Tom, Becky and their two children are now part of a band travelling together towards their goal: their Zombie Castle. They know exactly where they need to get to in order to survive the zombie-infested world they are now living in. It has already been a dangerous journey, battling zombies to save themselves and rescue others along the way. An unexpected addition to their band of survivors are a group of knights, complete with mediaeval weaponry and the skills to go with them. But with new travellers come families to be sought and the fight to get to them to see if any have survived. They have honed their zombie-fighting techniques, adapting tools to become weapons, vehicles to become marauding fighting platforms, and begin to believe they have a chance of making a new life, if they can only reach their goal. But it seems that zombies are not their only enemy, and they are forced to face the darker side of humanity to get there.
The third book was an improvement compared to the second book.
What I kept wondering was, does not one of the over 40 people have a medical condition? And also not one seemed in need to find medical supply? With all that is happening, normal and small injuries are common occurrences. And as they are at leaset not yet in the company of a medical professional it seems odd to neglect that.
What I also kept wondering was, why they didn’t think in all their planning about, I don’t know, some solar panels or seeds to be able to stay self sufficient at one point, or when forced to.
Anyway, the books could have been easily one instead of three. When looking at the number of pages. But as it was free, I won’t complain. I was a bit disappointed regarding the release dates. I thought the series was completely published to find out in the end it wasn’t. And sadly there is no release date to the following book”s”. Darn, I wouldn’t have started if I had known the series wasn’t complete. I prefer to read series in one go.
Read this straight after ZC1 and 2, as the story was very fast paced. Continuing on with the same group of survivors in the days following a zompoc (loved this abbreviation, will be using it again!). Gathering more people in their party, more vehicles and weapons the story progresses as the group make their way further north. Stopping off at group members houses to check for survivors with varying success, they are joined by some of the remaining members of the Armed Forces. As their journey reaches its destination, who will make it and what will they find? Now eagerly awaiting Book 4!
I’m surprised by how this series changed from a promising pursuit of a safe passage into a secured place during a catastrophic apocalypse to an unbelievable depiction of how a group of untrained civilians killing off Zombies better than highly trained army personnel. There are scenes in which a group of young university students who charge into zombies wearing costumes are described as knights as if they believe/think they are.
The Zombie Apocalypse is not a happy-go-merry. It is quite strange that there is no conflict and everyone getting on with each other despite the group increasing with every encounter to reach 35+ individuals. Conflicts arise especially with no appointed leader in sight. It is frustrating to read about army battalions and barracks in disarray with Zombies killing everyone in sight while a group of untrained and inexperienced survivals fighting zombies fiercely with children offering logistic help from a distance. If the survivors are able to fight off Zombies; what is the point of heading to Warwick Castle?
Thrilled with the 3rd book. I honestly can't say enough, I read all 4 one after the other before i could stop for a few minutes to leave a review. This book was very much a bonding of the characters and group along with much gain and sad loses. It is har to review books without giving anytjing away! Always a page turner!
I have been a big fan of this series. Love the characters and the knights. The crew keeps heading for the castle, but faces battles, losses, and new additions along the way. Will the castle be the fortress they need? Read this book!
As the title informs, this is the third book in the series. It follows our group as they travel through England It keeps the easy reading style from the previous instalments. I will certainly be buying the next book.
I have really enjoyed this series so far and look forward to reading book for as soon as possible. The characters are engaging and the author's writing style has a pleasant voice.
