Surviving His Scars

Rate this book
Monroe
I have a secret.

One that will get the man I’ve been crushing on for years killed if my father ever finds out.

My sister says he’s a stalker—how else could he know exactly when I’m in trouble and come to rescue me?

I don’t care. He’s saved me over and over again, so I know he doesn’t want to harm me. And every time I get so much as a glimpse of him, my heart becomes even more his.

Gian
Everyone who hears my name instantly thinks I’m a monster.

They don’t know the real me. The one who hated the men who tried to make me just as evil as them.

All I wanted was to burn their empire to the ground.

Until I saw her.

My precious one.

Her family thinks I wanted to hurt her when all I want is to protect her.

The scars of my past aren’t pretty. They shroud me like a dark cloak, making me feel like the devil I’ve been cast as. It would taint her sweetness if I let them touch her.

But when she disappears on me, I can’t hold back any longer.

Gian is the monster in the shadows. Always there at the right time but never there when loneliness and the need for reassurance sets in. Monroe isnt like her siblings. She has a sensitive soul and only wants to live happily ever after with the man of her dreams. Oooo... how love these books (I sang that last part). I can’t get enough of them. I have been anticipating this book for months. I wanted to know more about this stranger hiding in the shadows protecting Monroe when ever she needs it the most. I love how Terri builds The other stories through the previous ones. It gets me so excited for when the book actually comes out. BUT.... Here is where this takes a turn. I hate saying anything negative but I want to give an honest review 😩😩😩😩. I’m so torn up right now 😭😭😭. No matter what I will always like this series. I never want it to end and I do like how Terri is putting out books so quickly. However... I feel as though because these books are not as long as previous books in the series I’m not able to fully connect with the characters as much as I have in the past. That’s what makes reading these books so enjoyable to me. Now this may just be my opinion and because I never want the book to end but I feel as though the story is just rushed. OK so I’m not an author. I don’t know how these things work I just know what I enjoy. I may just be being selfish because I want more. No matter what I will always read a new book of hers that comes out because it’s Terri and I love Mafia, MC, and Rockstars. I just had to get that out there. Lets proceed 😏😏 Oh how I cried for Monroe. She just wants her knight in shining armor to be there for her not just in times of needing rescued. She wears her heart on her sleeve and G has been tearing it down left and right. But not on purpose. Everything he does he does for her. He breathes for Monroe. He kills for Monroe. He crosses oceans for Monroe. Need I go on 😒😒. Things aren’t always as they seem. But don’t get it twisted. G will always protect what’s his 😉

Was good

It’s was a good story. But was a really quick read for me. When paying over $7 for book I’d like it to last a lot longer then an hour. Don’t get me wrong this author is one of a few authors left that I one click for. And needs a name mistakes fixed up. But will read the next book in the series. Thanks.

This was a quick but good read. G was perfect to me and Monroe was good. I think once she finally got her man she could had toned it down a notch see I g as she loved the man lol. Not making easy for him but not push to much either. Either way you won't be disappointed in this book unless u don't like to spend to much for quick reads. Happy reading!

Okay, I have to say, maybe I would feel differently about this story, if it wasn't overshadowed by things, that happened mostly at the beginning.
I'm not a fan of delicate, innocent and sweet h. And add the way how Monroe acted where Gian was concerned... All she did was cry and then cry some more. The moments, when those tears would normally make me hurting for h, I was over it. I know she's heartbroken, but God, that's too much for me to digest.
I never liked h, who seemed couldn't survive without a man in her life. Okay, it's not just any man, its the one, but still... But being self-destructive, because of a man... I need a h, who will may live with an ache in her heart for the rest of her life, but is strong enough to survive on her own. To find a midle between heartache and moving on, I guess.
I hope I make sense, with what I'm trying to say.
Gian... Another annoyance. He wants a cake and eat it too. Wtf was he thinking? He wants Monroe, but she's safer without him in her life. But that medallion, which allows to follo and listen to Monroe. What? He's thinking, they will life theirs life seperately and him showing up, when Monroe needs to be rescued? Or if she moves on, he's going to listen, when she makes love with another guy? Sure, that will work and make Gian so happy. *eye roll* So, to answer my own question, he wasn't thinking. Gian was dramatic pussy.
Next thing, will contain spoilers, because I can't talk about how I feel about it, without revealing.
So, we learn, that Enzo Montana isn't Gian father. And suddenly Gian is OK in everyone's eyes? I wanna to roll my eyes about it. I mean, Gian grown up with that man, does being biological or not matters that much?
Another thing about it, sometimes that twist makes me happy, but here I feel like it makes it easy. Of course, it will make Gian feel relieved, because he is tormented by it, but... This is missed opportunity to remind once again, that children aren't theirs parents. They shouldn't be punished for their parents sins and that they can choose their own path. Which what Gian did.

*****SLIGHTLY SPOILER-ISH*****

I knew I should've stayed a good little girl & read this series in order but noooooooo... I just had to throw a hissy fit, skip the Masterson sisters' books & refuse to read more in the series until Luca & Violet got their HEA... *face palm* Now all I see are the hearts, the twin double deliveries, the faithfulness, the flippin' unicorns farting rainbows that I so badly wish two other characters in the next book in these intertwining series' (Angels Halo MC Next Gen & Rockers Legacy) would've gotten! GAH!! But I digress...

Monroe was one lucky b*tch. Gian was ALL about her, protected her for AGES, fit seamlessly into her family, was undeniably sexy & basically... just made every single one of her dreams come true. Heroes like this are a dime a dozen, so I adored the fact that he was one of them.

I didn't feel like a whole heck of a lot happened in this one, storyline-wise, just the same ol' relationship-centered stuff for Monroe & Gian which was fine but... it would've been awesome to get some angst or more action. The kidnapping scene was only fade-to-black & that was kind of a bummer.

Most looking forward to Max's just-recently-announced book, Her Shelter. I'm nervous because it said he's a lot like Bash (& boy, did I have problems with him in the beginning of the OG series) but I'm super intrigued with the heroine being deaf!

Side Note: Please, Monroe... stop saying 'Daddy'. It drives me nuts & makes you sound like a little girl.

This has been highly anticipated and boy did TAB not disappoint. I have been on the edge of my seat waiting for the mystery behind Monroe's stalker since Sweet Agony where TAB first dangled the carrot.

Monroe is an interesting character. Normally, I prefer my h strong, sassy and bad*ss rather than so kind they always look out for others but TAB made Monroe the perfect mixture. She's kind and looks for the best in others but she also doesn't roll over to please others, is sassy and knows when to place herself first which is the attribute I loved most. I think it's important for people to be selfish sometimes and look out for themselves first when they see a sailing ship.

Gian is so not what I was expecting. Firstly, because I would not have guessed that Gian were the stalker. Secondly, because he's everything I expected - ruthless, cunning and relentless yet everything I didn't expect too - kind, thoughtful and willing to do whatever necessary to make Monroe happy. I loved Gian way more than I thought I would and his actions were so sweet that I admit he may be my favourite of the Next Gen series.

Overall, I loved this book and I would recommend this book to anyone who 1. Loves TAB 2. Loves a suspenseful romance 3. Loves an overprotective, close knit family. Honestly, I loved it enough that if I could force everyone to read this book (and series) then I would.

Stockholm Syndrome is NOT sexy

I am going to have to stop reading the next generation books. Most of them have characters I can't stand and/or stories that feel ridiculous and rushed.

Gian starts watching over (stalking) Monroe with the help of a necklace he gave her. He listens in on her and tracks her movements to "protect" her. And she falls in love with him? She doesn't even know his name. When she tries to break free he uses her phone to track her to New York and then Rome. Once she finds out who he really is and that he is an enemy of her family she says screw the family she only wants him. Then he KIDNAPS her from the hospital after assaulting her brother and an MC member who was guarding her. She puts up a half hearted argument but really never intends on trying to get away. When her family start looking for her they find out that Gian isn't the biological son of their enemy so now it's ok that he has stalked and kidnapped her. What kind of crap is that? This family has made it clear that blood means nothing when it comes to family. They gather new family like collector's items.

There is nothing about this story that is remotely relatable or even anything that might make me give a damn about either Monroe or Gian. Very disappointing

I don't know if it's just me or what but I found this over the top cheezy and gushy sweet, it made my teeth hurt.
Monroe don't even get me started on her. She falls in love with someone she doesn't even know, all because he is "protecting her". Even though she has no clue for awhile who he is.
The minute she meets him it's insta love and of course he is obsessed with her which makes no sense considering he doesn't know her except from a picture he saw of her.
The to put the cherry on top of the cake the one thing that was going to cause issues with them being together just happened to not be true.
Gian is a total mystery to me. We know who raised him and one second of how he got the scar on his face but we know nothing about what his life was like growing up.
For me this was a jumbled mess of a story and didn't feel the connection with the characters.

Last we saw poor Monroe, she was being kidnapped in Mila's book. So the "cliffhanger" loomed. Okay, it wasn't really much of a cliffhanger. Alright, it wasn't a cliffhanger at all because let's face it: We all knew who took Monroe. Unfortunately, Gian is a hated member of a family that Monroe's entire family hates. For reasons that are obvious to any longtime reader of the Angels Halo MC books.

This book was passionate, fun, and awesome because we got to see so many of our favorites from both the Rock and MC world. What can I say? It was a fantastic read and you should really consider reading it. You won't regret it.

I can't wait for Luca's book. Hopefully, he will get his act together before Violet's Dad does harm.

Possible spoilers

This book was Monroe's book. It was revealed who are protector was. It went back and forth a lot we already knew from Mila's book! It was half way through before it finally was just about Monroe and G. Then it fast forwards to the double wedding! Through the series Spider was the tough enforcer but he just rolled over. I found that disappointing. Then G had a special wedding present that we never heard more of. Then the babies were born. Felt rushed.

Surviving His Scars will have you holding your breath and on the edge of your seat as the dark and light entwine. As Monroe is torn between her heart and her head it will take everything and a little bit more for Gian to prove he means those three little words. Their story is emotional, passionate, heartfelt and captivating. A story that will wrap itself tightly around your heart and have you enchanted by their love story.

Got about half way through and had to start skimming. Characters felt like caricatures, situations were resolved way too quickly, nothing seemed genuine. Too many unrealistic plot points to go into- but one of the most ridiculous was Monroe going to Rome, by herself, staying for 6 weeks in a swanky hotel- like her super-overprotective dad would ever be okay with that?!! Also, the H’s pet name for h was “precious”- I could not get Gollum saying it out of my head! Totally creepy.

I have read most of the books by Terri Anne Browning, I feel as though she could do so much more with her latest works; don't get me wrong, I'm a huge fan of hers, but even when I like her new stories and they do leave me wanting more, I feel that due to their shortness it is a little bit rushed. Again, this is only my opinion.

I stayed up all night reading this book and would not succumb to sleep as I needed to finish it and this book I couldn't seem to wait for. I felt from the beginning that Gian had a lot of love for Monroe and I was certainly right. I really enjoyed reading this book, but now I'm going to read them all again lol.

Great read!

This was a must read for me after reading Saving Mila! This was much more angsty than Mila’s book but it was just as good! Gian and Monroe had an interesting story. Their chemistry was off the charts! I love that he was always trying to protect her! Can’t wait for the next book!

4.5 stars... this one was a challenge for me in compared to her sisters story and I can’t figure out why. I still loved it because you get all the familiar faces but so much of it takes place outside Crewell so you don’t get as much and Gian is a bit aloof at times so I didn’t connect with his character as well I think.

Love it!

I love how much passion goes into Terri-Anne's characters. Monroe and Gian story set me off in a wave of different emotions, to find a man that loves you so and protects you so fiercly. I was hooked from the begining.
I can't wait to read Loving Violet to see where Terri takes me next, I am certain I won't be disappointed though.

4.5 Survival Stars🌟

The next book in the next gen series is here and I have to be honest and say I’ve read them out of order slightly, but still very easy to follow with the way Terri writes😁

Monroe is finally here and it’s finally time to figure out who her “stalker” is and find out more about him😍A fast paced story where the pages just fly by❣️

This was a somewhat continuation of the last book. But this obviously had more to do with Monroe and Gian. We went back a little to see how these two got together and the details we were doing for in the book before this lol. This one was a bit more sweet and romantic but still with its own surprises. And the ending was beautiful!

I love Emerson, ok that was just a very small part of the book.
Monroe had a secret man who saved her in bad situations. But almost nobody knows that when Monroe went to Rome, he went as well, but the morning Monroe had to go back home, he was away again. Luckily he was happy with the surprise Monroe had for him.

I really enjoyed this book more romance than MC. But still has an MC vibe. Storyline was well written, intriguing and steamy. Definitely a page turner that made me want more. . I can't wait for the next. Thanks so much for the escape.
