Teenagers are going missing. No witnesses, no clues, no DNA, no ransom notes ... just gone.
DI Atkins and DS Parkes are investigating. Their theory is that these disappearances are not random ... but what ties them all together. And who is next? And why?
Atkins has recently separated from his wife and can only see his young daughter on Saturday mornings with a social worker in attendance. His drinking is out of control and it's interfering with his job. Parkes is married with a little boy, in fact, she's just returned from maternity leave.
Who is doing the taking ...and why? This gave me the willies when all was exposed. The ending was spine-chilling.
Many thanks to the author / #THE Book Club Reviewer Group (FB) for the digital copy of this crime fiction. Read and reviewed voluntarily, opinions expressed here are unbiased and entirely my own.

Lee Wright, a university student gets stoned at a bar and gets into a car after with a stranger, assuming it was a taxi driver. He remembers the club, the dealer, the toilets, but where was he now. He was the first one missing!
DI Charles Atkins and DS Lauren Parkes from the Liverpool Police Department are assigned to investigate. Recently divorced, with a drinking problem, hooked on cigaettes and nursing a broken heart, DI Atkins must focus on the case in front of him. Just back from maternity leave, DS Parkes has a whole new outlook on life, to protect her one-year-old son, Josh.
There is no witnesses, communication, DNA or clues that present themselves!
The killer targets his victims…but why?
There are now three teenage boys missing…and the clock is ticking away. Are these cases linked?
This was a well-written crime fiction novel with exciting plot and well-developed characters. The ending was a complete surprise and this novel was well worth the read.
Many thanks to the author, and The Book Club Reviewer Group (FB) for my digital copy.
DI Atkins recovering from a nasty divorce and DS Parkes just back from maternity leave are hot on the case of a killer targeting students in the city center. Their personal life will have to take a backseat as the killer seems to be a few steps ahead of them. Will they be able to find him before he closes in on his next victim ?
Daddy’s Little Girl by Bradd Chambers is a police procedural psychological thriller . A solid police work with deeply flawed characters , it is a fast-paced plot that builds to a tension filled chilling climax
I would like to thank the TBC Reviewers request group & the author for providing an ARC of this book in exchange for my honest and fair review.
My review is a mixture of what I was thinking as I read and then realising that a lot of my queries were actually addressed when the tale came to an end.
1. Enjoyable, but a little far fetched for me. Probably because the protagonist left payback until too many years had passed, although to be fair, we do find out why.
2. Regarding Atkins (main detective) - why was he a raging alcoholic? Didn’t get it. Life wasn’t that bad...good job; a family. I know he was separated but...So glad Parkes voiced what I was thinking. Finally!
3. He coincidentally hooks up with the one person who plays a pivotal role in the protagonist’s life. An odd aside. Not sure what the point of that relationship was.
An interesting plot but the delivery was a little frustrating for me.

I received a copy of this book from TBC Reviewers request- Thank you DI Atkins recovering from a nasty divorce and DS Parkes just back from maternity leave are hot on the case of a killer targeting students in the city center. Absolutely loved this book (to be fair I tend to love anything that Bradd writes), if you are looking for a novel full of loop holes and little gaps and twists that suddenly become perfectly pulled together you won’t get a better offer than this! Brilliant characters with enough flaws to make them relatable but not enough to make the hateable. A talented author I genuinely enjoy reading!
This book introduces DI Atkins and DS Parkes for the first time. Atkins is rapidly sinking into alcoholism after the breakdown of his marriage and Parkes has just returned from maternity leave. Teenagers are going missing, apparently randomly, but they must be linked somehow. Once the link becomes apparent, things become very dark and the story turns rather chilling.
Another good book by Bradd Chambers. The characters were very well written and the story definitely gave me the creeps more than once! However, I felt it was definitely a book that would be better read in a few longer sittings rather than picking it up and putting it down (as I did) as the chapters were written from so many different character viewpoints that it was easy to lose track.
I have previously read and enjoyed two out of three Bradd Chambers' books. So, looked forward to reading Daddy's Little Girl.
In the city of Liverpool teenagers are going missing. DI Atkins, recently divorced and self medicating with alcohol; and DS Parkes, recently returned from maternity leave have been assigned to the case.
A very interesting read with well written characters. The book held my interest, as the plot was very enticing. I was unable to guess the plot, which always makes a story more appealing to me. I look forward to reading more from Bradd Chambers in the future.
For anyone who is a fan of thriller you wont be disappointed, I couldn't put the book down and so many times wanted to flip to the last pages to answer the many questions I had! Am so glad I never because the twists and turns throughout the story and the unexpected ending had me shocked and near to tears, I would recommend this book to everyone it was amazing and I look forward to more tales from this author.
If you like your mysteries creepy and dark... this might interest you. I wasn't sure whether to love the writing or hate the cruelty. Highly recommend it.
DI Atkins and DS Parkes have to investigate a case of missing students that go missing one by one. DI Atkins has some previous marital issues while DS Parkes is back from maternity leave. Will they catch the perp? I hope there will be further books as Atkins and Parkes work well together.
I voluntarily reviewed this book thanks to The Book Club Reviewers Group on Facebook and would like to thank them and the publishers. DI Atkins and DS Parkes are introduced in this book and I love the partnership between the two of them. They get involved in a creepy and dark mystery that takes lots of twists and turns.
Loved this book.... The characters are well developed great story..... Loved the 2 detectives who are involved in the story had me guessing plenty of twists.... Look forward to hearing more....
A really good concept for a murder story and immersive writing which kept me turning the pages quickly. A student from the university has gone missing during a night out which is totally out of character and we know that he’s been abducted. Slowly other young people also start to disappear so we think the worst. I liked the way the first victim was intoxicated and you really felt the vulnerability of that situation and the sudden panic when he realised something was not quite right but out of his control. The drama overall is tense and the secrets are slowly revealed which is a good technique as I wondered how the parallel storyline would merge I found the ending a little less believable with the victims happening to all be a similar age a bit too coincidental but overall a good entertaining and suspenseful read, thank you.
I have previously read and really enjoyed 4 previous books by Bradd Chambers' book, so was lookong forward to reading Daddy's Little Girl as I knew I wouldn't be disappointed
In the city of Liverpool teenagers are going missing. DI Atkins, recently divorced and self medicating with alcohol; and DS Parkes, recently returned from maternity leave have been assigned to the case. This is the first time these characters have been introduced as the last books seen characters cross over between books
A really interesting read with enjoyable characters. I was unable to guess the plot, which always makes a story more appealing to me as this is my favourite genre which means i often guess the plot lines.
Bradd is someone i have recomebeded a few times over the last year, and especially enjoyed this one with it being so close to home. I look forward to reading more from Bradd Chambers
I’ve read a few of Bradd Chambers books and this one certainly didn’t disappoint. I really enjoyed this book. I loved the short chapters and it kept me guessing right until the very end and even that was a surprise.
A young man goes missing in Liverpool after being on a night out with friends. He’d taken drugs and had been thrown out of a club as he was in such a state. After being seen fighting on some CCTV, he seemed to have disappeared.
DI Charlie Atkins and DS Lauren Parkes were the investigating officers. Lauren had just returned from maternity leave and Charlie was going through a messy divorce and was relying heavily on alcohol.
Charlie and Lauren were desperately trying to find Lee, the missing man, and then another man went missing in similar circumstances.
A great read and one I would definitely recommend.
From the opening chapter, this book had me gripped. A hooded figure is stalking young people one by one, and the sense of menace never lets up. I was completely drawn into the investigation and couldn’t work out the killer’s identity until it was revealed near the end — and when it came, it floored me. The motive was chilling and heartbreakingly tragic, giving the story a depth I didn’t expect. I also loved the dynamic between Parkes and Atkins; their partnership gave the book a strong human side, and Atkins’ flaws made him all the more interesting. A dark, tense thriller with twists that stayed with me long after I finished. Bradd Chambers has done it yet again. Thanks to TBC reviewer group and author for the opportunity to read.
Ok so this is a tricky one for me, the plot was a good one, the characters quite well written however I found the ending a bit rushed with people dying when they really should’ve been more careful due to their profession but the main thing that has me putting 3 stars rather than a higher rating is the style of writing. It’s maybe just me but I kept getting stuck on sentences like “Despite the fact Kaitlyn had actually WENT out of her way to go to Next for new outfits for the girls” Shouldn’t it be “gone out of her way”? There were at least three other sentences using went instead of gone and it really annoyed me. That said I did enjoy the storyline, very dark and quite clever really.
Detective sergeant Lauren Parkes has just back off maternity leave and Detective Inspector Atkins who is rapidly becoming an alcoholic after the breakdown of his marriage and coping with social services over his children, start to investigate missing college kids but is there a link between them and can they sort it before more disappear? Time is of the essence but when Atkins takes himself off the case Parkes is alone. Add to this a persistent journalist who will do anything to get a story and you have a roller coaster of a read. Bradd Chambers has done it again keeps you gripped to the bitter end. Highly recommend he is fast becoming one of my favourite authors.
Teenagers are going missing and nothing seems to link their disappearances, can DI Atkinson and DS Parkes solve this one?
A thoroughly engaging story told through varying views throughout. I found the ending was one I had not anticipated and felt a little saddened by. The rationale behind kidnappings is interesting.
I would have given a 5 star rating the only reason for less is that there are quite a large number of characters in the book which made me have to think about what I was reading and who was who a little more than I would have liked, but other than that a fantastic read.
First off, I need to get this off my chest as it drives me mad. When a tale is set in the UK, I really wish the authors would stop throwing in Americanisms. Too often the word ass is used instead of arse and why? It’s not like the authors hold back on any other swear word. I don’t know anyone who uses ass and in this case, I very much doubt a Scouser would.
Now, that being said, this book is a good and fast story that will leave you surprised at the people involved and the reasons why. Maybe a bit hurried at the end, but all in all, a goodly romp.
A dark and twisted tale which does not disappoint. Without any spoilers this is about a murder who is making people disappear without a trace and it’s a race against time for the police to work out the connection and stop him before anyone else gets hurt but they are also struggling with their own issues as well. This is dark edge of the seat thriller with a great conclusion. Does not disappoint.
Another of Bradd's books that I loved. Finished in a day, perfect way to spend a cold Sunday.
I really enjoy the style of his books, his character development and the twists. I certainly didn't predict how this would unfold or the motivation for the attacks. Dark, unpredictable and worth the read.
Thank you Bradd and TBC Reviewer group for my copy of this novel
a brilliant read..DI Atkins who has personal issues away from his job is investigating youngsters going missing . He is assisted by DS Parkes who has just returned to work after having a baby...set in Liverpool this is a gritty book from the outset...a chance meeting with a woman for Atkins ends up in tragedy and the end is fantastic !
I didn’t love the dialogue and found there were a lot of characters. However, I just couldn’t put the book down, the storyline was great and at the end of a chapter, I needed to read on.
A fast paced thriller with dark characters and an ending that brings everything together with a bang. A book I had to make sure I keep a focus on to keep a track of the various angles of the characters but didn't stop my enjoyment of the book. Great
