thrilled to have received an ARC copy of Marrying My Billionaire Boss. It's most definitely a GOODREAD!

I loved Nate and Evie’s story! This book sucked me in from the start!! This book was pretty funny too. Nate and Evie end up in quite the situation after going to Vegas from there the story takes off. I really enjoyed this story and I liked that these 2 had chemistry and were off the charts! Great read!!

This book is such a cliche with no intact story, plus the melodrama is a bit too much!
For girls who like to read books where female leads have depth and character....don't even look here.

Big Swing and a Miss

Books like this are the reason why i subscribed to KU in the first place. I was tired of spending money on books that had good ads but ended up being an actualy huge disappointment, much like this one was. The premise was amazing: Assistant and boss secretly lusting after one another, through some crazy shenanigans wind up married in Vegas with absolutely no memory, and then to add to the crazy she ends up pregnant. The execution on the other hand was very poorly done. The pacing of the story was off and so many parts felt so forced and it was just altogether too easy to pick it apart. Now I know that a lot of these books require some level of suspension of disbelief but the fact that she not only took a pregnancy test in someone else's house, but didn't lock the door and then told a 6 year old kid (maybe? I actually don't think the kids age was mentioned) that some people can make lines appear by peeing on the stick but he couldn't, was just too much for me. LIke of course this kid is going to make a big deal about it, and like come on honey, you're in someone' else's home at least lock the door when you're going to the bathroom. The overal relationship felt very superficial, there was never really any big moment where they overcame the boss/assistant relationship. He lusted after her since the interview, she lusted after him, but wanted to keep things professional. He spent the majority of the time they worked together lying to her about needing her to dress him and make him breakfast. Not to mention that she had like no faith in him whatsoever. Like she legitimately belived that he was just some spoiled rich guy that couldn't take care of himself. She went into this "marriage" thinking that she'd be out within 6 weeks, found out she was pregnant, he said like one nice thing about taking care of her and the baby and BOOM she's in love with him. LIke what in the world? Overall not a great book. Had the time been taken to plot out the idea and some serious editing been done, i think it would have been better. After all is said and done, I had a few other books form this author hanging out in my KU queue that I will be returning without reading.

Quick Summary: An employer-employee marriage of convenience

My Review: Marrying My Billionaire Boss by Nadia Lee was a quick and easy read that was a little bit sweet and a little bit spicy.

What began with an unstated mutual attraction between two people who worked closely together ended with a hasty and rather peculiar impromptu marriage. Added to the confusing chain of events, the story featured an aggressive ex with psychotic tendencies, a bachelor auction, a deadbeat dad, a highly involved family of wealth, a hardworking mother who had a secret, a small, loyal friend group, and a baby.

The conflict in this book was minimal. The steamy chemistry between the couple was evident from the beginning. The final act of love shown by Nate to win Evie's heart was monumental.

A Notable Mention: I loved the enemies to lovers vibe that was eluded to between Evie's best friend and the man she was loaned out to for work. Talk about a blast from the past! That story is sure to be fire.

My Final Say: Readers who want to read a flirty romance with a touch of heat will like this book.

Wasn't that impressed with this...and I can't exactly pinpoint what's wrong with it. Writing was decent enough. Characters were ok, but nothing special. This is part of a series, insofar as there are characters from previous books that make appearances and you don't really know their importance and significance unless you've read those previous books, and that part was undisclosed prior to me reading this. If I had known about it, I likely wouldn't have read it! That being said, I think this is a "one and done" author for me. Just couldn't get into anything with this book!

Avoid if trigger warnings in book blurbs are for you

I read some pretty dark thrillers and romances and typically would not mark a book down for disturbing content. However, this is marketed as a romantic comedy with “just lots of heat, heart and humor” and, in addition to there not being a lot of heat between the protagonists, the author’s attempt to milk humor out of what happened in Vegas was even more disturbing to me than the complete lack of consent issue.

Also, there are editing errors. Multiple times, there are passages where it reads as if the author changed how she wanted to word something but forgot to check the surrounding text and there was a word missing or the wrong tense or a character responds to a question/comment as if the other person had said something else. The reader can understand what the author meant but it feels sloppy and unfinished.

The h is also very inconsistent. Initially, she seems competent but then things are thrown in that make me wonder how incompetent she is at her job and if the only reason she is still employed is that the H thinks she is hot. She also just lets a lot of upsetting stuff go (with the author trying to make it humorous) without raising some pretty important questions then becomes irrationally upset over something late in the book that is minor in comparison (and which she is being a complete hypocrite over) leaving the entire conflict and resolution feeling completely contrived. It is not the “hilarious and sweet proposal scene” promised in the blurb, it just left me feeling both the H and h are idiots and thinking there is no way this marriage would last.

I had enjoyed as light romcoms a couple other books by this author but this one was very disappointing.

***Spoiler Warning***

This is not a “oops we had to much to drink” Vegas trope books. Both the H and h are illegally drugged without their knowledge or consent and the next morning have no memories of the night before after being drugged. The next morning is completely played as comedic as is later in the book when the h realizes she might be pregnant as a result of an incident she has no memory of it is also played for comedy. Neither she or the H have any of the questions or feeling of violation one might expect. I also found it very strange that they both assume it is his baby... honestly, as a reader, I still am not convinced. And I found it mind boggling that she took his acceptance that it was his as a sign of trusting her since she honestly has no idea if it is his or not since she does not remember that night (as far as she knows, it could have been the security guard that helped them back to the room with them both passed out). At least the H questioned what happened that night enough to start an investigation of sorts into what happened but after pages of setting that up it was just ignored from then on. The h doesn’t even question it after she finds out (at the same time she realizes she is pregnant) that the H had been deliberately lying to her about his alcohol tolerance... seriously, what woman would not have had questions about the night at that point?

Such a fun book! This light, sexy rom com starts out funny and stays that way the whole time. It's a sexy slow burn with plenty of chemistry between the characters, a billionaire boss, and an ill-advised trip to Vegas. This is definitely one of the best books I've read by Nadia Lee - it reads quickly and never gets weighed down by any real angst or heaviness.

The story follows Nate, one of the nicest, most caring billionaires I've read about in a romance novel. He's been crushing on his assistant, Evie, for months but she's shown no sign of reciprocating his feelings. When an overeager (and slightly unhinged) ex reveals her plan to win a date with Nate at a charity auction, he begs Evie to do whatever it takes to win instead. The only problem? They have to follow through on the planned date to Vegas, and I'll bet you can guess what happens from there.

I loved the humor in this, and the writing is solid. There's a light, fun feel to the whole book that makes it just the right kind of rom com. Nate's adorably sexy, slightly over the top but in an endearing way. The only reason I'm not calling this 5 stars is because the story was pretty predictable - I think we all know what happens when they go to Vegas - and a few of the jokes felt a little mean. Nadia Lee knows how to write comedy, and she just keeps getting better with every book. I received an ARC via Give Me Books and am voluntarily leaving a review of this romantic comedy.

The amazingly talented Nadia Lee is another author that I'm newer too, and while Marrying My Billionaire Boss is only my second read by her, I'm all in! Her writing style is so original that it's just fun to read! This story is about Evie, who was only supposed to bid on her hottie Billionaire Boss to save him from a psycho ex, but ended up with so much more! She & Nate went out on the date from the auction, and next thing you know, they're married in Vegas. And if things weren't complicated enough, it seems that they consummated that marriage, and now there are two pink lines on that ultimate test. OMG! I LOVE this trope so much, and I laughing my behind off as this journey took a hilarious turn! Then there's that side of sexy, as these two had off the charts chemistry, which translated into setting the sheets on fire during sexy times that really never stopped. I NEVER wanted this story to end, and once you one click on it, you'll feel the same! HIGHLY HIGHLY HIGHLY RECOMMEND TO ALL!

Being super attracted to your boss does not help!

Evie has tried so hard to keep her relationship with Nate professional and is doing a good job at it until she has to rescue him from a bachelor auction. There's a reason why Nate asked her to help him at the auction. But they didn't expect to get married to each other and they didn't even remember anything. Not until she got pregnant..

I liked this book but I wish I could have felt more chemistry and heat from these two. Their relationship kind of rushed, like from from boss and assistant relationship, then straight up they're married. Even when they start to get around with their marriage, their romantic development is lacking. But there is a laughed out loud moments in this story.

Fun Read!

What a cute, fun read! This was refreshing and different from any other office romance I've read before.

The list of things Nate does to get Evie's attention is hilarious. Poor Evie! She's so focused on being the best assistant she can be, she doesn't realize what's going on.

Nadia Lee did a fantastic job of blending the fun, the funny, and the passionate and added just enough somber moments to create a heartwarming read. I've never read anything by her but I am a fan now.

Marrying My Billionaire Boss by Nadia Lee is the story of Nate Sterling and Evie Parker.
Evie had a game plan for her life but after a breakup things don't seem to be to on track. When her boss Nate asked that she help him with a female who isn't taking taking no for an answer. There is an auction that he is going to be in that Evie needs to save him from. But this leads them on to a trip to Vegas where things ends up going off the track or maybe for them it gets them on track
This was a fun read! Really enjoyed it!

Meh.

There is something about mf romance that makes me hyper critical. I think it's the fact that I don't read many of them so I'm even more picky than I used to be.

Marrying My Billionaire Boss by Nadia Lee had been on my tbr for awhile and I finally picked it up today. Cue binge read.

I liked (?) Evie. I don't know, to be honest, she's a bit of a doormat and both the main characters were really obtuse for a lot of the  book.

Personally, I love fiction but this was a bit more unrealistic to me in terms of real life reactions and that was my real takeaway from finishing.

This was women's fiction at its peak. With love, drama, plot twist, grand gesture, and happily ever after.

4.75 Stars (rounded up to 5.0)

MARRYING MY BILLIONAIRE BOSS, Nadia Lee’s latest, was incredibly moving, sweet without being cloying, and nearly perfect. Almost nothing was as expected, which was a breath of fresh air.

I’ve been a fan of Ms. Lee’s books for years, and though I won’t say I’ve come to expect certain things from her…I kinda sorta have. MARRYING MY BILLIONAIRE BOSS blew those expectations out of the water.

Sexy times? Oh yes, but…totally within character for this hero and heroine and perfect for this plot line. Ms. Lee never tried to force the issue, and though the sexual tension was there, the H/h didn’t act on it until (gasp!) it was right all the way around. It takes a special author to make that work, and Ms. Lee has the necessary skill in spades.

But I’m getting ahead of myself. I adored the hero, Nate, but it’s the heroine, Evie, who makes the story work. She’s one of my favorite heroines. I love how she calls Nate “Mr. Sterling” from the beginning and keeps it up for the longest time, struggling to maintain a professional relationship with her boss despite how attracted to him she is. More than that, though, I love how she doesn’t fall into his arms until she comes to know the inner man and falls for him emotionally.

Tears? Oh yes, my heart broke for Evie when she learns the people she loves have lied to her to protect her. I understood the lies and forgave them because they stemmed from their love for her, even though I normally despise liars as Evie does. Robert Louis Stevenson wrote, “The lie of a good woman is the true index of her heart.” I read that in a book many, many years ago, and I’ve carried it with me as a sort of talisman. “Tell the truth and shame the devil,” is my usual mantra, but…not always. Sometimes a lie is warranted, not for yourself, but for someone you love, which was the case here.

Certain things I suspected would happen DID happen (and I love those “aha I was right” moments, lol), but the ending wasn’t one of them. I was totally blown away by Nate’s solution to their dark moment, and loved him even more because he didn’t take the easy way out. I’m still smiling about it.

All in all, MARRYING MY BILLIONAIRE BOSS was a totally satisfying read from start to finish that joins several others by Ms. Lee on my keeper shelf.

It started off great. Until about the halfway mark. At which point specifically? When Evie realized she loved Nate. No. They hardly knew each other! So, I brushed it off; there have been other books where the love realization happened a bit early and it still turned out to be a great book.
No.
The pregnancy thing was... weird.

She missed her period ONCE. ONCE. Sure, she’s regular enough that “if [she] was on an island, [she]could tell what month it was simply based on [her] periods regularity”. Okay but you’re telling me you’ve NEVER, ONCE missed your period? 🤔. Improbable.
So she missed it. Her conclusion? I’m pregnant. Not an unreasonable thought except... she was sure she didn’t have sex. The more reasonable explanation she could have come up with was that she was just stressed. Until the next month.
How convenient that taking birth control “messes [her] up”. 🤔🤔🤔🤔🤔🤔🤔🤔🤔
See, this period regularity thing seemed like a really easy way to get her to realize she was pregnant. Too convenient and I hate books where things are too convenient.

Okay, moving on, she suspects she’s pregnant. Evie goes and buys some pregnancy tests and takes them. No surprise, she’s preggo.
Correct me if I’m wrong (seriously, I’ve never taken a pregnancy test and don’t know much about them) but do they work when you’re only 1 week pregnant?
Very convenient 🤔🤔🤔🤔

Now, who didn’t see Georgette as the one responsible for the drugging and etc?

Next, we come to Evie’s dad, Bradley. Was that really necessary? Who, again, didn’t see him as a good for nothing dude?

Finally, The Grand Gesture. 🤦🏽‍♀️
*SPOILER*

He signed over all his money and everything he owns to her. Why? WHY?? I understand Evie was worried about the disparity between them in terms of ‘power’ but dude, a relationship is where you work through that and you build enough trust so you know that your S.O won’t use that power against you. 🤦🏽‍♀️🤦🏽‍♀️🤦🏽‍♀️
Even if Evie has all the wealth, Nate is STILL a Sterling. HE has all the connections. HE has the family reputation. In the end, it’s still HIS money. 🤦🏽‍♀️🤦🏽‍♀️🤦🏽‍♀️

The book was going to be a solid 4-stars until the shit at 50%.

Another fab book with familiar characters, terrific writing, and a fun storyline chock full of relationships and dialogue that tugs at your heart. Immediate re-read for me!

Marrying My Billionaire Boss pulled me in from the first scene. Who else but Ms. Lee can weave in kale juice, wardrobe decisions, a tablet, and a hot guy in a towel?

Nate and Evie are two of my favorite characters that I've read in a long time. Nate has been crushing on Evie from the start and each day solidifies that more than the last. He spends his time vying for her attention and dreaming up ways to try to get her to see him as more than just his boss.

Evie DOES notice Nate but respects the boss / employee ethical bounds. She's got a lot on her plate with ignoring Nate while delivering as his assistant and handling unexpected family drama ... and the auction and the events that kicks off ...

The dialogue is sassy, fresh, and heartwarming. Evie and Nate banter back and forth in a way that will make you wish you were her.

Familiar characters from previous books (although this is a standalone) ... Court, Justin, Barron and Yuna ... make the story richer.

If you're a fan of Ms. Lee or if you're looking for a GOODREAD and want to find a new author, download this book immediately ... but clear your calendar because you'll want to binge read.

I received an ARC. This is my honest review.

Actual rating 4.5 stars.Nate enters a bachelor auction to help one of his friends out, after all it should be okay right? The money is going to a good cause. Until he runs into his crazy ex who tells him she will bid whatever it takes to win him. Nate begs his assistant Evie to buy him, no matter what the cost he will pay for it. The only issue is that now they have to take the date to Las Vegas. The next morning they wake up married with no memory of how it happened.

I adored Nate. He was the perfect example of sweet and alpha. He has always liked Evie and tries his hardest to get her to notice him as more than just his boss. Evie is oblivious to how Nate feels about her, especially after a bad relationship she left before she started working for Nate so she definitely tries everything in her power to keep herself professional around him. That all starts to fly out the window when they wake up married to each other.

This was just a well written romantic comedy. It had great dialogue, some sexy scenes, and a dash of craziness. I loved how Nate treated Evie and did everything he could to make her happy. The side characters also added their own charm. This was my first book by Nadia Lee and it definitely won't be my last.

Nadia Lee is an author I have read in the past. I read her original Billionaire series and was totally hooked. But I hate serial books and duets, you won 't find that I have reviewed many of them on this blog. But she has a new series and this is book 2 in it, I did not read the 1st book but I loved this book and I cannot wait to read the next book.

First the important things - this book stands alone. It has a lead hero, Nate and a lead heroine, Evie and this book is their entire love story from beginning to a happy ever after end. Having never read book 1, I was never lost, in fact parts of this story seem to run concurrent with book 1.

I want to read book 3 because it stars the heroine's roommate, Kim and it sounds really good but it does not have much to do with this story.

Now about this story. It is awesome. There is no cheating or one night stands with anyone that is not the lead male and lead female in this story. However there are lots of flirting and teasing and driving each other crazy.
