The Boy

Avery is failing at being an adult and on the verge of collapsing when he meets a man who offers him the chance of a lifetime. Being able to let go of all his worry and stress? The promise sounds too good to be true and Avery knows he should run away. But Jace is everything he’s ever fantasized about. The words Daddy and baby boy hang between them. Erotic, enticing, and exciting.

The Daddy

Jace has been watching Avery for months, ever since he’d first set eyes on the shy and nervous young man. Finding out that Avery is killing himself working three jobs while going to school has Jace fighting his instincts to take control of the situation. Being a caretaking Daddy Dom Jace knows he has so much to offer Avery. If the boy is brave enough to accept what Jace is offering.

Baby Boy is the first book in the Daddy’s boy series by Athena Steller.

This book contains MM sexual content (men having sex with each other), light BDSM elements, Age Play, Daddy/boy relationship, ABDL, and age gap relations. This book is an exploration of a relationship between two (Male) consensual adults that are looking for love and acceptance. All characters are over the age of consent. No cheating or cliff hangers.

Each book in the Daddy’s boy series will concentrate on a new couple although the characters from other books will visit often.
The books can be read as standalone novels but for better enjoyment watching how the characters grow from book to book adds to the enjoyment of the series.

Each book in the Daddy’s boy series ends with an HEA although we do in a peek into the earlier relationships as they progress as the series continues.

Perfect comfort read (despite the BAD editing).

-----------------------

4.5 stars

This book needs some serious editing. So if you are bothered by spelling mistakes, bad grammar, and mixed up names, don’t read this book. Like how you’re was almost always spelled as your, Jace was suddenly named after the stuffed animal Jared, and some sentences just didn’t make a lot of sense.

But that being said, I did enjoy the story itself. I can overlook bad writing if I like the characters and the actual story. And that was the case here. There was an overall adorableness to Avery, and Jace was just so sweet to him, that I really liked this despite the many many mistakes.

I especially liked all the hurt/comfort, with Avery trying to work 3 jobs and go to school, who lived in a tiny apartment and who didn’t always have money for food. That story arc gets me every single time! A young man who has trouble taking care of himself, and the Daddy who will rescue him and take care of him, oh yeaaaah!

Jace has watched Avery for months when he’s come in for a cup of coffee at his favorite coffee shop. Avery looks tired and worn out, and Jace wants nothing more than to take the shy barista home to take care of him. And of course to call him Daddy and let Jace dress him in cute onesies.

Avery is struggling. Adulting is just so hard! When he meets sexy Jace, he isn’t sure what the older man would want with him, but it seems like Jace really is interested in him.

When Avery breaks down at a bus stop and Jace comes by, Jace promises himself that from now on Avery will have him to take care of him, so he picks up the boy and takes him home…

I’m always a bit sad when I find a book I like but it seems it’s not proofread, or edited at all. It’s not that much work to have someone else remove the spelling mistakes or to try to ‘fix’ certain sentences. But enough about that. I still enjoyed it and can’t wait to read more books in this series!

After this kind of books I always feel like I have to brush my teeth for an hour, it's like sucking a whole bag of candies. In a good way.
Jace is a very mellow Daddy Dom, he'll do anything not to scare off the boy he's chosen, so it takes a little while for a relationship to even happen and then it takes a little while for Avery to fully open up to him. However, it is not annoying in any way. The relationship is portrayed very delicately and yet does not get boring.
Once Avery gives in to his little self, he is almost constantly in that state, often you don't even notice when he is suddenly big again. But never for long.
Now overall a good book, not an outstanding one. Maybe good average? That may not do the book justice, but I've had better ... In any case unexciting and a nice read when you want to come down.

“I want you, Avery. I have for months. I’ve asked you out in my head over a hundred times. I want to wrap you up and take care of you. I want to take all your worries away and spoil you rotten. And I never want to see you cry again.” 😍

Qué libro más tierno!! Avery y Jace fueron maravillosos!

Muero por leer la historia de Caleb y Grant! Y la de Mitch, por supuesto.

2.5 why did I pick up this book stars! 🤨🙄
I don’t think I’m cut out for these “Daddy-Little” books.. this is my second one and it just weirded me out. 😳 In my defense it was in the “erotica” category in Kindle and that’s why I decided to read it; but there is nothing erotic about it, only cringey. I finished it out of curiosity .. but no more. I’m not reading any more books in this genre 😱😱 Recommended only to fans of this trope..

✨Reread January 2025✨

I totally blame this book for how critical I am of other ageplay stories because nothing has been able to sink its claws into my stupid little brain like Avery has. This has just the right amount of cute little time mixed with the horrors of being forced to participate in society as an adult and personally I just really love Avery as a character and how he interacts with ageplay and his daddy Jace. It’s honestly a fantastic introduction for anyone interested in seeing what ageplay books have to offer because Jace is teaching Avery about the different aspects of ageplay as the book goes along so it’s not like you need prior knowledge and they cover a lot of big aspects of the kink together but in a way I think is very palatable for newer folks. Like yeah it’s definitely not the peak of literature or editing or prose in any way shape or form but I love it god dammit. In conclusion I would wrestle a 20 foot crocodile in the middle of a busy highway whilst covered in bacon grease if it was required to save Avery’s life as he deserves all the happiness in the world I rest my case

This book was.... lazy.

You ever finish (or continue through a book) and feel like the author just half-assed all the details? All the nitty gritty shit? And the end of the chapters... I AM SO CONFUSED. why would it end in the middle of a scene?? Multiple times?? 👁️👄👁️

I guess we can all say that 2023 is not our year of reading so far (except for tal bauer 💜)

Adorable story, but needs better editing. English is not my second or even third language so some spelling or grammatical error doesn't really bother me. But this book has a bit too many errors that even I find distracting.

Can't wait for Mitch and Grant's story though!

This was a great age play story. Very typical, but somehow I didn't lose interest at all. Avery is a sweet 'perfect' Boy who just needs a Daddy to come and sweep him off his feet or more literally, into a binkie and diaper, which is just what Jace does.

I don't think there was anything I didn't like about this book. Definitely have to be in the mood for fluffy fluffison, but luckily I was.

Super enjoyed the kinks as well, but just a warning, it doesn't dance around them if you're not into Littles.

Proofreading needed!

This so could have had a higher rating if the author had just taken the time to actually add COMMAS and to proofread her work. Seriously, I had to stop and go back too many times to parse out the meaning of a sentence because there was no comma to indicate the pause. Also the author lacked the initiative to mark scene changes and time lapses so all of a sudden I was suddently in another character's head or one week later. Confusing.

It really is too bad because this is a wonderful story and start to the series, and the author got my KU cents, but lack of proofing is not acceptable. I like Daddy Dom Jace and Avery learning how to embrace his little side.

I loved this story a lot. Avery was so stinkin' cute without being TSTL, which is a feat in this genre for sure.

But the copy editing....sweet baby jesus on a cracker! It felt like a book that I might find on Wattpad! But nope, I checked, it was on Kindle.

There were two typos that made me literally lol:

....I know your smart but when it comes to personal relationships sometimes it easy to get wrapped up in our own insecurities.”

Now kinda I feel like a jerk pointing it out. But isn't it a little bit funny that someone is calling someone else smart with the wrong grammar? Just a little? Just me? Ok.

“Good boy.” Jace licked into Avery’s slit until his boy meowed then sucked him deep.

I meow regularly during sexy time. Lols.

5 stars for the story.

It was a sweet book the characters were okay (didn’t really connected with them) Cale and Averys relationship was cute and It was nice to see how well they worked out together, also their daddy/little dynamic ,but I was confused at so many points like it often happed that the scenes just ended abruptly and the editing just wasn’t it.

I really really love this series so far. This is the first one in the series but I read the 2nd book first.
Therefor I already got to know and love Avery and Jace. However it was great reading their own story and my love for them grew even more.
Avery really is such a cute boy. He is so freakin adorable and was so strong for so long and I am just really happy he found such a great Daddy in Jace.
As for Jace I thought him to be a little weird in the beginning because he knew the schedule of Avery and similar. However he turned out to be great. I love so much that you could feel in his action how much respect he had for Avery. He gave Avery all the time he needed and never put him under pressure. I think that’s what a good Daddy should be like.
Besides the two main characters we also get to know quite a lot about Mitch and gosh guys I can’t wait to read his book next. Mitch already stole my heart. That poor boy who is nearly working himself to death just for his father. I did love him in 2nd book already but with this book I just can’t wait to read his happy ending.
So you can already guess that makes this book so great for me are mainly the characters.
The story is good too but kind of the basic age play story. What I really liked about this story that while their relationship still went a little faster than normal, it was way slower then some of the other stories I read so far. I think they gave them a much more realistic feel.
At least I can only say that I absolutely love this series and can’t recommend it enough if you like age play books.

2.5 ⭐️ rounded up.

Not the best DD/lb book I’ve read. To be honest it felt like the author had quite a surface level understanding of the kink dynamic.

Jace was a walking contradiction, one minute he was patiently wayching Avery from afar for months and then it was 0-60. Claiming that he was an experienced daddy dom felt far fetched given how he acted.

I liked Avery as a character, you could see why being a little suited him so much. I wish we’d got a better understanding of his back story but we were just told things like his mum killer herself without any real emotional connection to it.

Don’t think I’ll continue with the series.

First time with this author. It was a good introduction the story line was believable but the dual POV in the same chapter will have you rereading to much for my liking. Don't get me wrong I love multiple POV but the way this author did it, it was hard to tell who was speaking.

On a good note I love the characters that we have seen so far and I'm looking forward to seeing everyone's HEA.

I don’t even like ageplay but I always end up giving 4-5 stars to books that have this specific kink in it 🧐

Anyway, this was an amazing story. Jace is such a good daddy and I’m so happy Avery’s life is getting better and he is doing what he always wanted to do thanks to Jace’s help and guidance.

So sweet it made my teeth hurt. And not in a good way

(I left a decent review on Amazon but here I am going to rant)

This is not a bad book. I repeat, this is not a bad book. And just in case anyone forgets at any point in time during this review, THIS IS NOT A BAD BOOK. But it's not a good book either.

Now I realize how that sounds considering how much I love and adore daddy kink. And having age play is like the icing on the cake for me but sis, this just wasn't it. And before I get into reasons why I didn't like this and rip it to shreds let me talk about the things that were okay.

Number one, it's pretty cute. There are some genuinely sweet moments in this book. For example, Avery and Mitch's playdate was adorable. Avery's little side was also cute. He and Jace were cute. And the kink was done respectfully.

.... that's all I got. Let's get into the bad stuff.

Who and what was Avery? He made no sense. I am trying my damndest to understand how a 20-something year old can work three jobs AND go to school AND pay bills AND keep an apartment and yet still be so inept at life. It makes no sense whatsoever. And while we're at it who was he? Do you know? Does anyone know? I don't think even Jace knows. I mean to be fair, we don't really know him either but Avery stood out to me. These characters were little more than cardboard cut out of each other. They existed and held space. That's about it.

Oh, and occasionally they boned. That wasn't good either. There are porns with better scrips.

This brings me to the dialogue. To say it was also a bit rough would take a level of tact I do not possess. It was cringy and there were times I was questioning if anybody really talks like that. The answer is hopefully not. Like Jace's overuse of baby boy. The endearment stopped being cute real quick.

Then there's the writing. Oh boy. Now, I know I'm not a writer and not just anyone can write a book, I get that. But I'd like to think that I have read enough books to have an idea of how this is supposed to work. For example, indie author or not, hire an editor! Because my good was writing not good. There's a story there for sure, just like there are decent characters in the wings waiting to be developed. But she doesn't take it anywhere. It's so stoic and robotic. It's almost entirely telling and zero showing.
Where are the dates where we can see them falling for each other? Their interactions with other people while the other is present so we know their affections for each other are not just because they're hot for one another. I wanted to see Avery through Jace's eyes and see Jace through Avery's eyes. I didn't want to be told about it. When you do that, it doesn't feel like a proper romance. Other than being a decent daddy and a knight in shining armor, I didn't get why Avery liked Jace. And other than being cute and helpless I didn't get why Jace liked Avery. Maybe that's all there was to their relationship but based on the intensity of the emotions that I was TOLD they felt for one another, I don't think that's right.

Last bit about the writing, I swear. This book is written in the third person but it goes back and forth between Jace and Avery's perspective. Cool, that's fine right? No. It just jumped without any thought or warning. It was really jarring and weird. Especially since the jumps would so often happen in the middle of a chapter or in the middle of a scene. There was no break in between and there was no mention as to who was speaking. You just have to figure it out as you read. That's not okay. I shouldn't have to struggle to know who's speaking. Just do it chapter by chapter or put their name up at least.

Look I know I said this wasn't a bad book and it's not, but god I was not feelin' this one. I can't even say I enjoyed it because too often I was just reading to read it. And I know this all sounds harsh, especially since I am pretty sure this is Athena Steller's first book (or a the very least it's her first time writing daddy kink) but that's not really an excuse anymore these days. I mean come on, at the very least hire an editor beta reader. They could have told you these things instead of readers!

And I know for someone somewhere out there, this will be their book. And that's great. There's a lot of good here. It just wasn't executed well.

TL;DR If you love daddy kink and ageplay, you're gonna adore this. But if you read half as much of the genre as I do to the point that your expectations are a little higher than most, it's a toss-up. 3 stars because I care enough to read the second book. I'm not going to pick it up any time soon but I'll get to it.

2.5 stars. Had the book been edited even a little bit, the rating would have likely been much higher.

This could have been a good story. Avery is in desperate need of someone to take care of him. Jace, twelve years older, wants a boy to take care of. The two of them together seemed perfect. And you know what? Maybe they would have been had there not been so many editing issues throughout this book. The use of YOUR every single time YOU'RE should have been used drove me nuts. But it wasn't just that. There are misspelled words, names used in the wrong places, names repeated sometimes six or seven times on one page, lack of punctuation or too much punctuation, zero spacing between head hopping... I could go on.

I can't recall the last time I read a book so poorly edited. It was distracting and gave me a headache. The only reason I kept going was because I was determined to see how it ended and I wanted to see more of Mitch, one of Jace's best friends. Unfortunately, Mitch's story isn't even the next one. Grant's is. And while I liked Grant well enough (another of Jace's close friends), I don't like his love interest. I know that could change but I have to ask myself if it's worth reading so many pages of what will likely be a ton of typos to find out.

As far as the story goes, I liked Avery, but I felt that he fell into his little role too easily, and there were too many coincidences as far as that was concerned . There's also being clumsy and there's being Avery. I really did like Jace. He was the perfect Daddy.

DNF @ 3% and here are 3 quotes to explain why~

1. He’d managed to get through his first year by eating ramen noodles the entire time and only drinking water from the fountain. He’d saved bottles that other students had thrown away and filled them with water from the bathroom. His roommate had found it gross and told everyone in the dorm, so Avery was ruthlessly taunted. It had been hell.

- It is gross. You can get a cheap water bottle from a dollar store and college’s often have events where you get swag like a water bottle for free. Wholly unnecessary to take used bottles out of the trash.

2. Avery side-eyed her. Jasmin was pretty, if you didn’t mind the goth look. Avery didn’t mind.

- Why does this line exist?? Feels judgmental for no reason.

3. Avery closed his eyes and accepted the embrace. It felt good to be touched. Even if it was from a woman and not sexual.

- Ah yes, because touch-starved, struggling college boys can only appreciate affection when it comes from someone they find attractive and not from a pseudo mother figure for comfort. I forgot that only sexual touch is valid 🙄

I have found this book to have represent a true and actually picture of the Daddy/Little relationship. I was so drawn not on to the two MC's but else the secondary characters as well. The author took the time to share very in depth dynamics of the daddy/ little relationship, while bring new level to the story with care for a little when sick and the need for the little to suckle his daddy nipples and cock. I find all these aspect to be both erotic and fascinating . This series holds true promise for anyone into this kink or wishing to explore this author writing.

Soft & Sweet

Jace has been looking for the perfect little forever. He thinks it might be Avery, the sweet barista at his coffee shop.

If you like Little Ollie you'll enjoy Baby Boy.

Abdl, DD/lb, kink.

I liked how sweet Avery was, and his interactions with Mitch and Calab. The secondary characters do a great job of making you want to come back for future books.

Some minor technical issues. It wasn't overly confusing, but there is a need for transitions between scenes.

4 stars. I was rather happy with this given nothing really happens plot wise. The focus of this story is really on the relationship between Daddy and boy. To be honest I can’t even remember what the Daddy’s job is. Their outside lives are barely explored. It’s more like an extended character study of them both.

Super sweet and soft. I prefer my daddy kink hard and gritty but I still really enjoyed this.

I absolutely loved the story but the editing and proofreading left a lot to be desired. There were so many instances where a lack of punctuation messed up whole sentences and dialogues that it got annoying at times. I stuck through it because I was kinda invested in the characters, but I wish if had been better edited.

I’ll be honest, i started to read this book because of a certain kink that intrigued me. I just finished Mad love by april jade which featured suckling and i was intrigued asf so i went down a rabbit hole and tried to find similar stories which led me here. This is a cute book, it’s very simplistic but at the same time not (iykyk 🤣). Read this if your interested in Daddy/Little. Anywho, stay hydrated, bye lovelies 💗, until next time.
