A little dare never hurt anybody...My whole life's been about following in my parents' ace school and then get into med school. And that means that my dream to become a world-famous artist isn’t part of the plan. Neither is the game of spin-the-bottle that leads me to the second most humiliating moment of my life with Mason Finnick. The brooding, obviously heartbroken, and ridiculously talented point guard of the Rock Valley High basketball team. And better yet – thanks to my parents and their plan, we’re stuck in the same class together. But I’ve got one mission for the rest of senior year that will make everyone ace this class and convince Mason to be the guinea pig for Project Happiness. He’ll win his ex back and I’ll get to go to art camp this summer. Should be easy! But Mason has a way of getting under my skin. And the smoldering way he looks at me makes me want to ditch the plan.If I can’t pull myself together, I might just ruin everything. Or, I might just find that letting go can be the best part of life. This is Trina’s story - a sweet young adult romance in the Rock Valley High series of stand-alone novels.

Trina loves art. Her parents want her to go to med school. When they change her class schedule she is now stuck in an independent study class with Mason. Mason is new at the school for his senior year and starting point guard on the basketball team. Mason’s cheerleading girlfriend broke up with him before winter break. Trina decides to help Mason get his girlfriend back in a project to ace a class so she can go to art camp.

I am not a big fan of the heroine. I feel like she butted into Mason’s business just so she could be his friend. And this was before Project Happiness. Another thing that bothered me about the book is the dictator parents trope. Also, the heroine kind of seemed… dense I guess could be the word.

I didn’t truly buy the parents at the end. It seems like one of the wrap everything up and make it happy. It didn’t feel real. And Mrs. Drew needs a refresher on how to talk to students.

Dare You to Date the Point Guard is a satisfyingly sweet teen romance with some great life lessons wrapped in a wonderful story.

I sympathized with Trina and her desire to see everyone else find happiness even at her own expense. Sometimes we don’t see ourselves as we really are and neglect our own needs for the sake of others. She quickly learns that somewhere down the road this will crash and burn. Not only will it affect her but those around her.

Mason is a sweetheart wrapped in a grumpy protective armor. He must balance keeping a secret with desire to live his life fully. Keeping a secret may not be the best way, but it’s the choice he makes. The problem is secrets can backfire.

Can a friendship based on wrong information be the basis for love between two very different people? Grab a copy and find out. I received and ARC courtesy of the author and this is my honest opinion.

This book is so cute. Mason Finnick is the new kid at rocky valley high he is guarded and focused with walls higher and tougher than anything you can imagine. Trina is set on following ‘the plan’ to go to med school and be just like her parents. Mason and Trina end up spending a lot of time together in a research class due to being the only two enrolled. They help each other discover what it’s like to genuinely be happy and do things for yourself. She wants to major in Art and with the help of mason she achieves this and excels more than ever. I actually loved them together although it took a long time for Trina to realise just how badly she’d fallen for him once she admitted it there was no turning around.

i really like trina but this was a mess. the main problem she had was totally created and exaggerated in her head and it didn’t hold at all, it just made her look insane by making such a big deal of what wasn’t there at all

Dare to Date the Point Guard

The bar has been set 5.0! This was an excellent YA/Teen romance novel. I thoroughly enjoyed this book. I love how the main characters are complete opposites both light and dark. I like how we see a mysterious Mason with good heart fall for a self sacrificing heroine like Trina. I love the ending mainly her confessing she fell for Mason. I also was extremely impressed the author brought light to cancer awareness through this book. Especially with this being a Teen based novel. I really enjoyed this and I’m ready for the next book!

Point Guard ❤️ Artist 🎨

Spoilers.. splash throughout this book.

Omg! Like OMG! Not because the book is good. Even though it was good, but I am saying OMG because I finally finished it.

That Trina girl got on my last nerves. Like man, she was so annoying, kept pushing Mason away towards Polly. When both Mason and Polly told her (Trina) that they weren’t good for each other. Even Polly told Trina that she thought that Mason and she (Trina) was dating. But Trina was so much stuck on her stupid plan 🙄 that she couldn’t see past her plan and her parent's expectations of her. Like geez, girl gets a clue.

She couldn’t see past her own feelings for Mason. Even he show her how he felt with his confession about wanting to be with her. Not only that but with the kiss. Even mean Savannah even knew how Trina felt about Mason. She even told Trina (she loved Mason) it took Mandy to tell her the hard truth about her feelings for Mason for her to understand. During the day before her presentation smh 🤦🏽‍♀️.. Gosh this girl was annoying me because I was like girl if you don’t stop running....... 🏃‍♀️ from Mason... & he chase her 🏃 few times. The only time she felt some way was when he ignored her & when he was laughing and talking to Polly.

Oh, she was hurt and still delusional about Mason dating Polly when they weren’t dating at all. Smh 🤦🏽‍♀️ then after the win against that Silver Valley school. Trina still ran from Mason, and he had to chase her again. I was so annoyed that is when I was over the book, chapter twenty-five had me irritated because she kept denying his feeling and her own feelings. Until after the fact. She realizes she shouldn’t be a freaking idiot and kissed him and ran off until the sunset ugh!!

Besides that LORD I hope Mandy don’t be this annoying in her book with whatever guy she is going to catch feelings for.... the guy is “Jayden Paul”...

>Book Review – Dare You to Date the Point Guard
>I am an independent reviewer. This book is the 2nd in the Rock Valley High series and ends in an HEA. Trina is a perpetually upbeat person. She always sees the bright side of anything. She is somewhat of a doormat with how she lets people, especially her parents, walk all over her. She loves art, but her parents want her to be a doctor. She is forced to give up classes she wants to take for classes her parents make her take. One of these classes has Trina paired up with Mason. Mason is as opposite from Trina as one can get. He is always frowning and grumpy. This class they share is very unbelievable. There is no supervision, yet receives college credit.
>I love how Trina slowly wins over Mason. It was fun as they revealed bits and pieces of each other. Trina is an optimist, but she also seemed to be quite dumb. She wanted Mason to be happy, so she tries to repair his relationship with his ex-girlfriend. She never really asks him what he wanted. The couple from the previous story, Collin and Audrey, are pretty funny trying to get Trina to realize Mason likes her.
>This story actually has basketball scenes in it, which is fun. Trina’s senior art sculpture is an important part of the story. I would have liked to see more regarding how she learned to weld and her thought processes in to the planning of the sculpture. This book is appropriate for a young adult (16+) audience. I am giving this book 5 stars.

ONE EXTREMELY ENJOYABLE TREAT!!!
Ah snap! Lacy nailed this incredibly sensational storyline and gripping plot with 100% on point realism, melding this gem together piece by piece. Observing the instant realization and charged atmosphere, along with a bevy of shocking twists and stunning turns, testing our characters in ways they could have never imagined. Exposing the drama, turmoil, intrigue, misgivings and mounting suspense, along with a boatload of trouble and perplexing situations, you have one block busting, fun-filled adventure. Anarchy, escapades and havoc run amuck, kicking this gem into a tempest, bursting it into a hissy with a mind-blowing culmination. The dynamics and presentation in layer upon layer that you peel back with each page your drawn into this web so deep until everything else ceases to exist. The characters are authentic, genuine and realistic with depth and individuality that feels like you can just reach out and touch them. The scenes are so graphically detailed and descriptive it's like being transported to ground zero with them. Remarkable job Lacy, thanks for sharing this bad boy with us.

Mason & Trina

It all started with a plan of happiness....

Trina is on her senior year of high school. She is always happy and goes above & beyond to help others. She also lives her life by a plan, which seems to ho sideways the day she meets Mason, new student & point guard for their school's basketball team.

They are both in a class together. She decides to use him as her subject matter, and starts to build her happiness plan by trying to bring Mason back together with his ex-girlfriend Polly. This plan kinda back fires on her however, when she realizes that she has feelings for her subject matter.

Does Mason feel the same way or is he fated to be with Polly no matter how Trina feels?

This was a great book!! I love all the supporting characters. Although the books can be read as a standalone, I recommend that you start with book one, where it all began for these 3 besties!!

sports romance, HS romance, teen romance

I read this as a way to kinda jump back into my reading challenge and wanted something light/sweet and quick. This wasn't a bad book per say, but the female lead was just a bit too annoying for me to really like. The whole premise of the book is that she is trying to get a guy she is crushing on to get back with his ex, even though he clearly is into her more. And she keeps making excuses and denying feelings etc etc and I just wanted to be like, c'mon girl. Obviously everything works out in the end, and Mason was honestly super nice and patient with her, so I like him, but Trina just got really frustrating, especially towards the end of the book.

Really safe romance, just a few kisses, so good for preteens/teenagers

(4.5 stars) - Pollyanna meets a young version of Mr Frederickson from the movie "Up"

Trina is a pathologically peppy & perky miss sunshine - almost hilariously so. And Mason is a walking thundercloud. Trina decides to make it her mission to make Mason happy.

The story is pretty amusing. While it touches on some serious subjects, it's not at all down or depressing. And even though it's technically not particularly original, it's told in a fresh way that's entertaining & kept me eagerly reading from beginning to end.

*Clean romance level: passionate kisses, nothing graphic

It was a good book but I just couldn't with Trina. Like, how blind can you be to not see something so obvious in front of you? And the reject the guy who declares his love for you more than once? She irritated me, instead of trying she just gave up because she saw them talking, like seriuosly? Mason told her more than once what he felt and she still insisted that he got back together with Polly. He was there every step of the way and she just kept hurting him. She was naive and it pissed me off. And he was the one that went after her every time, where is that fair? Mason deserved more effort from her, she gave him nothing. I felt bad for him so many times, Jesus

Fabulous High School Romance

Senior Art Project for the Senior Class project, a college level research class with a presentation in front of a panel, preparing for college, and helping others all in one school year. Can Trina do it all and keep up her positive personality? What if she's paired with Mason Finnick, hot shot basketball star who just broke up with his girlfriend? And project Happiness is born. Come along on this drama filled high school experience:) Lots of ups and downs:) I highly recommend this book! Happy Reading!

Eek!

I could hardly breathe the last few chapters! Gah! All the feels. This is the second book in this series, and it’s just as good, if not better, than the first! Silly Trina, because WE ALL KNEW that Mason was into her when her besties brought it up toward the beginning! I loved getting into Trina’s head and hearing her stubborn thoughts. I was very happy when there were so many resolutions, right at the end. Yay! Sometimes, a girl really can have it all.

This is a cute teen book. It can be a stand alone but gives a bit of info away from book 1 so read that one first if you don’t want spoilers. I’m pretty sure Trina’s research method was faulty as that she uses a sample size of one and forced her views of happiness on him and just used a questionnaire instead of an interview to collect qualitative data. I had to remind myself that a high school research project would be different from a grad school one. Kisses only.

Okay, really cute story. I did enjoy most of it. I was frustrated with her. I know she has a "plan" but the reason her parents planned everything was because she didn't communicate. I was so frustrated with her I almost didn't want her with him because she didn't deserve him. She did redeem herself finally in the end. This author has some seriously amazing clean but oh so dang yummy hot kisses. WOW!

I like these stories - clean YA

I really like this series, but I just found a couple of gaps with the story. There were some timing issues and I didn't think some of the parts with basketball were correct--with 5 seconds remaining in a basketball game, stealing the ball, and running with defenders full court to score. That's nearly impossible. Overall, a fun YA that works for 12+.

Like the first book in the series, this story is well-written, and despite dealing with serious issues it is still sweet and occasionally funny, with likeable characters. Again, all the drama comes to a Hallmark-worthy resolution, and that's one of the reasons this series has become an auto-buy for when I need a feel-good read. :)

A captivating book

A easy read. It kept my attention and was fun. The second book in the series, it shares a lot of similarities to the first one. But was still unique. It was nice to see the characters from the first story. And since this one takes place after the first, there is more to them. Good book.

Dare You to Date the Point is a sweet teen romance.
High schoolers with high schoolers issues.
The struggle of “the plan” and expectations (perceived ones) vs what YOU want.
A quick enjoyable story and characters.

I really enjoyed it

It was a little hard to see the main characters reasoning for some things but ive always thought that a romance story really lives or dies by love interest and Mason was perfect!

I like this series because it doesn't have a bunch of boring stuff at the beginning like most books do. It just gets right into the plot. It has a guessable storyline but most romance books do and it is still very entertaining.
