Wylie’s demon arms have totally screwed him. He just wanted a chance—cash for college, a career. No one is going to hire a freak like him. But a deserted lab designed to cage werewolves? Anti paranormal tech with magical defenses? A gun? None of it should have been there.
If he were human, the cops wouldn’t want to throw him in prison without a trial. If he were human, sorcerers wouldn’t have come to kill him. But Wylie isn’t human, and the hunters will do everything to possess his dragon power.
Overnight, Wylie goes from teenage f-up to endangered species. One place can save him—the Academy—but only if he can win over their representative. Theodore Howld has a beast inside him full of deadly allure and bloodlust, bringing hunters to their knees to destroy them. He’s the perfect sorcerer, the perfect assassin, the perfect protector… but he might just be the worst person. Wylie’s life is in his hands; will Theodore crush him or save him?
————— Welcome to the first episode of The Paranormal Academy For Troubled Boys serial, written by bestselling MM author, Sadie Sins. A grownup Harry Potter meets X-Men, this is a sexy, LGBTQ, new adult serial. Follow troubled shifters, sorcerers and halflings as they make mistakes, find love, and fight to stay alive in a world still trying to figure out if being paranormal is a crime or a gift.
This was . . . just way too long. Each scene could have been cut down by half. You're in the middle of a suspenseful part and yet you have to get through 5 pages of description first before anything happens. Wasn't a fan of that.
Also, literally everyone in this book hates Wylie. Like, literally everyone. It's hard to read a book about a character when he's so disliked and can never get a break. I understand that he's coming from a rough background, but when the adults come into the story to help him, I expected SOME of them to be nice. I thought Theodore was just an asshole. I loved his intro but after awhile I really started to dislike how he treated Wylie.
Wylie grew up not knowing what or who he was, with no family, no one to guide him. Now finally he's beginning to discover the answers. My heart broke for him. I want to know more about the world and what made things the way they are. The chemistry between Wylie and Theo especially in the beginning, is electric in a dangerously sexy way. I loved it! I'm eagerly anticipating getting my hands on the next episode. I was given an ARC to read and am voluntarily leaving a review for the new version of the first part of this awesome story.
I’ll start by establishing that Demon Arms, this book’s original novel, is actually one of my most favorite MM romances out there. I’ve read it multiples times and adore it with my whole being. It wasn’t perfect by any means, as I did have a lot of unanswered questions (mainly about world building) by the end. What really sold me though were the characters, and the romance obviously. So, you can imagine how excited I was when Sadie Sins announced she was rewriting and revamping the book. Nervous, but very, very excited. The beginning of this book holds true to original novel, but after Wylie is taken into custody that’s when things take a turn and the new content comes in. I appreciated the fully developed world building this time around. It definitely adds to the story and makes it easier to understand. I felt Wylie was deepened as a character as well. I can tell she’s setting this series up to have a more intriguing plot line. The original plot was beautiful, but I’d love to see content added to it. Seeing all my favorite characters come back was also a blast. I miss Dorian, but we’ll get to see him in Part 2, thank God! And then we can start this romance off with a bang. It seems to me like she’s making the whole dragon side of the characters far more complex than in the original and I can’t wait to see what that means in regards to Dorian. While I do agree this book has gone through massive improvement, I did have some minor issues. You see, Theodore is hands down my favorite character is this series. He may even make my top 15 favorite book characters list. Reading about him in Demon Arms was an utter delight. I was so excited when Sadie revealed we’d be getting a more in-depth look into Theo this time around. Don’t get me wrong, I still adore him...but he felt different in this book? He was so much more violent and unhinged compared to Demon Arms that it just seemed a little odd. While he was kind of sassy asshole in the original (and still is in this remake) I felt like he was borderline psychotic at times. He kept throwing Wylie around, breaking shit, manipulating others through magical mind control (and then taking advantage of them sexually), or imagining murdering people left and right. I understand much of that had to do with her new depiction of the dragon shifter side, but it was just a tad surprising compared to the Theo I remember and love. He wasn’t a saint in the original by any means, but his attitude is now coming off almost cruel. This isn’t to say I don’t still like his character, because I do, but I hope Part 2 has him chilling out and returning to his sardonic self (honestly almost all Wylie/Theo interactions in Demon Arms had me rolling on the floor laughing). I’d also be more than willing for him to get his own storyline/romance (just whatever content I can get tbh). I’m very excited to meet all the other characters again and see the direction this book takes. I’m hoping there might be some new characters in store as well, but won’t be disappointed if she keeps to the original cast. Waiting till February is gonna be a complete bummer but I’ll have to somehow make do.

this was amazing.. it was interesting and unique.. i loved the different type of aspect that is this story.. it was sweet.. it was fast paced and it made me keep reading until it was over. i loved it and i cannot wait to see what happens next!
I REALLY liked the first version of this story. It kept me engaged and hungering for more.
Now suddenly there's rape, more rape, big long scenes that don't move the story forward AT ALL. It even makes me doubt very much if I will continue this series.
A good thing: I like that the author is explaining more about the world. The characters are actual individuals (not where some books the characters are all basically the same person, just with different names).
I don't really know what else to say here because I struggled to finish. I had such high hopes for this series when I first read Demon Arms! Then seeing the series was being 'revived' with a new version that goes into more detail, it was awesome! But... not for me.
I have no doubt that alot of people with love this book, the writing is solid. It's just not for me I guess.

Liked it. But(!) I thought this story would be between the teacher and the dragon and I read the blub for book two and suddenly it's between the dragon and another student. I wasn't mentally prepared for this, so it's a no for book two for me. Overall I thought it was a good story, but I didn't like the direction it was headed. So maybe a good read for someone else, but not for me.

This was way too slow paced for me. I know it's a series but nothing happened in this installment at all. I might read book 2 based on the blurb, we'll see.
I am really pleasantly surprised by this story. I was expecting something a lot more trite with much less world and character development. The author was trying to write something more like a TV show with different scenes highlighting what happens to different characters, and I can definitely see it.
Minus one star for my pet peeve of the perspective jumping multiple times within a scene in a few instances. I don't mind alternating perspective, but I really want the change of perspective to be clearly defined and consistent. I want to be able to easily know whose interpretation of events I'm observing without having to mentally leapfrog from character to character.
Upon further consideration, minus one more star because it was just so dang stressful to me that even though I generally like the character development and world building, I haven't been able to bring myself to read the second episode. I'll return to the series and read it eventually, but generally I want to leave a story I enjoyed feeling either super satisfied or craving more. This one left me in a weird limbo of not knowing what I want.
The world Sadie Sins creates is intriguing and creative. I’m excited to read more and get deeper into the life of Wylie. This is just the beginning of a Serial and I’m hooked. The characters she created are unique, interesting and I found myself invested in their lives. I loved the suspenseful moments, all the mystery, action and drama. I really enjoyed Theodore and I hope he continues to be a part of Wylie’s story.
I’m a huge fan of magic and shifters so to have both in a story really rocked my world!
I'll be blunt. I've read the previous version, and yes, loved it! However, upon reading this version, I would call this an improvement over the previous version. Because, looking back now, there were plot holes I never noticed before. This version has filled in on a lot of questions in the world building. Of course, Wylie is still my book boyfriend.
Wow, so not a romance even if Wylie is gay. But Dayam.. been a while since I've gotten a chance to read a decent, entertaining magical, shifter, psychic story, especially being a KU book. I mean, it actually has all three. Interesting world, about to start the next one. Not sure where it picks up but I have a feeling I'll have a little bit of wait for another one..
1.) It was hard to find. The author claimed it was free on their website, and it was- BUT. BUT, it was super confusing to navigate the website to find it- to the point I almost didn't want to read it anymore
2.) Really weird pacing. Like seriously, it felt like I was in a car with a brand new driver. Slowwwwww... REALLY FAST---- B R E A K S!!!!!!!!
Bloody, suspenseful and just plain fantastic! It was a wild ride that hooked me from the first page. I can’t wait to learn more about the characters and about this new world of shifters and magic!
Since this is Sadie Sins I thought it would be straight erotica.. surprise, there is none (apart from one short scene). We don't even get to have any real romantic entanglement here - still, loved it. It was long, well written and I think a wonderful start to an angsty and dark series with mm elements.
I’m brand new to this series so I didn’t really know what to expect. I have to say that I loved Wylie and the whole concept really. I mean, not a whole lot happened in a full length book- I think I’m just desperate to get to the academy. But it was certainly gripping! Will get on to number 2!
Part of me just wants to write, "If you haven't read anything by Sadie Sins, you're a dweeb," and blow virtual raspberries at all the offenders! 😂 BUT, since I'm not twelve, I'm pretty sure using words like "dweeb," only tells my age MORE (at least the physical number), and it is NOT a valid review, for reasons already listed, I'll move on to the actual reasons why you should...
Sadie is a phenomenal storyteller. If you are a fan of gay paranormal, fantasy, and urban fantasy you will be hard pressed to find better world building, or ensemble casts as multifaceted, no matter if they are in the book for one chapter or thirty. Sadie goes beyond just telling to actually showing you the story like a painter at work. Her words unfold in each page to transport you to the world she's created. You become a part of the story and experience everything together with the characters.
For The Paranormal Academy of Troubled Boys, Episode #1 the reader opens the first page to three teenaged boys and one adult male who are about to rob a mansion. It is all part of the boys initiation into "the family." Think... more Godfather, less Mama Mia!😂
From the get-go things aren't going as smoothly as they should so everyone is on edge, and once the snowball effect takes hold, grab on tight, it doesn't stop until the very last page! Even then you're left panting and salivating for the next episode. But never fear dear Sinners, it will be out in a few weeks!
I don't want to give anything away but I can tell you this opening episode is filled with magic and sorcerers, shifters and other beasts, action violence, HAWT dub-con and one deadly pair of demon arms.
I am all kinds of stoked about this series! I am also in love with Theo! Just FYI!💖🌈💖

I received a complimentary copy of this book from the author. The thoughts and opinions expressed are solely mine.🐉
Things to remember: 1- it's an episodic SERIAL, not a novel. Please don't leave a bad review if each episode does not end in HEA. Think of it as a continuous TV series.😁 2- there is violence and some scenes may be triggering: dub-con, blood play 3- support indie authors with reviews and please don't steal from them by pirating.💖
I want you to think. How do you know when a book is captivating? Me? I know from the fact that I left myself on the tram while going to work. I was lost so deep in the book that I did not even realize I ended up at the final station.
This is the beginning of an interesting story. This is a review of the first book of PATB Serial
Wylie Doe is anything but ordinary. He is a smart kid who had to navigate through an unfair life. He battled with the system, his environment and himself as well. All the while trying to remain sane and protect those important to him.
The whole story is pervaded by the author's idiosyncratic sense of irony, humour and anger at violations of her moral standards.
Through this book, we can witness how limiting and dangerous prejudice can become. And how easily life is overlooked for the “greater good”. Just like in many of Sadie’s stories we are put against mores measuring the “normal”, “standard” and the complacency of shallow minds.
I was furious. I was scared. I was rooting for a happy end. By the time I got near the finish, I could not get enough. I need to know what is going to happen next.
I first read demon arms and really enjoyed it. I loved the romance in it and all the characters so I was excited to see it getting fleshed out more and curious about what might change or stay the same. The beginning is very similar to the old version and stays similar until we get to when Wylie ends up in jail then things get more fleshed out than before which I enjoyed. There was some action which was a lot of fun and I liked getting to see more from the other characters POVs. I can’t wait to see what comes next and for certain characters who I adore to be introduced. There were a few parts that felt a little long but overall I enjoyed this one a lot. I am excited for the next part of PATB serial. Curious to see what else gets added to this world. I was very glad to have more world building and actually get to understand more about the different political things going on along with what happened to the shifters. Still love Wylie and want to protect him from all the bad stuff.
My first experience with a Sadie Sins novel, and I was quite impressed. Not much "romance" actually happening in this first novel, but some very in depth world building going on as well as character development. It's a dark world that SS creates and then drops a pure hearted kid in the middle of it. From the afterword I see that the series is an expansion of the original novel Demon Arms and I'm caught between the desire to know more of Wylie's story and the fear of spoilers for the rest of the series.
What an amazing world the author has created. The action and drama sucked me in from the first page and kept me invested. I am absolutely thrilled with the events occurring in the story and I can't wait to continue Wylie's story.
Episode #1 of The Paranormal Academy for Troubled Boys (PATB Serial) by Sadie Sins is a fantastic fantasy read with a truly intriguing story and wonderful characters. As the first book in a series it introduces us to this amazing universe created by Sadie Sins and whets our appetite for more. The story is well written and interesting, drawing the reader in and keeping their attention. Wylie and Theodore and all of the supporting cast of characters just deepened my desire for more books from this series. Drama, action, magic, shifters... all the ingredients for a fantastic story and this one delivers on that. I love it and can not wait for more.

I love her writing style. Her characters are believable and we'll written.I make it a point to read all of her books.Although I'm sad no more episodes of demon bonded have came out.I'm totally hooked on that series.
