Thanks to TASCHEN we now have over 160 Krider images to pore over. To salivate over. Like a good film noir, he takes us to lustful places. Is it a crime scene or a sea of lust? These beautiful, languid women wait for whom? For me. For you. They play the "waiting game" beautifully. An ass in the air, a pair of crossed legs in nylons, all bathed in warm tones. A still life unstuck in time. So this is what goes on behind closed doors? Oh, I almost forgot. Alongside these many Midwest femme fatales is Dita, raven-haired icon. Not since Betty Page has a woman fleshed out so correctly a vintage girdle and bra ensemble. Enjoy. He takes you places where you only vaguely think you have been.

So I finally got the book and read it. Well looked at the pictures, because it is a photographic book. All the pictures look 'dirty'. They look like normal women who are posing for their boyfriends or husbands or even clients. They look like they want to have sex. The collaboration between the photographer and models really works. The photos made me feel slightly uncomfortable, they were too sexy and too private, like they really weren't meant for me to see, I was intruding on a private sex session.

None of the models have had plastic breast or bottom implants unlike the incredibly fake and trashy Kim Kardashian West: Selfish, none had an air-brushed kind of beauty, all were women you might see on any high street, in any club, women who project sex and provoke lust and are sometimes really gorgeous but not always. It's a look, a hunger they project and we all recognise it. And here the photographer captured it.

The book has a bonus! It has a reversible cover so instead of looking at a hot girl looking like she is pretending to be a whore, or maybe even is, you can reverse it and look like you are reading an uninteresting but necessary text book :-) Give it to your nearest and dearest who loves sexy women to help a long journey go faster.

Written before I read the book. My love for the publisher and an anecdote about a $1200 an hour lawyer. I love Taschen art books and when I came across this one, well the girl really radiates a real sexiness (not a sort of plastic, photoshopped, stylised sort like Playboy or anything advertising a film), a sort of bored ennui while waiting for a customer. Or perhaps checked in for the weekend, all dressed up for the boyfriend whose just phoned and said he'll be late so she's poured herself a drink. (I think, in a minute, he's going to phone and say his wife says something or other and then she'll have another drink). What I mean is, that this picture really tells a story. And I want to read it.

What actually sold me on the book though was the alternate cover.

I have a customer, an absolute top of the tree lawyer, and he likes dirty books. He always insists I double-bag his books just in case anyone could see the rather lurid titles he buys and maybe make inferences about him (if they did they'd be right)! When I've got the book in and had a good look at it myself maybe I could sell it to him on the strength of the alternate cover. :-)

You associate a lot of things with the all American motel. Norman Bates, Lost Highway, seedy rooms, cable TV, neon advertisings, vendings machines... in this volume you'll find all kind of female sirens in erotic poses luring people in. Nice coffee table book to leaf through. Everything's a bit faded, a bit cheap. It's up to you if you can check out your room and leave. Really recommended!

Artsy photos of trashy women in trashy hotels whats not to like. Chas caputers light and shadow wonderfully in this book while keeping up a theme that at first appears almost pornographic is more of an homoge to 30's pulp and pin up. The thing that I enjoyed from this book was that most photos seemed to tell a story and made you want to know more. Several unknown models grace the pages also mixed in is some famous women in the industry mostly the queen herself Dita Von Teese. Overall i'd say just this side of tastefull and skillfully put together.

Out of Print, but worth the search if you enjoy clandestine motel room settings and slightly raunchy yet kitschy poses of Dita-like (including Dita) women in cool lingerie.

Quality artistic porn from a Columbus artist. He has (or at least had when the book was published) that curtained "GALLERY," as the sign says, across from Hampton's on King.

Arty and trashy at the same time. DIRTY DIRTY DIRTY! I absolutely love this collection of erotic; story like photos. The edition I got has a revisable cover to hide what you reading! Just awesome!
