Born in Leeds, I lived a very normal life until I got bored one day and decided to travel the world. Since then I've worked on a Banana Plantation, cleaned ACDC's dressing room and been a professional clown.
I climbed to the bottom of the Grand Canyon and the top of Kilimanjaro. Nowadays you'll find me being a climbing frame for my two young children, working in a school, and renovating my home.

As far as this cycle of fairytale retellings go, I have definitely found my favorite. And not only because Beauty and the Beast is one of my favorites too.
Prince Fallon seems to be one young and reckless man with a reputation, not willing to step up one day to his father's place and become the king. Yet when the curse strikes again, he starts to learn about the web of lies and secrets surrounding his life, while his father is turned into a wild beast and his so called friends show their true loyalty. Only the mountain girl with the guts to tell him the truth seems to stand firmly by his side.
I was truly enchanted by the way Fallon's story was written, as well as the depiction of his personality - the cowardice, the party prince reputation, the hidden emotions, the truth of his heart when accompanied by Veda. And the girl is a perfect match for him, with her straight personality, intelligence, and the great bird she has as a friend and a mean of transport. I could very well connect with the story, pulled deep into it emotionally, and already dove into the next book to see how Fallon ascends to his role and what challenges he will have to face.

You all know the story of Beauty and the Beast, but did you ever wonder what happened after the fairytale ending? Well we know. Not all afters end up happily; sometimes, the real adventure starts much later...

For Prince Fallon it starts with a secret his own mother reveals.

"You're trying to tell me that Dad, my dad, was once a monster? Are you ok, Mom? Do you need to lie down or something?"

Unfortunately for the price, his mom is quite fine. Despite insisting his father is now a beast.

"I don't quite understand what you mean by beast.
"A Beast!" she said waving her hands in the air. "You know. Hairy body, big teeth, angry expression. He's an animal, a monster. He's not human anymore."

And it takes almost being mauled by the Beast his own father now is, for Prince Fallon to finally realize that his mother was being serious.

His reaction to it all?
A beast. An actual beast. This was seriously going to mess up my street cred.

And this is how Fallon ends up being forced to forget his devil-may-care ways and step up his regal responsibilities while trying to find a cure because a strange new evil is threatening the kingdom.
And with a beast in the castle, our Prince may need to depend on more than just his gorgeous looks to save his home.

Intriguing, action packed, fun and entertaining, King of Beasts is a modern take on the - What happened after the happily ever after of the famous Beauty and the Beast?
Ingenious! But ware the cliff at the end!

I'm off to read that sequel!

King of the Beast is the first book in the Beauty and the Beast arc by J.A. Armitage and Scarlett Koll.

Prince Fallon is the son of the Beauty and the Beast live a carefree existence and most of the people of Falls don't think he have what if takes to take is father places as King.

When the curse returns, turning his father back into a beast, Fallon must step-up and takes is responsabilities and help his mother find a way to turn his father back.

I really have love the first book in the serie and can't wait to read more. I have received an arc of ths book from the author.

I love the whole concept behind the Kingdom of Fairytales story universe, a collection of separate series by J.A. Armitage either alone or co-written with others and all based on the concept of telling what happened after the “and they lived happily ever after” in the fairytales most of us were raided in and adore. I’ve read most of these series to date and enjoyed all of them. Another benefit has been “meeting” new authors who I’ve then gone on to enjoy other books of.
Scarlett Kol certainly qualifies here, as the new Beauty and the Beast after-tale Kingdom of Fairytales series she’s co-authored with J.A. Armitage has gone off to a families start with King of Beasts (Book 1). The lead here, Prince Fallon - son of the classic Beauty and her former Beast - is perfectly drawn. A party prince forced to grow up, face real responsibility and handle pretty major crises when his dad’s Beast curse comes back. How he deals with both this and another strange new evil that arises to threaten the kingdom, makes for one heck of a tale. Action, adventure and yes the start of romance, this book has it all - and it’s all superbly portrayed and total fun. Highly recommended.

Great story!

Prince Fallon revels in his royal status. He spends money like it’s water and he wants to be adored. But there is one girl who is not impressed and I took an immediate liking to her. Her straightforwardness was refreshing, even to the Prince. When the King turns back into a beast, Fallon is initially only worried about his own reputation. Arrogant and selfish; I was afraid I wouldn’t like reading from the POV of a Prince so arrogant, but I did! It was wonderful to see him change. The situation forces him to change. He needs to face the truth. And that change in Fallon was very skillfully done, in a way that pulled me in and never letting me go. Fallon’s so-called friends, who were always there for the good times, to take advantage of him, where are they now? He now has to learn what is REALLY important. Who his REAL friends are. I really enjoyed this story!

Intense from the start! There was a lot of story packed into this novella. The curse hit hard and fast in this one. Monsters, mobs, magical beasts, secret hideaways, romance, forgotten lore, and even fairies. Fallon has not been painted in the most favorable light by his neighboring royals. He has quite a bit in common with his father's younger self, including being intrigued by a girl reminiscent of a younger Belle who thinks this spoiled prince just might have potential. In this book, his life get turned completely upside down. Everything he thought he knew is tossed. I'm excited to see where this one is headed!

This is part 1 of 4 in Fallon's story, so don't expect any type of resolution yet, his story's just begun

Surprisingly Satisfying

This story is so much better than I thought it would be. It is a true follow up to the traditional Beauty and the Beast. Prince Fallon shows remarkable growth just within this first story. Looking forward to the next installment.

After the ever after

Loved the book but hate that it is a cliffhanger. Too bad because I will never purchase the rest of this series.

Look, this was the best surprise in the Kingdom of Fairytales. In the beginning of my read, I was thinking "oh my Lord, I will hate this part of the series, I won't like Fallon at all". Boy was I wrong. I can't wait for that character development! Great start of Beauty and the Beast's part. Without giving any spoilers, I love how the story is being portrayed, in a way that it normally isn't. I'm very very happy with this book and can't wait to read more about Fallon!
