West has grown up in an orphanage and has gone through many hardships. He falls for Maggie, but his own enemies put her life at higher risk. Along with the earthquakes and madness which spreads like wildfire, he also has to empower himself against those enemies. No matter how hard his mission is, he stands by Maggie's side and does everything possible to protect her. Will he help her to solve the mystery in the mountain or will the whole town be doomed to a dreadful fate?

Everything seems to be going against them. The madness which felled Maggie's first husband now threatens the young woman, her new lover, and everyone around the territory. Will Maggie and West find a way to save the town, and protect themselves and what they love?

This book has a great story-line and will keep you entertained. It has everything good in a historical western book. If you like a book of many pages, this book is for you; if you enjoy a good gunfight, this story has many; if you want a bit of romance, it’s in this book; and, if you want some fantasy, mystical feelings and mystery, you definitely will find it in the story. I loved Maggie for her strength; I loved West for his honesty; and, I give loving hugs to Manuel for his dedication and faith. I highly recommend this book for anyone wanting to spend time with heroes and faith in God and friends

The Dark Mystery

Jack and Maggie have a boy named Manuel they live on a mountain and Jack mines the mountain for gold. Except he has hit a gas leak. Now the mine is making him crazy. He finally became so sick he dies.

Maggie tries to go into the mountain but gets scared and decides to seek help. She meets the sheriff and asks him if he knows anyone who would partner up. On the way out she meets West.

The story is long, I can’t go into a lot of detail because there are many characters.

There are killers, Indians, killer bears, deer that attack.. poisonous gases that make people see things that aren’t there.
But it’s a great western story. I enjoyed reading this book!

Another great historical western by Austin Grayson who once again brings strong characters and weaves an entertaining story line. He does a fantastic job building the story and pulls you in with his descriptive writing and detailed scenes. He brings a bit of everything to the story .. romance, action and mystery and delivers an interesting and emotional story. I enjoyed reading and loved the ending!

I was in awe!

This is my absolute favorite from this author! It was one of those books that I had to tell myself to read slowly because I didn’t want it to end. I absolutely feel in love with the combination of the usual Wild West theme and then a lot of mysticism and folklore. I loved the tenuous relationship between native tribes with white settlements and the coloring of the gold rush. It was intense and brutal. There were a lot of loss and love, a combination of opposites in different intensities. It was simply, absolutely amazing!

Packed with action as well as romance and a bit of excitement.

Excellent reading for your enjoyment. Mystery and the folklore of the Indians add to the story. The mystery is explained about the happenings in the beginning thanks to West. Hallucinations add to the action. Is it paranormal or is it real? Maggie and West make a great couple and add Manuel and you have a great team to help make this more enjoyable. I do know it is hard to put this story down as is all I have read by Austin Grayson.

Wow, hang onto your hats once you start this story!! It is full of twists, turns, action galore, ghosts, a bit of romance, intrigue, drama, adventure, and more!!! I have to give Austin Grayson credit for taking a lot of different story tangents and unwinding them into an ending that took care of each and every one! I love how the characters entered the story and the way they grew and developed during it. The other thing that I really loved and was impressed with was the main characters and especially the good ones showing their faith in God and praying!!! Also I loved how their prayers got answered during the story too. Truly an enjoyable read!! Warning though, you will not want to put it down until you are done with it!!

An AG. Wyoming Western Action Adventure (TDMOTHM ) (AHWAB)

AG. has penned a Wyoming western action adventure titled, "The Dark Mystery of the High Mountains" which begins just outside of Landers, Wyoming where a miner, his wife and adopted son were trying to mine for gold. The man went crazy and died. On the plains below the mountain a rider approaches a covered wagon with four men who have murder the man and murder and raped the woman. The two meet in Landers, form a partnership and look for a mining partner. Tus is an excellent read for the genre.....DEHS

Austin Grayson just keeps getting better and better, not only with his terrific writing abilities, but with his stories and wild imagination on western stories! The characters of this story, they have you really wondering if the good guys are going to get the bad guys they go after! The roles that these western women play are so much grander than some of his others! It's a very much read, you won't want to stop when you get started. So grab your pillow and blanket and some thing to drink and snack on cause it's like a movie, you won't believe in what happens in the middle and the end!

A good story

This has good characters and some good action. I thought the story moved a little slowly in the beginning and then again toward the end but it most definitely kept my interest throughout. I did like the theme of America being a melting pot of people and the characters who portrayed that.

Are they real or hallucinations?

As you read this book, you will be changing your mind over and over. It was a great story and fun at the same time. One question I have is what history is this story based on?

Great blending of cultures in the old west.

I very much enjoyed the story. A mix of reality and the surreal. Unfortunately, I was distracted by the numerous typographical errors. For me, much like tripping over cracks in the sidewalk during a very pleasant stroll.

Very good book

This is a different kind of western romance. It was a little difficult getting started until all the characters were introduced. But I finally figured who’s who and the story became more interesting.
