Tim Niederriter writes books of science fiction, fantasy, and combinations of the two for fun and novelty.
Tim is the son of two physicists who read him the Hobbit (repeatedly) at a young age. The math adds up. He loves both far-flung science fiction and epic fantasy of all kinds.
Tim hosts the Alive After Reading podcast and cohosts the Of Mooks and Monsters podcast, both available on timniederriter.com.
I would like to have seen more world-building. The world we see is fascinating, but we get mere glimpses and it's difficult to piece together the setting as a whole. There are humans and non-humans living together in (somewhat precarious) harmony, and I wanted to know more about the various factions. The two things that bothered me the most were the use of "Greek", "English", and "European" to describe languages on a world that is clearly not our own, and the ever-shifting point of view, making it confusing at times to tell who was doing what.

This book has 2 short stories with the same characters. They were interesting reads as we follow a gang of thieves who have a bit of extra oomph to make their thievery easier. The characters were a hoot and fun to read about. Not meant to be full stories so just enough info to make the stories easy to read. I did laugh a few times. And would love to read more about their antics.
As always, Tim has taken us to a mysterious world of wonder. His characters grab you from the start and his attention to detail allows the story to come to life. I look forward to the next “thieving “ journey.
