Eve Miranski has spent weeks trying to find a killer who's roaming free in Cutthroat. She's also working hard to protect her battered heart from two alpha cowboys who aren't making it easy. Yeah, two. After they meet at a holiday party, Shane Nickel and Finch Anderson have made it clear to Eve they're interested in one thing. Her.
He might be the son of a movie star, but Shane Nickel's content living out of the spotlight. When he meets the stubborn detective, his protective instincts kick in. He should let her go, find a woman whose work doesn't require a gun and handcuffs (although he can think of some fun uses for the handcuffs) and not tasked with hunting down a murderer. His heart—and other parts of him—want Eve.
As a forest ranger, Finch Anderson spends more time in the wilderness than in town. That suits him just fine, until he meets Eve and everything changes. He wants her, wants everything he never thought he could have, but how can a felon and a feisty detective get along?
The men's doubts won't matter when new evidence in the Erin Mills case is discovered and the identity of the murderer is revealed. The only thing they'll have to worry about is keeping Eve alive because the killer won't be caught without a fight.

Shy ~ Finally, the secret we've all been waiting for has been revealed.
Vanessa Vale fans who have been reading her Wild Mountain Men series have seen this story slowly unfold over the course of these books. From the very beginning when a character was murdered, there was suspicion, misdirection, and lots of questions. One moment you were suspecting one person then focus was shifted to another when more details were revealed. But it all finally came out in the open in this book and it was a great revelation. I not only felt it was well done in terms of the writing, but I loved who did the revealing and how it all tied up.
I got the usual steamy scenes I expect from this author. I got the likeable characters both main and secondary. I even got to see characters from the previous books since this is a small town.
But what I really enjoyed so much about this series was the way the stories might have been about different couples, but it was all connected with the background storyline.
That gave this whole series a different but really exciting feel.
this was the perfect series to hit my end of year reading goal! The stories are short, fun, have a little mystery and a lot of spice. I don’t often read MFM but these were great.
Get ready for the answer to the question that has been burning through out this entire series! Who killed Erin Mills?!? I'm not going to answer it, you've got to read the book, but I will say, be prepared to be blown away! I was totally shocked. I knew it was coming, knew that they'd find the culprit, but I had no clue who it was, and I was totally not prepared for the final twist!!!!!
Eve is a tough girl, who can take care of herself. But this take no bull detective has a soft side that has been hurt by those that should have protected her, and loved her. To keep it from happening again, she keeps mostly to herself, taking no chances, letting no one in. But Shane and Finch are hard to say no to, especially when they know exactly what to say to get around her defenses!
Shane and Finch both have tragic pasts that have left their mark. Those pasts could have ruined everything, but these guys know what they want, and will do anything to make it happen. And Eve is the one.
This was a beautiful love story about seizing life's second chances, moving past heartache, and finding where you are meant to be. And then there is an explosive mystery, danger, and intrigue! I could not put this book down, because I just had to find out....who done it! Totally a must read!
This story starts off with Poppy and Eve talking about Poppy's upcoming party that night. Eve is the detective that is investigating Erin Mills murder from the first book. Well, Poppy went out to do some errands, and Eve stayed at her house to get ready. Well, while she was there, she heard someone breaking in, and she took them down at gunpoint while in lingerie. Well, those two men are actually Shane and Finch. Shane is actually Poppy's brother, and Finch is there to help Shane pull a birthday prank on Poppy. After that, Shane and Finch are hooked and want more of Eve, but she is hesitant because of her last relationship. She also discovers that Finch served ten years in prison, but when she heard it was to protect his friend who was being harassed she understood. Eventually, she gives in and gets with them. Then, just as everything is going well, she finds evidence in Shane's room that he could be Erin Mills' killer. After a closer look, it turns out that the killer was actually Shane's dad, Eddie Nickels. It turns out he promised Erin a role in a movie, and when he didn't deliver, she threatened to blackmail him, considering he started sleeping with her when she was 16. That is what got her killed. In the end, everything worked out with Eve, Shane, and Finch, and Erin finally got justice

Book number four in the Wild Mountain Men series will be a combination of a new relationship, one between Cutthroat Police Detective Eve Miranski, Shane Nickels, and Fitch Anderson. While this story might be read as a stand-alone, it will have many people from the previous three books, and also plenty of mention of the unsolved murder of Erin Mills--an ongoing case in Cutthroat. Since this is the last story in the series, it will unravel the mystery, the motive, and the murderer of Erin Mills.
Eve Miranski is good friends with Poppy Nickels and will be staying at her house during the Winter party hosted by Poppy. While Poppy is outside checking on preparations, Eve will be inside changing for the party. When she hears noises downstairs and comes upon two men breaking into Poppy’s home, she will grab her gun and handcuffs to arrest them—while only wearing underwear. The men don’t fight her, but what a surprise when Poppy comes into the scene—of her friend, her brother and his friend. That will set this tale in motion. It doesn’t take much for Shane and Fitch to know they want Eve and pursue her—but she has been hurt, and avoids relationships. What will it take for these two men to change her opinion and give them a chance?
“We could start with a no-strings sex. If that was how she wanted to play it, to keep her heart out of it for now, that worked. Once we were in her bed, we could take our time and show her how real men treated a lady. To prove that we wouldn’t hurt her. That we were playing for keeps.”
Eve will leave them at the party and hide after they have an intimate encounter, but she is overwhelmed by the emotions, the raw sex-appeal of the three of them together, and the chemistry is more than she can handle. But what happens when she is on her way to Poppy’s the next day after a meeting, and runs off the road? Poppy will call Shane to rescue Poppy, but the men won’t take her to Poppy. Instead, they take her to Finch’s ranch, and they will continue what they started the night before.
“They might be two men who wanted me, but they were two different men. Unique in their own way. Yet both of them were attracted to me. Were eager to satisfy me.”
The story is mostly concentrated on the new relationship between Eve, Shane, and Fitch, but also has some flashbacks to the past. Eve will share with them about her reluctance to become involved with a man because of her ex-Chad and his abusive ways. She will learn a secret about Fitch, and that will set off alarm bells. The story is about learning to put the past behind you, accept that sometimes bad things happen to good people when they are trying to do the right thing and that happiness is worth taking a risk.
The murderer of Erin Mills will be caught; the town will be shocked but relieved to learn that a killer is no longer running loose, and Cutthroat has a new triad couple with Eve, Shane, and Fitch. There are explicit sex scenes that include ménage. If you are not already on Ms. Vanessa Vales’ newsletter list, you need to take advantage and join—there are bonus scenes for each book in her newsletter.
*I received this book as a gift in exchange for my honest opinion.
Oh. My. Holy Mother of OMG!!!! What a way to wrap this series up!!! I had my suspicions, but...WOW!!!!! Ok, I have to try REALLY hard to write this without spoiling it for you.......sigh....
Eve, the detective working on the Erin Mills case, has been trying her hardest to not only solve the case, but move forward in her life. That's one of the main reasons she keeps her head down, dresses down and keeps everything feminine down...she just doesn't want the attention. Man is she in for a rude awakening, but she made a mistake that has caused her to receive a LOT of attention....from two hot and hungry cowboys!
Finch is a local cowboy who runs the family ranch. He's also the local cowboy who spent months in jail for assault. And even though it doesn't matter, it's not for what you would think. So finding someone who can trust and love him has been hard, so he hasn't tried. That is until is literally stumbles in to Eve.
Shane is the son of the local superstar actor. But just because his dad is famous, it doesn't mean he's wanted anything from him. In fact, he's spent most of his life away from the limelight, focusing on his own career, all while still looking after his baby sister. So isn't it ironic that while attending his sisters annual birthday party, he runs in to Eve. And the rest is up hill from here.
This is about as far as I can go in my review without gives anything away. Let's just say that the way we find out "who killed Erin Mills" is absolutely jaw dropping and will have you picking your jaw up off the floor. Oh...and I'll say one more thing.....Eve is 100% BADASS CHICK!!!!
This is my last Vanessa Vale book - I cannot stand them anymore and the steamy scenes are not fun either. (Although I will probably read the series she wrote with the wolf shapeshifter lady because I know that at least Renee Rose writes better character and plot and steamy fun sex scenes).
This one was entirely boring, but at least we found out the murderer.
I was happy the heroine was the policewoman that's been episodic in all the other books, but I was so disappointed when instead of the fun character she was in the other novels she was suddenly transformed into the same old boring heroine that the author seems to enjoy to write. No personality what so ever.
Also, the final scene where they discuss spanking... look, spanking is a thing that it can be hot and fun to some, even when it's done in a harder way as a punishment, not just funishment. But when she says no, and we know she was abused and hit by her ex.... and the one suggesting the spanking is a guy who was also abused by his father... how does that make it different and better? And they were not suggesting spanking as funishment, but to teach her not to go confront a murderer on her own - which I agree was so stupid and out of character of her, when she was the best police these books have seen so far.
Rolling my eyes but I am at least happy I read all Vanessa Vale books for free on Audible Plus Catalog and I did not waste my money on them.
Eve is a detective who meets Shane and Finch under the most unlikely and humorous circumstances and from that moment these friends knew that Eve is the woman they need to complete them and now they just have to persuade her.
There is no denying the chemistry between but after what transpired in her last relationship, she isn’t ready to repeat the experience with one man let alone with the complications of two. She is about to learn that these two men are nothing like her ex and as the danger escalates around her investigation into the unsolved murder she is about to find out how determined her men are to protect her and keep her safe.
I really enjoyed how Eve, Shane and Finch helped each other heal from the past and finally getting the answers we needed regarding Erin’s death.
Mountain Danger by Vanessa Vale was a book with suspense, danger and plenty of heat. A well written story that will definitely keep you on the edge of your seat and not to mention keep you fanning yourself through out this story. This was book 4 in the Wild Mountain Men series and well worth the wait, in this book you will meet two incredibly hot alpha cowboys and one incredibly strong and sexy officer. This book had a touch of something for everyone, also this story will answers the questions we've all been waiting for. I want to share so much more but do not want to give anything away so I will just leave you with this, I absolutely loved this book and I highly recommend it. If you love a great story with plenty of heat, great characters and a thrilling storyline you will enjoy this book.
The ending we have been waiting for You will not be able to put this book down. From the endearing steaminess as these three make their way toward a HEA that is perfect for them, to the need to know who the killer is you will be enthralled from the very first chapter. Neither the taming of this wild broken woman with a soft gooey center or the capture of the killer will go easy, but it will be worth the effort in the end. This is a fantastic conclusion to a wonderful series and I can’t wait to see what the author brings to us next.
This is the 4th book in the series but it can be read as a stand-alone. Eve meets Shane and Finch at a party and both men know instantly Eve is the one for them. Eve is on the hunt for a killer but sparks fly when she meets Shane and Finch. Will she let her battered and bruised heart find love with them or will the killer try to end her life first? Fast-paced read with loads of drama suspense and amazing steam and intense chemistry. I was hooked from beginning to end. I loved it!
Mountain Danger by Vanessa Vale was the final book the in Wild Mountain Men series. In book 4, this is Eve, Finch and Shane's story. A perfect ending to a great series. I've been waiting to see who the killer is and was shocked!! I never suspected it at all. Eve, Finch and Shane are great together. Loved this whole series and it will be one I read over several times!!
Finally, we found out who the murder is. Vanessa kept us on our toes throughout the Wild Mountain Men series. She didn't disappoint with the ending either. Shane, Eve and Flinch's story will get you all hot & bothered.
Well she did it again Vanessa Vale wro tut e another good one. Hated to see the series end. Warning the language is very sexual. But well worth the read.
I "read" the Wild Mountain Men Complete Boxed Set (audible). The books were intriguing, suspenceful, and full of romance. Each love set was determined to protect their mate and love them with devotion. The narration was great.
If you liked Bridgewater County, you don’t want to miss the wild mountain men of Cutthroat, Montana! This complete boxed set collects all four Wild Mountain Men novels.
Book 1: Mountain Darkness Kit Lancaster is The One. Me and Donovan have always wanted her. We had one night, but then she left Cutthroat, Montana—and us—behind. Now she’s back, and the the woman of our dreams, of every dirty fantasy, is mixed up in murder. We’ll get our second chance and make it right. Make her ours. We also have to find a killer.
Book 2: Mountain Delights Hailey’s a ski racing champ. Until she wiped out last season. Then she meets Lucas, who knows firsthand how bad things can happen. Lucas wants me to join them in their bed sport. Turns out, Hailey’s ready to play. We’re all in. Until my piece of sh*t estranged dad admits to the killing of Lucas’s sister. How can we make it work—and survive—with a murderer roaming Cutthroat?
Book 3: Mountain Desire Being a child genius might have made Sam a doctor by twenty-two, but her world is scalpels and scrubs, not silk and seduction. When Mac and Hardin find out she needs tutoring between the sheets, they volunteer for the job. When they discover Sam might be targeted by a murderer, their protective instinct reaches a new level when Hardin discovers he might be related to the killer.
Book 4: Mountain Danger Eve Miranski is trying to find a killer who’s roaming free in Cutthroat while protecting her battered heart from two alpha cowboys. After they meet at a holiday party, Shane Nickel and Finch Anderson have made it clear to Eve they’re interested in one thing: her. When the identity of the murderer is revealed, the only thing they’ll have to worry about is keeping Eve alive.
Vanessa Vane has written a 5-star book that will have you from the first page to the last page. Eve is one of two detectives who are working on a murder case that has turned cold. Poppy is Eve's best friend and is having a party and after work, Eve goes to Poppy's to get ready. Eve has just gotten out of the shower when she hears some noise downstairs, there are 2 male voices and one of them says Poppy is going to get it now. Eve sneaks downstairs with her gun and handcuffs. She catches the two men by surprise and tells them not to move. She walks up to one of them and gets him on the floor and put the handcuffs on him. Poppy comes in and starts laughing and her brother Shane asks her to get Eve to stop. Poppy tells Eve that the men are her brother Shane and his best friend Finch. Both Shane and Finch feel an attraction to Eve but she doesn't want anything to do with them. She has been hurt in the past and has sworn off men for now. Shane and Finch get Eve to spend some time with them and she agrees to start seeing them. Eve is at Shane's house and both men have gone to work. Eve has gotten out of the shower and something catches her eye and she finds a camera in bedroom pointed at the bed. She thinks that Shane has taped the three of them together, she also finds the recorder and 100's of tapes. She takes them to her house and looks through them and she sees Erin Mills, she is the young girl who was murdered. She looks through more of the tapes and sees a lot of women and their faces but not the man's face but she does notice something that tells who the man is. Can Eve get past the old hurts and let Shane and Finch in? Can Shane and Finch prove to Eve they won't ever hurt her? This was a wonderful book and I would recommend it to anyone. I received an ARC of this book for my voluntarily and honest review.
Mountain Danger is the fourth book in the Wild Mountain Men series, and while the romance stands alone, the overarching plot spans all four books. Eve is one of the detectives on the Erin Mills murder, but as the case goes cold, Eve can concentrate on relaxing a little. Shane and Finch know Eve is theirs as soon as they meet her, but they’ll have more than just her walls to conquer. Will Eve ever find the murderer and can she open her heart for love?
Ohhhh I was so super excited for this book since the first book in the series! I wanted to know more about the mysterious Eve, and absolutely loved her romance! Eve, Shane, and Finch were a dynamic couple, full of passion, past hurts, trust issues, chemistry, and love! Shane and Finch help show Eve everything that she’s been denying herself by being persistent, putting her first, being alpha and protective, but also letting her be the amazing warrior that she is. I loved that neither men were perfect, each had their own past issues, but both had the focus and heart to keep Eve first. Eve grew to be confident in her own abilities, but she has some deep scars from her past. The mystery of the murderer and motive from this series has finally been revealed, but I don’t want to give anything away. Except dang!! I might have guessed the who, but not the why! So good! I highly recommend this series, and really anything by Ms. Vale! I look forward to seeing what she’ll come up with next!
Holy cow! I can’t believe who did it! Ha! You won’t get any spoilers from me. This book 4 gives us all the answers, which the biggest is “who killed Erin Mills?”
Through the series, there have been false confessions, families betrayed, and secrets! Lots of secrets! This book will answer those lingering questions, and...you will finally get to find out who killed Erin Mills!
Finch and Shane are another set of friends looking for that perfect third person to share their life with! Imagine their surprise when they meet Eve, arresting them for breaking and entering...In her bra and underwear. That was quite the scene! This book had sweet, sexy, great characters, and a great storyline! However, it was Eve that spoke to me in this book.
Eve, has had a abusive relationship in the past. Because of that, she hasn’t dated since she left her abusive ex-boyfriend. Her mom wasn’t all that great either. It caused her to be very leery and to build some pretty tough walks around her heart! Watching Finch and Shane break down those walls, piece by piece was great!
So I am pleased with the end of this series, and did I mention, I KNOW WHO DID IT!! Great series and I definitely recommend if you want some romantic suspense hotness!!! Lots of hotness!!!
What a great story! It starts right off with detective Eve catching two men breaking into her friend Poppy's home. It was cute how the men submitted to her authority in spite of her holding a gun on them wearing only panties and bra. Turns out, the men are innocent of causing a violation capable of getting them arrested. Both men actually want Eve and put great efforts to get what they want but there is still the murder of the beautiful Erin to be solved. The mayor wants resolution of the murder as the town is still in suspense over it. Shane, Poppy's brother and the son of a big movie star, and his friend Finch are focusing their pursuit of Eve and doing a pretty good job of sparking her interest in spite of her vow to never get involved with men again. The men are sexy and the actions are hot and so enticing it doesn't take them long to breach Eve's walls. I love a good menage, but with Eve being in law enforcement, she has a lot to deal with. I am so happy she made the time to give the guys her consideration plus so much more. I loved this story and of course the conclusion about who actually murdered Erin Mills.
Eve Miranski is a kick-a$$ cop. On the trail of a killer, she’s totally capable and knows how to handle herself on the job. She’s also terrified of letting a man ever own or control her again and she’s protecting her heart at all costs.
Shane Nickel and Finch Anderson . . .forest ranger and rancher. One encounter with Eve is all it took for them both to be all in. Now they just need to convince her to give them a chance at more than a one night stand.
There’s still a killer on the loose as well, and when new evidence comes to light, Eve gets the break she needs to break he case . . . but will everyone survive the outcome?!
I loved this trio. I really liked Eve’s character being so in control yet having a vulnerable side as well. And, the guys, I adored that they knew Eve could totally handle herself, but still worried about her and that they were true to their beliefs and convictions, even if it meant taking the hard way.
We also find out who killed Erin Mills, and all I can say is well played Vanessa Vale! It was unexpected, totally satisfying and well worth the wait. 4.5 stars!
Who killed Erin Mills ? The overarching plot spans all four books so its better to read them in line. This book has everything you need. Suspense, heat and a little danger. Eve is working with Nix at the Police Department. And Erin Mills is her case. She meets Finch and Shane at her besties party. She never went for men. She had a bad experience, but these two are so attractive, strong and sexy, she can not deny the heat. Shane and Finch also had past issues, they don't trust people easily. But they want Eve at all costs, she's the one. I adored the fact that Eve is straight in her opinion. She confronts the men with the problems. She doesn't hide or run away. That's so great. And she confronts herself with her past and her life and the fact that Shane and Finch both could be the two”. I love the life in Cutthroat and the steamy scenes I expect from Vanessa Vale. Its so sweet to see how Shane and Finch give Eve her self consciousness back. This book is about second chances, love, trust and of course a murder on the loose. But be sure they found the culprit.
Ok, so I know I gave this book 3 stars. But for me thats bad. I'll never give lower cause I'm not a writer and just by putting enough words together to make a whole book is impressive.
I gave the other three books in this series a 4 star. Not for the love story, which i found boring but I was actually invested in the murder sub-plot.
I really wanted to know who the killer was, and was happy this book was going to let us know.
Right up until Eve found the hidden camera. And i knew exactly who the killer was. I was really hoping I was wrong but every second after that just confimed my suspicions.
It would have been a great twist. If only the first season of Veronica Mars didn't have almost the exact same ending. Even the killers last names were similar. Then when I went back and thought of the entire series of books I realized there were some other more subtle similarities.
It just brought the whole series down for me. Wouldn't recommend the book. But qould recommend watching Veronica Mars, not as much sexy or as dirty but a better story.
4.35 stars This is the fourth book in the Wild Mountain Men series and it brings an end to the question of who killed Erin Mills while introducing a new triad couple into the small town of Cutthroat. Eve is a detective with the police department who has been actively searching for answers in the murder case of Erin Mills while swearing off of men due to her disastrous last relationship. What she did not account for is the entry of Shane and Fitch into her life with a bang on the day of her best friend’s party. The chemistry between the three is incendiary and it gives Eve more reason to pause her feelings for the men. Will the men allow her to keep them away? However, when a shocking new lead is brought to light in her case, will is cost Eve everything or will she figure out the truth in time before assumptions get the best of her? I volunteered to read an advance copy of this book.
This ménage romance is book four in a series. It is written in first person from multiple POV.
Eve is a detective with a past of abuse. Shane is the reclusive son of a movie star, and Finch is his best friend. The meet cute in this book made me laugh-out-loud and giggle snort. I loved the addition of the humor to the murder mystery. I loved Eve's friendship with Poppy, Shane's sister. I also loved the relationship Poppy and Shane have where they relay on each other. The guys are good for Eve and help her unwind and have some fun. I love how the mystery is solved in this book. I also love the relationship that Eve forms with each of the men.
I loved the plot, the passion, and the characters. There are a few errors that should have been caught in proofreading. They were a little frustrating, but did not take away from the enjoyment of the book. The whole series was a fun and fast read.
—>>> Cutthroat PD’s Eve Miranski and her partner are no closer to finding the killer on the loose in their town, but her reservations about men and keeping them at arm’s length for the foreseeable future cave when two men make her an unexpected offer she cannot refuse. Finch and Shane make it their mission to give her as much of them as they can, in hopes of convincing her to remain in their lives, because all it took was one look, and they both knew she was exactly what they were looking for. These men’s pasts, however, end up shaking her beliefs and trust in them, but it is a testament to her developing love for them and her being able to remain a professional which will ultimately pull them out of the doubt shaking their relationship’s foundation towards where the telling details point. A steamy and suspenseful story which did not disappoint!
So Officer Eve is investigating the murder of Erin Mills with her detective partner officer nix who we met in book 1 of wild mountain men, she is friends with Shane’s sister who is having a party when Shane and Finch and her meet there is chemistry but Eve has been badly hurt in the past and she needs to try and overcome this, whilst she is trying to work through her feelings she discovers something that cracks the murder open. Although the books are all part of the wild mountain series they can be read individually. This book was well written and I couldn’t put it down. I have read the majority if not all of this authors work and it contains the fantastic formula that makes her a one click for me every time on Amazon
