Born in Leeds, I lived a very normal life until I got bored one day and decided to travel the world. Since then I've worked on a Banana Plantation, cleaned ACDC's dressing room and been a professional clown.
I climbed to the bottom of the Grand Canyon and the top of Kilimanjaro. Nowadays you'll find me being a climbing frame for my two young children, working in a school, and renovating my home.

So I love a good fairytale retelling but this set eighteen years AFTER their happily ever after, is even better then what I was expecting.
The Kingdom of Fairytales offers an edge of the seat thrill ride in an all new and sensational way to read.
After reading that who wouldn’t want to jump right in and read this? I love the storyline, the open mic night ( didn’t have those in Cinderella!!) and I love Halia our female mc who turns out to be strong and left with a tough decision to make! I am so looking forward to reading the next book!

Not sure where this is going, but it is good so far. Halia and Tia are orphans who have aged out of the orphanage and now work as maids at a boarding house. Halia has a gift for writing and singing songs that Tia encourages her to use. She also has a controlling boyfriend who does the opposite. When Tia convinces her to go to a demon run club for open mic night she reluctantly agrees and is pleasantly surprised by the owner, Lorenzo, and her reception on the stage. But there are dark forces at work in Arcadia and Halia has a secret that could get her killed.

Stay tuned for part 2. I was given an advanced copy of this book by the authors. My review is voluntary.

I received an ARC of this book in exchange for an honest review. :)

Queen of Song is the first book in a series called Kingdom of Fairytales, which is a Cinderella re-telling. So far, despite the fact that the main character, Halia, is poor, the story doesn't sound much like Cinderella to me! This series has 4 books though, so maybe by the end I'll draw more similarities. Or maybe I just don't remember much about Cinderella!

Anyway! Halia and her best friend Tia are maids at Madam's Boarding House, a place for supernaturals to stay and chill. Halia hates her job but figures her only ticket out of there is her douchy boyfriend Victor, who has money but is annoying and controlling. On top of that, Halia has some kind of curse (she is not sure what it is) which forces her to see a Fae every other day to remove the gold from her eyes. If people see the gold in her eyes, they will freak out, so she tries to keep it on the down-low- despite not really knowing what it means!

Halia dreams of being a singer, but has no confidence that she actually CAN be one, despite Tia always encouraging her. After some prodding by Tia, she sings at a bar owned by a demon (whom she immediately feels attracted to) and everyone loves her! The book concludes with her feeling damn good about herself.

The only thing I didn't like about Halia was how quickly she became judgmental of other people's singing. She has no confidence, yet thinks she is the greatest vocalist to ever grace the stage? It's kind of weird to me. Despite this, I enjoyed the story and am interested to see what happens next!

Halia and her best friend share a room at the boarding house where they work. To make their work days go faster Halia sings in the halls while they are cleaning the rooms. The guest at the boarding house likes to hear her sing so they cover the halls just to hear her sing. Halia is very shy with her singing, she doesn’t like singing in front of an audience. Halia doesn’t think she is very good even though her best friend tells her everyday how good she is.

Halia doesn’t believe that she could make a living with singing she just dreams of a day when she can walk away from the boarding house. She hopes that her boyfriend will ask her to marry him. Halia’s boyfriend is sort of a control freak. He wants things his way and has an idea of how a person should act and behave and live. Halia does not agree with him but she believes that he is her best hope of getting out of the boarding house.

Her best friend tricks Halia into going to open mic night at this bar. Halia is nervous about singing in front of a crowd but goes ahead with it anyone. Everyone at the bar really enjoys Halia’s singing. Halia would like to take the job but she is afraid that her boyfriend may not like the idea. If Halia is to live her own life the way she wants then she must stand up to and face her boyfriend. Can Halia face her boyfriend? Does she have what it takes to make her dreams come true?

Queen of Song is a great little introduction into a brand new world of Cinderella, a Cinderella re-telling. Queen of Song is a very enthralling and enchanting story that will pull you in from the first page. The twist on the Cinderella story in Queen of Song is great and works so well. I can’t wait to dive into the next story Heiress of Melody for more in this fairy tale world of Halia’s Cinderella re-telling.

If you like the fairy tale re-telling stories then I believe that you will fall in love with Cinderella’s Queen of Song. One click your copy now to begin this enchanting adventure.

Sweet, innocent, and yet powerful spinoff for Cinderella, one of the most beautiful classic fairytales.
Halia, an orphaned girl with strange eyes, is working as a maid under Madam Fontaine at the boarding house, together with her childhood friend Tia. Or more like slaving, bullied and humiliated at every possible time. Also Halia's boyfriend Victor treats her as possession, a subservient girl without opinion. Only when the opportunity rises to escape and pursue her dreams of becoming a singer after meeting Lorenzo, a demon owner of the Daydream bar, Halia starts to understand the power of confidence and self-respect.
Since season six (Fallon, my most favorite still), the level of these miniseries was set very high, and I enjoy every bite of these lightning fast fairytale stories. Halia is yet another unique heroine, soft, passionate, caring, forgiving, and with a power that can compel, manipulate, and even destroy when misused. Now starting to explore her gift, it's time to shine and soothe the soul with some beautiful songs. Pity the pages cannot sing the melody as well..

The cover:
I think the cover helps with you imagination. It is sober and rich at the same time. I love the simplicity of it and suits the storyline.

The story:
The book was amazing I read it in one go and could not stop reading. At first I thought it was just another cinderella retelling. That is soo not true, yes there are elements of it but it is also completely different. Many things went different then I thought it would and that was the biggest element that kept me reading. The girl in this story is a classic girl doubting herself but she knows she is different. This first book gives an impression of what you can expect in the next books. I really recommend this book and I am going to start book 2 fast now.

I received this book as an ARC in exchange of my honest review!

The essence of the Cinderella tale, in a traditional fairytale town bustling with magic, sprinkled with surprisingly modern fashions and club scene. This musical retelling draws as much inspiration from contemporary versions as the original. The characters are vividly drawn; the stage well set. Arcadia has been alluded in earlier books are being one of the most magical lands in the kingdom. And it is, but not all magic is good and recently there has been an influx of the less desirable type. Meanwhile Halia has an expensive secret to keep that could kill her and the Queen has gone missing.

Lots of interesting threads and possibilities in this one. Cinderella's season is off to a good start.

I was gifted this box set by the author as an ARC. This is a great story of family, friendship, love, mystery and suspense all wrapped in one! Two orphans are on their own once they reach the age of 18, and have to figure out how to make it on their own. While learning what being an adult is all about, they find their world is rapidly changing and not for the better! They must find a way to fix this, and along the way they find love, deceit, and MAGIC!
I loved this box set! The first book I literally could not put down! It was pretty much the same with the next three books, because I was in suspense. I had to know what happened next!
If you want to find out what happens AFTER Happily Ever After, I would definitely recommend giving this box set a try!

Did not expect that ending. Halia grew up in an orphanage and has one friend, Tia. They are still best friends and work together. But there is something wrong with Halia. Since she was young something happens to turn her eyes gold, and she has to have someone draw feelings from her for if her eyes go totally gold she has been told she will die. But is this the case. She has recently been told that she has magic and she will know when to use it. Something is happing in the Kingdom, evil approaches and she might be the solution to stop it. But how? Excited to see a new twist in this Kingdom of Fairytales series. Unlike the other's in this series Halia wasn't raised in a palace but instead an orphanage until she aged out and moved to a boarding house. She was blessed with an amazing voice but a shy soul. With her best friend's, Tia, pushing and support, she sings at an open mic night which boost her confidence. But will she continue to shine or hide in the shadows like she has done most her life? Something evil is going on in the kingdom and Halia's voice might be the key to unlocking it. I can't wait to read the next book in the series. Check out this Cinderella retelling.

Halia and Tia grew up in a orphanage and left together at the age of 18. They live and work together at Madam’s Boardinghouse. Secrets and mystery surrounds Halia and she has a amazing singing voice. Tia talks her into singing at Daydream a club owned by a demon named Lorenzo which changes her life.
Dark things are happening in their Kingdom and what will happen makes Halia determined to find out what. This is a short story and the first in a series. I can’t wait to read the next. This is a retelling of Cinderella with a twist.

Halia was raised in an orphanage with her friend Talia. Kicked out of the orphanage at age 18, they feel lucky when they afe given jobs at an inn. The female innkeeper is a mean woman who treats the two unfairly. Halia writes sings in her head and sings softly to herself and Talia to feel better about herself and her situation. You have the beginning of the story here, read the book to see how it ties into Cinderella. I was given a free copy of this book at my request and this is my honest review.

This quick short read is a great beginning for this series. The authors did an amazing job building this world and its characters. Halia is talented but lacks self-esteem. Her best friend Tia, knows most of her secrets but they are yet to discover another one, one that may explain her heritage. The queen is missing, and danger has come to Arcadia. If Halia doesn’t find some courage soon Arcadia will be overrun, and evil will prevail. The race to find the queen is on and I can’t wait to read what happens next.

I loved this intriguing short story in a great new series! I enjoyed the interesting characters, with my favorites being, Halia and Lorenzo. Can a quiet, shy, hide in the shadows, kind of girl find her strength and confidence to embrace the special gift she was born with? Will she soar or remain in the shadows? Lucky for her, her best friend Tia is encouraging and kinda bold! What a great friendship they have! This book has action, danger, fae, friends, demons, sprite, goblin, soldiers, magic and twists and turns.

5/5 Stars

This was an intriguing novel. It follows two girls who are trying to make a better life for themselves. One seems tied to magic, although she isn't sure how yet.

I loved how fast paced it was. It is also a relatively short book so your attention doesn't stray too far. It definitely leaves you on the edge of your seat and I want more now!

Disclaimer: I voluntarily reviewed an ARC of this thanks to the author.

Surprising Twist

This story has some of the classic elements of Cinderella. I like that it is not following the exact pattern of the first books of this series. Halia is not a foundling and raised by royalty, but a true orphan who is now struggling to make a life for herself. If course, the golden eyes are there, and evil times are coming to the kingdom. This will be an entertaining series

What a wonderful tale with such fascinating characters. Two orphan girls, one so forthright and one so unassuming yet she sings like an angel. Secrets abound and this book is enjoyable to read and I would highly recommend it to those of us who like to dream of better days and ways. I received this book as an ARC and happily reviewed it.

I really liked this story. It sets up an interesting place and the addition of a fairy tell as the backbone made it all that much better. i liked the characters and the hints of what might come that kept me guessing to the end and needing the next book. I really liked Halia and cannot wait to see who she really becomes in the series.

An intriguing introduction to a new series. I liked the twist on the fairytale of Cinderella though this one seems a bit darker. The vivid imagination of the authors was definitely at work with this exciting story. I really hated her boyfriend and I hope she and her friend have a bright future in this series. Great storytelling

While I have enjoyed every tale in this series that I have read, I have found some of them harder to get into and this was one of the harder ones. However once I did get into it, took about 2 chapters, I have thoroughly enjoyed reading Queen of Song and would recommend it to others without hesitation.

I received this Arc in exchange for an honest review.

Not what I expected having Cinderella in the title but was pleasantly surprised. Totally independent story with just hints of the classic tale we know and love.

As first in line, this book sets the scene, not much action so to speak but has laid the foundation of much more to come.

After finishing this book, I literally couldn’t wait for the next, checking my emails a few times a day.
The wait is over...

Enthralling start to the next series in the Kingdom retellings. Halia’s story is a quick but exciting and intriguing read that is slightly different than the other series’s. She is from a more humbly beginning. I can’t wait to see where this story takes us.

An enjoyable short story vaguely based round Cinderella. I will be checking out the rest of the Cinderella series and maybe the main series too. The idea is that you can read a chapter a day, a boon a week for a year so might do that :)
