Was slightly disappointed in this book. Instead of receiving practical advice on how to become better at encouraging 3/4 of this book was more about the Theology of Encouragement, which is great, but then it rushed through all the practical advice, which in itself was more conceptual than practical.

At one point they list 9 reasons why we don't encourage, but I feel like the reason why I don't do it wasn't on there: I don't know what to say.

While I feel like I learned a lot about encouragement and the biblical basis for it, I honestly don't know if I actually learned how to be a better encourager.

Convicted on how important it is to be an encouragement to those around me and to love on other with words of encouragement! Great read!

I am not a person who easily encourages others, especially vocally. The reasons why I don’t and why I should were all laid out for me in this little book along with plenty of cherry-picked scriptures and quotes from other authors (I especially loved it when the authors of this book quote an author of a different book quoting an original source) to back up their exhortations.
This is probably a fine introduction to the basic biblical call to lift others up but the way it was presented was almost too simple for me and I found myself skimming as if through a pamphlet, instead of deeply thinking about what was being presented in a way that would have any impact on my life.

This is a good little book to do with a partner or small group to help people be better at focusing on encouraging one another and how we use our words, in general.

I personally don't believer each strategy in this book is for everyone, but encouraging each other in Christ definitely is.
